True Apocalypse Game

Chapter 266 - 252: Your Name

The moment he saw the stone mural, Shen Feng felt a chill run down his spine.

’What the hell is this?’

The scene was incredibly familiar. It was the exact moment from *True Apocalypse Game* 1.0 when he first revealed the truth to the Salvation Army Warriors.

’No... perhaps it isn’t the same...’

Shen Feng peered closer at the stone and immediately noticed that the hooded figure had distinct patterns on its face—they looked like eyes. The clothing it wore wasn’t a simple hoodie, but a cloak.

As for the people gathered around the figure, their faces were blurry and indistinct.

’It must be a coincidence...’

A ring of dotted lines also encircled the scene. Outside the lines were staring eyes, though he didn’t know what they represented.

The eye motif, however, reminded Shen Feng of the Purification Society.

His vigilance heightened, he gripped his gun and continued upward.

The second level also contained carvings. This time, it was again the hooded figure with eyes on its face.

Ghostly threads emanated from its body, boring into the surrounding crowd. Some of the people connected by these threads had turned into skulls.

The hooded figure was surrounded by another group, apparently its Disciples. Threads also shot out from their hands, boring into the people around them.

Shen Feng couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief. ’It seems it was just a coincidence. These drawings have nothing to do with me.’

He proceeded cautiously upward and soon saw the carvings on the third level.

This time, the figure with eyes on its face was still in the center, but its form had changed. It looked as if it had become a tree, growing toward the sky.

And beside it, the people who had turned into skulls were now hunting and killing the ordinary people around them.

The mural was remarkably lifelike. Despite the crude technique, the meaning of the details was clear at a glance.

An ordinary person was pinned to the ground as a skull-faced figure bit him, and half of the victim’s own face was already turning into a skull!

Shen Feng instantly understood the mural’s meaning.

’This is... infection!’

’The Evil Spirit Virus!’

’This person is unleashing the Evil Spirit Virus to infect the world!’

’That’s not a tree at all—it’s a tower of flesh and blood!’

’This carving depicts the apocalypse, the world being overrun by the Evil Spirit Virus!’

’But why would the Aztec Civilization’s Spider Nest City, from hundreds of years ago, predict a scene of the Evil Spirit Virus infecting the entire world?’

’This civilization is long extinct. What meaning could any of this have for them?’

’And how did they predict this?’

Shen Feng’s expression turned grim as he continued upward. Just then, with a sharp CRACK, his foot crushed a dry bone.

Shen Feng froze and scanned his surroundings. Hearing no other sound, he resumed his advance.

At the same time, the wailing, sobbing cry from before echoed once more from the darkness. It was two syllables, strikingly similar to his name, and seemed to be coming from the top of the altar.

He had already come this far; it was too late to leave now. He had to get to the bottom of this!

After taking the remaining plastic explosives from his backpack and planting them in a few places on the altar, Shen Feng arrived at the fourth level.

The mural on this level depicted a full-blown Hell World, the aftermath of the Evil Spirit Virus’s spread.

In the center stood massive towers that pierced the clouds. The original hooded figure was embedded directly into the tallest, central tower.

Surrounding them were endless ruins, where zombies, depicted as skeletons, wandered ceaselessly.

A great number of dotted lines extended from the towers, connecting to the bodies of the zombies.

Meanwhile, in the sky above the towers, a massive black hole had appeared—a patch of pure void that seemed to envelop the entire world.

’The advent of the Master of the Void.’

’The hooded figure... Is that Yamaguchi Sora?’

’If this world was destroyed by the Evil Spirit Virus, then Yamaguchi Sora indeed wouldn’t have died. Instead, he would have become a minion of the Master of the Void, ruling over this world.’

’But why didn’t the initial depiction match what I knew about Yamaguchi Sora?’

Shen Feng had no time to dwell on it and continued upward.

Further up was the fifth level of the great altar.

The mural here was even more intricate and complex. At a glance, thousands of figures, including zombies, were depicted.

The black-hole-like object in the sky was now only half its previous size, and its interior had whitened considerably, as if it had sustained some kind of damage.

The giant towers were also leaning and askew, their forms twisted and much more dilapidated.

’This means... the Master of the Void was defeated by something?’

’Causing a new change in this world?’

Back in the Tokyo Epidemic Zone, Shen Feng had personally witnessed a cross-dimensional attack against the Master of the Void, so he instantly understood the meaning of this image.

’If this prophecy is correct, then the outside world is no longer under the Master of the Void’s control. It would be much safer for me to do some reconnaissance.’

He also noticed that the dotted lines connecting the towers to the zombies had all vanished. Instead, new dotted lines now connected small groups of zombies to each other.

The zombies connected by these lines seemed to have formed small colonies, and it looked like they were even fighting one another.

There were also some humans who hadn’t turned into skeletons, huddled in various corners. They seemed to be survivors.

The entire world had descended into even greater chaos.

Without further hesitation, Shen Feng continued upward and arrived at the sixth level.

On the sixth level, the mural’s content changed once again.

This time, the hooded figure was leaning out of the central tower. Dotted lines once again extended from its body, connecting to the zombies, as if it had replaced the Master of the Void and now controlled everything.

But when Shen Feng looked up, his blood ran cold.

In the empty space above the hooded figure, two carved Chinese characters had appeared!

The two characters were like pictures, their strokes crooked and twisted, clearly carved by someone who didn’t understand Chinese characters at all.

Shen Feng!

Those two words were "Shen Feng"!

It was his name!

’What the fuck is going on?’

’Could the Aztecs have predicted that I would appear here?’

Shen Feng no longer felt any fear. Instead, he began to place extreme importance on the information provided by the murals.

’If these Aztec prophecies are all going to come true, then the information provided by this last mural is what I need to pay the most attention to.’

’After the Master of the Void leaves, his Apostle—the one who destroyed the entire world—will once again possess immense power and control all the zombies on the planet!’

’This scene probably hasn’t happened yet. What I need to do is find that guy before it does and see if I can stop it all.’

’Since my name appeared here, it must mean I have a crucial role to play.’

This was already the sixth level. Further up was the seventh, the very summit of the Pyramid Temple’s altar!

The weeping-like call was becoming clearer. Shen Feng steeled his resolve and strode upward, finger hooked on the trigger, ready to blast whatever lay ahead to smithereens.

Soon, he arrived at the platform on the seventh level.

This was the very top of the Temple altar. As far as the eye could see, the ground was still covered in all sorts of fluorescent patterns.

The patterns depicted an altar piled high with white bones!

On the altar stood a circle of zombies, along with a man who had just climbed onto it, wearing a backpack, holding a Shotgun and a flashlight, with several grenades hanging from his body.

It was the exact scene happening right now!

Clearly, the people of the ancient Aztec Spider Nest City had prophesied this very scene, and everything happening today was an event of absolute importance to them.

The sacrifice of an entire people, a dead city keeping watch for hundreds of years—perhaps this was the day it had all been for!

In the very center of the altar was an oval, jet-black stone. That had to be the Temple’s Sacrificial Stone.

The moment he saw the Sacrificial Stone from afar, a wave of nausea and oppressive vexation washed over Shen Feng, making him extremely uncomfortable.

Dozens of zombies stood in a circle around the Sacrificial Stone, staring at it and endlessly repeating two syllables:

"Shen... Feng...

Shen... Feng...

Shen... Feng..."

Just then, they all turned their heads in unison. A grotesque smile spread across their pale, half-rotten faces as they extended their hands toward Shen Feng behind them, as if in invitation:

"Shen Feng..."

The Sacrificial Stone was now fully revealed before Shen Feng. He felt as if his mind had been struck by a sledgehammer. It went completely blank with a deafening HUM, and then he was moving forward involuntarily. He took off his protective suit, bared his chest, and lay down on the Sacrificial Stone.
