Chasing Back His Beloved Beast Husbands

Chapter 134-Big softie

"Samahita?"

Sheana whispered. She clutched her chest. The pain she felt the previous night, the restlessness was from the attack.

Was her sister injured? Was she alright? What motivated her to do such a thing? How was Nerezza processing the death of her husband?

Princess Sheana was torn. She didn’t know if she should worry about her sister, feel for Nerezza who just lost a life partner or worry about herself who was left behind to receive the hatred of her sister’s actions.

"Samahita?" Aenyra asked.

She knew the ice phoenix well. They both practised the way of detachment and had worked together on multiple occasions.

Her impression of the princess was that she was calm, mature and caring to others. Picturing her take a life didn’t feel right. It was beneath her to use underhanded methods or be sly.

"Are you certain."

"You can have a look for yourself," Sseraphis said, he presented a memory orb and lit it up.

When the orbs light came on, it displayed vividly the scene of the groups betrayal from the moment they entered the underwater palace, the moment they struck their sneak attack, Rhysandor’s death, Nytherael’s counterattack and the group fleeing.

It was presented on the orb. Aenyra and Sheana watched with disbelieving eyes.

Why Samahita? Why would you do something like this? Sheana collapsed. Her knees buckled and she fell faintly to the floor clutching her chest.

No wonder the pain was so back, her twin was deeply wounded and the connection between them communicated the pain to her.

"Where is she? Are you hiding her?" Sseraphis accused.

"Ssese!" Aeltharion intervened. "Come with me," he took Sseraphis’ hand and guided him away.

Sseraphis didn’t want to leave, he wanted to press Sheana and find out what the girl new about Samahita’s whereabouts and ensure Sheana didn’t defile their house with her presence.

Aeltharion gave him no chance to do either. He dragged him away to the backyard to look after Nytherael.

"Can’t you stop and consider other beasts feelings for once in your life, venom?"

"Did her sister consider my feelings before she came for my life?"

"But Sheana was in my home at the time. She had nothing to do with the attack, why go off on her?"

Sseraphis freed his hand and went to peel fruits. The answer was simple, the sight of Sheana reminded him of Samahita and it provoked his pent up anger.

He needed an outlet and since Samahita was no where to be seen, he made do with the next best thing, her sister.

"Whose side are you on?"

"Yours," Aeltharion made gentle his voice. "But Ssese, Sheana is with Aeni now and you heard her, she wants to give their relationship a chance. Please don’t make things difficult for them."

"Difficult?"

"You remember how hard it was for us three when we got together for the first time?" He asked.

That sentence shut Sseraphis up. How could he forget? They had been three beasts from three different parts of the world with different beliefs and principles. Coming together for the first time felt like fate was brewing the perfect disaster.

"It wasn’t the happily ever after that’s preached in books after a couple gets together," Aeltharion joked. "It was that hard and we were willing...imagine how much harder those two much have it..."

Sseraphis peeled more and more fruit and didn’t say anything more. Aeltharion glanced over to Nytherael and added, "This is the last day I’m letting him lie there like that. Tomorrow, I’m going to put my foot down and force him to..."

Sseraphis chuckled. "Force him to what?" He challenged. "You big softie... Tomorrow, he’ll lie there and you’ll keep cooking his favourite food and hope the aroma snaps him out of it," Sseraphis spelt out the facts. "You’ll change his blanket on time, wipe his body down and change his clothes for him and comb his hair just right before tucking him in," he added.

He knew Aeltharion well. There was no chance for the dragon to be harsh to either of them. He wasn’t raised with a mean bone in his body or the strictness his family had.

"Then I’ll get Madam Zhen," Aeltharion raises his chin, pretending to be firm.

"Nmph," Sseraphis sighed and shoom his head. "And the minute she gets harsh with him, you’ll beg her to return home and promise her that you’ll handle it," he said and chuckled some more.

Aeltharion lowered his raised chin. Sseraphis had called him out perfectly. He really couldn’t find one bone in his body that could force Nytherael to face the death of his beloved best friend.

"But he can’t just..."

"Didn’t you say that the best thing we can do for him is to be here. Take care of him and hope that at the end of this dark tunnel, he finds light that helps him accept what happened?"

"I did say that, didn’t I?"

His love for Nytherael made him contradict himself. He cared too deeply and couldn’t stand just sitting by and doing nothing.

Sensing the train of his thoughts, Sseraphis spoke, "You’re not doing nothing, constant," he said, looking around at the obvious. "You’ve built his dream home. You’re constantly here for him, taking care of him and worrying about him. And that is all he needs from you right now."

Aeltharion’s face twitched with amusement at how wise Sseraphis had become.

"I’ll listen to you."

"You should. I’ve been told that I am wise and advice from me is a rare treasure," he bragged.

Aeltharion laughed. He had gotten worse but not humble. He leaned his head down and laid it on Sseraphis’ lap before throwing the rest of his body onto the seat.

"That wasn’t an invitation to lay on me. Get up!" He tried to move him, but Aeltharion relaxed like a log and didn’t intend to leave.

"I’ll dig my claws into your skin and poison you."

"Go ahead," Aeltharion gave him permission.

Sseraphis shook his head. He turned his head towards the fruits on the table and kept peeling them.

Whether Nytherael would be in the mood to eat them or not was unknown, however, he could always hand them to Yiwa and Tivnir.

On cue, Yiwa and Tivnir walked out from the house. They walked over in matching strides, seeing them, they looked every bit a couple.

"How was your rest?" Aeltharion asked without opening his eyes.

"It was nice. However, I feel bad resting when I should be serving all of you," Yiwa sounded.

"Your health is more important," Aeltharion uttered. "Don’t worry about us. There’s plenty of help in the house."

Sseraphis pinched him.

"Ouch," he scratched the pinched area. "I mean, Sseraphis has his hands full with the work so you don’t have to worry."

"How is that better than calling me the help?"
