Chapter 62: Hall of Fame
Looking at the small, pure black petal on his hand, Azrael couldn’t help but hesitate a bit as he wondered if he would encounter something dangerous if he consumed it. After all, while he might be immortal and indestructible in a sense, he can still succumb to all sorts of effects, and his body transforming into something he does not want is something among those effects.
Amidst the hesitation though, he decided to brave this as the temptation of a skill that will increase his stats by ten times is something that is just too good to give up for the uncertain risk that comes with acquiring it, this decision prompting the young man to close his eyes as he shoves the small black flower petal right into his mouth.
Right away though, he couldn’t help but regret his decision a bit as he felt an extremely repugnant taste, or better yet, experience in his mouth, the flower petal melting the moment it touched his tongue, turning into a vomit inducing liquid having that severe sulfuric smell countless times worse than a rotten egg, this already being enough to make Azrael’s eyes endlessly tear up in a pain more psychological than physical.
That wasn’t even the worst part though as despite already swallowing the liquid, the taste still sticks on his mouth, making him start running around in search for water or any possible liquid that can remove this taste from his mouth, completely forgetting that he has those items he is thinking about inside the spatial ring he is wearing in his left thumb.
Taking a good few minutes to realize this due to his mind being occupied by the trauma this little piece of flower petal dealt to him, the young man finally recalls that he has all sorts of beverages on his spatial ring, immediately going for a gallon-sized sack of water he stored there.
Drowning himself in the water he had taken out, he barely recovered to normal, a hint of the sulfuric flavor still remaining on his mouth, yet despite drinking water and trying his best to rinse it away as much as he could, it just refuses to go away from his tongue.
The only consolation for this traumatic experience is the fact that there’s another notification from the guide that he received, this making him smile widely despite still being troubled about how he should remove such disgusting taste in his mouth.
’Luckily for me, and weird enough, it doesn’t really smell...’ despite the strong taste though, he couldn’t help but wonder as there’s not a single trace of the disgusting taste on his breath, and in fact, it just smells as fine as when he left the city.
While musing on his thoughts, he read through the notifications coming his way, some little pieces of good news appearing along with the confirmation of his acquiring the Demon Transformation skill.
[Detected that the ascender consumed a corrupted natural treasure]
[A new skill: Demon Transformation is acquired]
[The ascender already reaches the limit of stats for the current floor, due to this, the life force absorbed by the Evil Fang Sword will go solely to the weapon, increasing its rate of growth]
