Chapter 83: Battle of Will
Her construct had almost withered away, its form barely effective, whereas there was still more of the Radiance surging through her. She wouldn't be able to calm or cultivate it in a short time. But perhaps she could seal it away in some mana apertures.
Thankfully, Ember seemed to have figured out the rhythm at which the currents were striking towards them, and was defending against them quite remarkably, giving her all the respite she required to finish with the Radiant Core.
Once she began to concentrate fully, the task became significantly easier. The absence of residual Will also helped. The radiance in her bloodline siphoned away the force ravenously. Her body was literally burning with all the force running through her, but that was barely an inconvenience compared to what she had been forced through moments ago.
It still took her a couple of hours to finish. The radiant force still brimmed throughout her form, but she could work with it. Some of it had infected her protégé, too. Thankfully, it was helpful rather than adding to his difficulty.
The abyssal currents had receded some time ago while she was busy with the aura of radiance, but Ember still clutched those sapphire gemstones tightly, palms aloft, teeth gritted. His Will, somehow still intact, kept two others afloat above them. Even Will Enforcement hardly explained that.
"Thank you," she said, turning to ease his palm. "You can rest easy now."
As soon as she tried to ease him, Ember collapsed onto her lap, the two mirrorstones falling to their side as his lingering will finally faltered.
He fell unconscious, but his jaws remained clenched tight, a deep frown etched between his brows, the mirrorstone still wedged between his teeth.
