True Apocalypse Game

Chapter 330 - 309: Thought Work for the Symbiote

As soon as Liu Jing spoke, the Salvation Army Warriors, who had been busy exchanging information, immediately fell silent and turned to look at him in unison.

Several thousand people had already gathered in the courtyard. More were constantly logging in from all corners of the military base and congregating, all looking at Liu Jing, eager to hear his news.

Many even wore looks of anticipation, clearly envious that Liu Jing could receive information directly from the Commander.

A tall man with a large beard squeezed through the crowd and winked at Liu Jing. Liu Jing immediately knew this was Ivan’s in-game character.

He cleared his throat and announced solemnly,

"To be precise, it was under the Commander’s directive that I obtained information about the Purification Society’s Space Wormhole project."

He glanced up at the sky as he spoke.

’The Commander must be watching our every move. If he didn’t want me to make this information public, he would have stepped in to stop me by now.’

’It seems the Commander is fine with this.’

’Throughout this whole Space Wormhole incident, the Commander only told Ivan to capture Joe Thomas. Clearly, he wants us to decide for ourselves what to do.’

’What I’m doing now has his tacit approval.’

At Liu Jing’s words, the eyes of the assembled Salvation Army Warriors lit up.

They had been feeling lost about this whole "Space Wormhole" situation, but now that the Commander had issued a directive, they felt they had a firm sense of purpose.

Liu Jing then laid out all the information obtained from interrogating Joe Thomas, recounting it in detail.

Joe Thomas was a mole the Purification Society had planted in the International Ocean Organization long ago. Ever since the incident with the underwater statue ruins, he had been continuously feeding intelligence to the Purification Society.

And this Space Wormhole hadn’t just appeared out of thin air—it was created by the Purification Society through a mysterious experiment!

The experiment was also said to be at the behest of the Whisperer and was personally overseen by Cthulhu, the president of the Purification Society. After more than a decade of trials, they finally succeeded in creating a Space Wormhole.

Internally, the Purification Society called this Project "Sea Beast."

And their laboratory was located somewhere in the Arctic Region.

That’s why the Space Wormhole appeared inside the Arctic Circle.

According to Joe Thomas, the project spanned more than a decade and was restarted multiple times. They also stole a massive amount of technology from space laboratories in Eagle Country and the European Union before finally achieving success.

As for the so-called "Sea Beast," it was believed to be the extraterrestrial creature on the other side of the Space Wormhole.

According to internal legends within the Purification Society, when the Sea Beast descends, the entire world will undergo a thorough "purification." The original Purifiers will gain eternal life, while the "filthy mortals" will be utterly punished, or so the story goes.

When Liu Jing finished his brief summary, the Salvation Army Warriors present were lost in thought.

The Legion Commander and the other leaders, in particular, looked ashamed.

The Purification Society had been executing its plans step by step, putting Earth in grave danger multiple times. If the Commander hadn’t personally intervened, Earth would have already been destroyed several times over.

And now, it seemed they were about to succeed again.

And they, the Salvation Army, self-proclaimed guardians of human civilization on Earth, were still completely disorganized—unable to even complete a single in-game mission.

The Legion Commander took a deep breath, climbed onto the roof of a nearby tank, and addressed the crowd.

"Everyone, you all understand how dire the situation is in the real world. The Commander has taken notice as well. That’s why we must complete this game mission as quickly as possible, claim the Commander’s reward, and strengthen ourselves to resolve the current Space Wormhole crisis. This is clearly the Commander’s will. We’ve failed once already. This time, failure is not an option! After a day of rest, we’ve formed a preliminary battle strategy. I’ll post it on the information screen. If there are no objections, we move out immediately!"

Soon, an operational plan from the Salvation Army’s command appeared on the base’s information screen.

It was the most effective plan they could devise on such short notice, and most of the players agreed with it. The entire Salvation Army immediately whirred to life, moving like a giant machine.

Unlike their casual attitude the last time they entered the Biohazard game mission, the players were now burdened by the dual pressures of the game and the real world. As a result, they were far more efficient.

After a brief period of coordination, once the majority of players were back online, several armored vehicles and sound trucks equipped with massive speakers rolled out of the Salvation Army base and positioned themselves on the outskirts of New York City.

Then, a message began to blare from the loudspeakers in a standard Brooklyn, New York accent:

"To our Symbiote brothers in New York City! We are the Salvation Army, representing human civilization. We sincerely invite all Symbiotes to form an alliance with humanity and fight back against the tower’s control! We mean you no harm. This is a genuine invitation. The world belongs to intelligent life! We wish to share this planet, this world, with the Symbiotes!

To our Symbiote brothers in New York City! We are the Salvation Army, representing human civilization. We sincerely invite you..."

Although the slogans blaring from the loudspeakers sounded a bit dated and cringey, many of the Salvation Army Warriors were nonetheless deeply impressed with the Legion Commander’s tactic.

Only their Legion Commander could have come up with such a strategy. In his own words, it was all about "winning the Symbiotes’ hearts and minds, focusing on psychological warfare to build a united front."

All the Salvation Army Warriors understood that to defeat the massive tower in the city—and to even have a chance at understanding the super-consciousness controlling the towers and zombies worldwide—they had to ally with the Symbiotes.

Only humans truly understand humans, and only zombies truly understand zombies.

Meanwhile, the experts in electronics and mechanics from the logistics division were also hard at work, assembling the weapon they planned to use to control the battlefield environment:

A full-spectrum jamming device.

The tower’s influence over the zombies was incredibly strong. However, regardless of the specifics, if it was transmitted via waves, then it could be jammed.

Brainwaves were still waves, after all.

Since they couldn’t determine the exact communication frequency, the simplest, most brutish method was to just jam all of them.

Another team of players, led by Fres, the Deputy Commander of the Eagle Country Strategic Command, was headed to a secret military research base in Eagle Country to search for a legendary weapon.

While the main body of players was busy in the game, dozens of others, led by Nick, logged off and returned to the real world.

The game mission had to be completed, but the Space Wormhole incident also required investigation and attention.

In the real world, these players quickly mobilized all the forces under their control, establishing communication links and coordinating resources.

Several elite special forces units began to assemble in Siberia, preparing to move out to the coordinates Liu Jing had provided.

Following Liu Jing’s intelligence, they would head to the Arctic to find the secret base where the Purification Society was executing Project "Sea Beast."

Then, they would tear those bastards to shreds.
