Chapter 405 - 300: Four-Way Melee (1)
Xiao Ning stood at the front and shouted, "Alright, everyone, don’t spread out. Form up by family. All Clan Leaders, come to the front."
The crowd began to move.
Zhao Chi followed the people from the Zhao Family, moving to the left.
Su Qin stuck close to Zhao Chi.
Soon, the crowd had formed several distinct groups.
Su Qin said with a hint of displeasure, "What are you all doing in the Zhao Family’s line? Get back to your own. The Qi Family is on the far right, and the Xiao and Liu Families are in the middle."
Zhao Chi knew she wasn’t talking to him.
She was speaking to the women who had gathered around them.
When those women saw Zhao Chi, their eyes all went wide.
They stared at him in disbelief.
They were all acquaintances from the same village.
Even if they weren’t close, they certainly knew who was who and recognized Zhao Chi.
But after a single, casual glance, they found they couldn’t look away from Zhao Chi.
As Zhao Chi moved, they had followed him, as if drawn by an unseen force, into the Zhao Family’s line.
It wasn’t just the women right beside him. In the other family groups, quite a few women were craning their necks to get a look.
Some were young women who had just come of age.
Others were recently married young wives.
There were a few young sisters-in-law, too.
There were even a few ’aunties’ who still possessed a mature charm.
Their gazes were fiery and direct, and Zhao Chi could feel them.
These stares seemed even hotter than the sun.
But Zhao Chi could only pretend not to notice.
After Su Qin spoke, the women around them snapped out of it as if waking from a dream. They started back toward their own family lines, glancing back with every step.
But they still kept looking over.
Zhao Chi understood them completely.
’After all, it’s a 10-point Appearance score.’
’Gu Qing has an 8-point Appearance, and she’s already that beautiful.’
’If a woman with a 10-point Appearance showed up, even I would have to take a good long look.’
’But now isn’t the time to be thinking about that.’
The entire contingent from Stream Village was now in formation.
Xiao Ning pointed ahead and declared, "Alright, let’s move out! We’ll kill those bandits and rescue Nanlin Village!"
Xiao Ning raised her arm high, but her call was met with silence.
"Dammit, move out!" Xiao Ning cursed, taking the lead.
A few hundred meters ahead lay the west gate of Nanlin Village.
The entire village was encircled by a wooden stockade.
To the south was a large grove of sturdy poplars, their green leaves lush and their branches full of birds’ nests.
Guards were posted at the west gate, with patrols making their rounds.
From their watchtowers, they spotted the people from Stream Village almost the instant they teleported in.
The resounding clang of a gong quickly echoed throughout Nanlin Village.
A large group of people rushed out moments later.
They outnumbered the Stream Village contingent two to one.
The man in the center was clearly their leader.
He was a man in his thirties with short hair.
His figure was Ordinary, and his Appearance was unremarkable.
But his eyes were incredibly sharp.
He stared at the approaching crowd from Stream Village without a trace of fear.
Even when he saw Xiao Ning and the other Alien Race Lords, he merely frowned.
Xiao Ning led the people from Stream Village to face them.
She addressed the man at the front of the opposing group. "You’re Li Xun?"
The man nodded. "That’s right, I’m Li Xun. And how should I address you, madam?"
"Muchang Ning!"
"Muchang... Never heard of you."
Xiao Ning sneered. "Of course not. How could a country bumpkin bandit like you possibly know a member of our Holy Race? Surrender."
Li Xun laughed. "Our Celestial King Army and your Alien Race are supposed to be allies. The nobles haven’t been completely dealt with yet, so why are you starting to attack your allies?"
Xiao Ning was scornful. "Allies? We’ve never had allies, nor did we ever say we wanted to be allies with you. Besides, I simply can’t stand the way you bandits operate. I’m here to save the villagers."
"Hahahaha."
Li Xun shook his head, roaring with laughter.
"Holy shit... Save the villagers? You people? Hahahaha, am I still dreaming? I actually heard an Alien Race say they want to save our villagers? You can’t just spew bullshit like that."
"Hahahahahaha!"
The people around Li Xun all burst out laughing.
"Insolence! Are you looking to die?" Iwagaki drew his blade.
But Li Xun paid him no mind at all.
"Ooh, look at the ungrateful mutt drawing his blade. When your Human grandfathers invented the sword, your kind was still scrounging for shit to eat on the ground. And now you’re acting all high and mighty? Have you forgotten who you learned from?"
Iwagaki sneered and nodded. "Heh, a State Level Lord, just as arrogant as I expected. But in a moment, when ten of us Holy Race Lords surround you, we’ll make you kneel and eat shit for real."
"Oh my, you can even speak our language now. But can you write any of the words you’re saying?"
"Isn’t that enough, Li Xun?" Xiao Ning cut him off.
"Enough of what? Weren’t you the ones who invaded first? Can’t bear to hear me talk? Then hurry up and get the hell back where you came from!"
Xiao Ning smiled. "Li Xun, you’re just one person, with nine County Level Lords at most. But look at us."
Xiao Ning turned, gesturing to the Alien Race Lords beside her and then to the families behind her.
"See this? You call yourselves the Celestial King Army, but everyone knows you’re just a bunch of bandits who get by on robbery, extortion, and deceit. What do you possibly have to compare to our Holy Race?"
"Why don’t you try and find out?" Li Xun’s presence didn’t waver. "We have more people. If you’re not blind, you should be able to see that, right?"
Li Xun gestured to the people behind him as well.
In terms of the sheer number of Lords, Li Xun’s side did indeed have more.
Xiao Ning and Li Xun continued to trade barbs, each trying to suppress the other’s Morale.
Unfortunately, neither side had any intention of surrendering.
Zhao Chi stood silently in the ranks, adjusting his position to get a better look at the enemy Lords.
He could already see his classmate among them.
’After this battle is over, will he still be alive?’
Before long, the mutual taunting gave way to negotiation.
