True Apocalypse Game

Chapter 291 - 275: How the Fuck Would I Know

"Hey, kid up front, stop. What are you looking for here? I’ve been watching you for a while." A very arrogant voice came from behind.

At the same time, two swaggering figures wearing thick gold chains appeared at the alley’s exit up ahead. One held a dagger, and the other carried a revolver, blocking Shen Feng’s path.

Shen Feng turned to look and saw a scrawny man, Huangmao, behind him. The dark circles under his eyes were alarming, and his gaze was filled with greed and agitation.

He was also holding a gun, which he had just cocked.

Shen Feng, still wearing his face mask, politely stopped and greeted them, saying:

"Hello. I’m looking for someone. I was wondering if you might have any information."

The two men blocking his path walked over. Hearing Shen Feng’s flawless Spanish, the man with the dagger frowned and said:

"He doesn’t have an accent. He’s not one of the Medellin People. You think he’s a cop?"

Huangmao snorted coldly, brandished the gun in his hand at Shen Feng, and said:

"Pablo has been dead for years. Who are you looking for in Medellin? This isn’t a place for cops like you! Take off your mask!"

Shen Feng shrugged and took off his mask, revealing a face that had been modified by the Nanomechanical Cluster.

His face was now square and chiseled, giving him a resolute and stern look. He appeared to be around thirty years old.

He still looked Asian, though.

"An Asian?" Huangmao frowned again and asked, "Where are you from? Who are you looking for? This is the last time I’m asking."

As he spoke, he shot a look at his two companions. They immediately started scanning the area, while the man in sunglasses with the revolver aimed it directly at the back of Shen Feng’s head.

Shen Feng chuckled and said:

"I’m with Mr. Ye. I’m here to find Mr. Martin Benitez. I have a message for him."

Martin Benitez was the man connected to the number Shen Feng had gotten from Musk. He was the current head of the criminal organizations in the Medellin Region.

The criminal organizations in Medellin, Columbia were nowhere near as powerful as they had been when Pablo was alive; they were completely unable to suppress the Colombian military and police. However, the drug trade was still incredibly profitable. They possessed immense wealth and were therefore still able to hold their own.

Currently, the largest criminal organization in the Medellin Region, the "13th Brigade," was controlled by Martin Benitez.

He claimed to have inherited the will of the former number one Lone Eagle, Pablo, and intended to rebuild a criminal empire.

Of course, his current influence was nothing compared to Pablo’s. He could only control the underworld of the Medellin Region.

Hearing Shen Feng’s words, Huangmao and the other two were stunned. They had originally assumed he was just an ordinary tourist. When they saw his backpack, they became convinced he was some clueless rich guy loaded with cash.

They never expected him to casually drop Martin Benitez’s name!

They were just small-time street thugs. While they scraped by on the fringes of the "13th Brigade," they weren’t even considered peripheral members. To them, Martin Benitez was a god-like figure, someone they could never hope to interact with.

Hearing that this Asian was actually looking for Martin Benitez, they all trembled. They had a feeling they’d just messed with the wrong person.

Shen Feng smiled faintly and continued:

"No need to be nervous. You can introduce me to the right people, and I’ll pay you a handsome reward. Of course, you could also kill me, and then be flayed alive by the ’13th Brigade’."

As he spoke, he carefully pulled a roll of banknotes from his breast pocket with two fingers and tossed it to Huangmao.

Huangmao caught it, pulled off the rubber band, and looked at the denomination. His eyes went wide.

Green hundred-dollar bills, all of them US Dollars.

This method of bundling cash into a roll was also the most common practice among criminal organizations in the American Region.

At this point, the decision was out of their hands.

Even if he might have more money on him, even if his backpack might be stuffed full of cash, they didn’t dare to try and rob him.

If it were just one person, it might be a different story. But with three of them there, who knew if one of them might get drunk, have a moment of stupidity, and let this slip? If that happened, they’d be dead for sure. The 13th Brigade would flay their entire families alive before chopping them into pieces to feed to the dogs.

The three of them exchanged a look. Huangmao first put away the money and his gun, then said to Shen Feng:

"Let’s go. We’re just small-timers; we can’t meet Martin Benitez. But we can take you to meet people from the 13th Brigade."

The other two also put away their weapons. The man with the dagger stepped forward, clapped Shen Feng on the shoulder, and said enthusiastically:

"Bro, you should have said so earlier! Actually, you could say we’re part of the 13th Brigade, too. We just haven’t officially joined yet."

"Mike, shut up. Don’t bother the gentleman," Huangmao chided him with a deadpan expression.

They still had no idea where this man came from, and they’d never heard of this "Mr. Ye" before.

’Who knows what business he has with Martin Benitez?’

’What if he’s here for revenge?’

’That bulging backpack might be stuffed with bombs.’

The trio led Shen Feng through a maze of twisting alleys. They ran into a few other thugs who tried to question them, but as soon as Huangmao said they were on their way to see Martin Benitez, the others knew to back off and quickly stepped aside.
