Chapter 340 - 198: Would You Believe Me If I Said I’m Here to Collect the Final Payment?
"Wh-What?!"
The moment the Dragon Guide revealed his true face, the entire crowd was plunged into a state of shock even more profound than when they had discovered the Subspecies Windstorm Dragon.
Baron Constantin... Wasn’t this the most infamous man in the Wanted Realm?
His alleged sins were so numerous a single newspaper couldn’t list them all: colluding with the Dragon Witch, assassinating a Knight Commander, holding his ex-fiancée hostage at King’s Cross Station, blowing up said station and escaping an encirclement led by Silver Lion Wilder, conspiring with the Dragon Eater Association to kill his own cousin Soron, and on the Outer Side, he was supposedly involved with a group of robbers... Some papers even claimed he was a freeloader!
A bona fide, major villain on both the Outer and Inner Sides.
And now, this great villain had somehow managed to sneak into the Dragon Hunting Ceremony right under the noses of all the bigwigs outside the mountain range! What was he planning to do here!?
Everyone immediately connected this to the recent disappearances of Trial Takers in the inner circle, and the scorch marks found at the scenes of their disappearance.
They then recalled the rumors that he was a Dragon Knight capable of using fire.
Could it be... that he was behind it all?!
An uproar instantly swept through the crowd.
"Bastard!"
The Lancelot Family Head unleashed [Promise: Lion’s Eye], freezing a group of Low Tier Dragon Descendants in their tracks. He then stared at the projection of "Baron" on the screen, his rage uncontrollable.
"That damned Lawbreaker actually dared to show his face!"
Beside him, several Lion-eyed Knights from the Lion Eye Knight Order, who had been sent to protect him, simultaneously recalled their Silver Lions. They looked ready to head up the mountain to capture Baron Constantin.
The Holy Mechanism’s Bronze Saint Elvin and the two Battle Nuns killed the nearby Dragon Descendants. The three of them exchanged a look, and Elvin chuckled. "So, the target really did show up."
Camilla, her face flushed and glistening with sweat, pulled a cigarette from her stocking, stuck it between her lips, and stared at the screen.
"Ara~ He looks a lot thinner than before. Still handsome, though, but he doesn’t seem to be my type anymore. Guess I’ll have to find someone new to think about at night."
Bronze Saint Elvin tore a page from the Bible in his hand, lit it, and said, "Why not consider me? I just washed with Holy Water. Ready for action."
"You?"
Nun Camilla glanced at Elvin, who was eagerly lighting her cigarette, and hummed. "Not my type."
Lian coldly cut off their lewd banter. "What are you waiting for? We just need to go up the mountain, capture him, and be done with it."
Elder Pence stopped them. And not just them—the Constantine, Frank, and Lancelot Family Heads, along with their subordinates, were all held back.
Elder Pence said, "I understand how you all feel, but the Dragon Tide is irreversible. It is not wise to ascend the mountain at this time.
"Besides, the inner circle of the Dracul Mountain Range is a sea of Dragon Descendants. It won’t be easy for that fellow, Baron Constantin, to escape either.
"The Griffin Knight Order, led by Jill, is already on its way. Once the situation is under control, we can move to capture the Lawbreaker, Baron Constantin."
The various family heads and other powerful figures felt this was reasonable. The Lancelot Family Head stared at the black-haired young man on the screen and said fiercely, "He killed my son. Does he now intend to kill my daughter in there as well?"
The Frank Family Head then looked at the ashen-faced Constantine Family Head and snapped, "The plaza is filled with the elite children of all the Old Blood Clans. Isn’t it enough that Baron Constantin killed my son Bill at Buckingham Palace?"
What a vicious move, redirecting the blame!
Hearing this, the Constantine Family Head, Field, turned grim. The joy and pride he had felt over his son Arthur being chosen for the London Tower were instantly washed away.
Indeed. Even though the Constantine Family had publicly disowned Baron in the papers six years ago, the fact remained that the man’s surname was still Constantine.
Judging by the projection, the man’s appearance in Dragon Spear Plaza was clearly a sign of ill intent. If any incidents occurred, the "Bloodthirsty Jackals and Wolves" of the Inner Side Old Blood Clans would surely use it as an excuse to take a huge bite out of the Constantine Clan.
At this thought, Field nearly burst out cursing in his mind.
’Why can’t my nephew just stop causing trouble?!’ he raged internally. ’He should have either died quietly according to their arrangement, or taken his sister and disappeared with some dignity, never to be seen again!’
Unlike the powerful figures, each with their own ulterior motives sparked by Baron’s appearance, back in Dragon Spear Plaza, all the Trial Takers held their breath, their eyes wide with the same baffled expression that screamed, ’Why is *he* here?’
Lucy stared at the man before her, her fingers moving as if making a calculation. Her expression flickered. "Damn it... If only my Compass hadn’t broken... But based on the newspaper photos, he really does look the part."
She glanced at the surrounding Dragon Descendants, who had stopped their assault. Her gaze lingered on the Gale Dragon. "Even the subspecies isn’t moving. That fits some of the descriptions of a Dragon Knight. Could it really be him?"
When Isabella heard this, her composure faltered, and she nearly lost her grip on the Red Spear, almost dropping it.
Roy’s expression darkened.
Dewey looked on in shock.
Freya’s face was a mask of complicated emotions.
Windsor’s red lips parted slightly.
Pound, like most of the Trial Takers who heard the news, looked utterly dumbfounded at first. That confusion then twisted into a furious rage, a rage tinged with a hint of secret delight.
He understood that this was his chance to clear the Constantine Family’s name. If he killed this man, Baron Constantin, then all accusations against the Constantine Clan would be rendered baseless!
"Baron Constantin! You’ll pay for Soron’s life with your own!"
