Chapter 420 - 236: Enjoying the Feeling of Being Fought Over by Women

Baron looked at Freya.

Freya was stunned for a moment, then she grew furious. "Miss Eldest, are you not aware that he is a member of Lancelot’s Family? Since when did Lancelot’s Family need the Beowulf Family to order them around?"

Isabella replied calmly, "I am doing this precisely because I am aware."

"You..." Freya had never gone head-to-head with a woman of the Eldest Daughter’s caliber, and she was at a loss for words. After a long pause, she finally managed to choke out, "Lancelot’s Family is not to be insulted as you please."

But Isabella showed her no mercy, continuing, "I have no intention of insulting Lancelot’s Family, Miss Freya.

"I simply find it a pity that this gentleman Attendant, after helping you out of such a predicament, isn’t even offered a seat. That is why I suggested giving up one of the Beowulf Family’s seats for him."

She looked Baron in the eye and said calmly, "After all, the Beowulf Family holds loyalty in the highest regard, not to mention this gentleman is also a Law Enforcer."

"And... regarding your earlier question, I wasn’t giving an order. It was a provocation."

The corners of her exquisitely sculpted lips curled upward. At that moment, the fangs of the Beowulf Family’s eldest daughter were finally bared.

As she spoke, everyone from the Beowulf Family to the members of Lancelot’s Family beside Freya gasped in shock.

’The Eldest Daughter... How can she be so bold?’

’Is this what a war between women is like?’ Though no blood was shed and no lives were lost, the smell of gunpowder made Baron feel as if he were reliving the Normandy landings.

It was truly terrifying.

"Are the eldest daughter of the Beowulf Family and the legitimate daughter of Lancelot’s Family clashing? What’s the reason?"

"I’m not sure... It seems to be because of that Attendant... but I think the deeper reason probably lies with that legendary Dragon Knight."

"You mean the Dragon Knight, Baron Constantin? How did he get involved in this?"

"Rumor has it that the eldest daughter of the Beowulf Family and he were childhood sweethearts. But then, the Constantine Family had him get engaged to the legitimate daughter of Lancelot’s Family—that is, the current Miss Freya... Then came the infamous broken engagement... It seems that’s how the feud between those two started."

"Hiss... If I’m not mistaken, Freya’s current fiancé is here too, right? The Griffin Knight, Jill... By the way, does that mean her earlier conflict with the Hestia Family was also because of that Baron Constantin?"

Those secretly watching the scene began to whisper among themselves.

They hadn’t expected to see so much explosive drama before the auction had even begun.

First, it was the Knight from Lancelot’s Family facing off against the Demon Hunter from the Frank Family. Then, the jealous rivalry between the women of the Constantine and Hestia families. After that, the standoff between Lancelot’s legitimate daughter and the Hestia Family’s Grand Elder. And now, the clash between the legitimate daughter of Lancelot and the eldest daughter of the Beowulf Family. No matter what, this trip to Berthelili had not been a waste.

As Freya listened to the buzzing whispers of the surrounding guests, her face went from red to white, her expression flickering uncertainly.

Seeing this, the unremarkable Attendant beside her quickly refused Isabella’s kind offer, but Isabella was relentless:

"Sir, I greatly admire your strength. How about this: whatever salary Lancelot’s Family pays you, the Beowulf Family is willing to double it."

Isabella added calmly, "Furthermore, we can also provide you with the Magic Potion Materials and the Trial necessary for your advancement to the Bronze and Silver Tiers."

The gazes of the surrounding guests shifted instantly. This was blatant, open poaching!

"Miss Isabella, you are going too far!" Freya snorted, ignoring Baron’s attempts to stop her as she drew her Magic Staff.

"Since Miss Freya has drawn her Magic Staff, does this mean..." Isabella’s gaze was cold and proud. "Are you challenging me to a fight, Miss Freya?"

"Or perhaps you?" She fixed her stunning, ice-cold eyes on the ashen-faced Aile.

Isabella said calmly, "Going one by one is too much trouble. If you want to reclaim some honor for Lancelot’s Family, you can come at me together."

Aile froze. After a long moment, he managed to choke out, "I don’t fight women."

Pure chivalry, though it wouldn’t hold up in a future that advocated for total equality.

In the end, Baron sat down. Taoist Nun Lucy, who had been sitting between Freya and Isabella, perceptively stood up, declaring that her Compass indicated bad feng shui in this spot. And so, she had Baron take her seat in the middle.

Baron thought to himself that if the feng shui was so bad, she shouldn’t have given up the seat. After all, how could it be comfortable being caught in the middle of a cold war?

No sooner had he sat down than Isabella started trying to recruit him again. Freya, gritting her teeth, met her tit for tat. Lucy fanned the flames from the side, while not far away, Jill Hestia forced a smile as he conversed with Silver Lion Wilder, all while secretly watching the unfolding scene.

His sister, Barbara, meanwhile, had approached the Constantine Family. She struck up a desultory conversation with Pound, who became reserved and flustered when hit on by a pretty woman, until she finally managed to steer the conversation toward the Dragon Knight, Baron Constantin.

But Baron cared for none of this. He didn’t know if Isabella had seen through his disguise, and even if she had, he wouldn’t have cared. His top priority now was to find the Dragon Witch, Carmen, in the auction house and warn her of the Law Enforcement Organization’s conspiracy against her.

He scanned the room but found nothing. The Blood Covenant he had formed with the Witch should allow him to sense her when she was near.
