Chapter 129-The scheme
Nerezza sat at the edge of a cliff. Her face was deathly pale and her mind, completely still.
There was so much chaos just moments ago but now it was gone. All the noise had vanished as though it was a figment of her imagination.
She held two crystals, one that preserved the memory of Rhysandor in his prime while the other held the memory of the image of him in his death.
The moments were frozen just like her heart. The vision she saw in the light kept finding ways to slip through the cracks of her still mind and torment her.
The whole time, she had spent weeks wondering how Rhysandor dies, what she can do to save him and that’s why when Hadrian came to her with the deal, she didn’t turn it down even though it meant stripping her brother of his mate.
"It’s payment for the mate he once cost me," she had said to justify her decision to grant Hadrian’s request.

A few hours before~
Back at the house in Ocov, Nerezza had been continuing her routine which revolved around worrying about Rhysandor and the vision of his funeral that she had seen.
"Wife, why don’t you tell me what’s wrong? I can’t bear to see you whither away like this everyday," Rhysandor tried to coax the truth out of her.
He gave her a massage, read to her, made sure she kept up her meals and even bought her all the red dresses he could find.
He rarely went into his coffin for a rest. He had noticed how uneasy Nerezza got every time he went close to it.
Nerezza had seen his care, felt his love and that only made her worry even more. She badly wanted to know how Rhysandor is set to die so that she could prevent it from happening.
"Sweetie, what is wrong? Did I make a mistake?" Rhysandor attempted again. He came with her favourite snacks, all rich in essense. He spared no expense to try and make up her mood so that she goes back to being happy. "I am ready to apologize for any mistake whether I am the one who is wrong or someone else."
Nerezza smiled. His love was true and yielding. "Stop talking so much," she scolded, not wishing to discuss her vision lest it makes him worry and leaves her frozen.
"I just want to know why my wife has lost her smile," Rhysandor sat on the floor at her feet and placed his chin om her knee and looked up at her. "Where has your smile gone? Who took it?
’Death!’ Nerezza thought, her heart aching with the pain of the loss she was yet to suffer.
She lifted her hand and caressed his hair. Her eyes softened as she saw his love reflected openly in his eyes.
No beast had ever lowered themselves for her in the way that Rhysandor always did. And to think she might’ve missed out on such a love had her mate not abandoned her.
"You are my smile," she admitted. ’and I have lost it because I am going to lose you.’
She didn’t put to words her thoughts. If she could, she knew what Rhysandor would say. He’d laugh it off and say, "All beasts die eventually, why cry over something that hasn’t happened yet. Let’s enjoy the moment while we still have it together."
Nerezza wanted to enjoy the moment but after everything she’d been through, she didn’t trust fate to handle things for her and let her experience joy. If she didn’t handle it herself, no one else would.
For two hours straight, Rhysandor rested on her feet. He fell asleep there like that and didn’t leave. It has been the case since she started acting cold and sad. He would always stick close to her, warm and present, hoping that would be enough to warm through the cold she was filling.
She appreciated it for him. She swore that once she changed his fate, she’d treat him even better and grant him the world at his feet.
He was the only grateful prayer she had to her brother. Rhysandor and her got to meet because he was friends with Nytherael.
She sat there. Completely still, scared to even breathe too loudly Incase she disturbs his sleep. He’d been worried sick about her that wrinkles were forming on his forehead.
"I’ll give a proper spa treatment once all of this passes," she said.
Just then, she heard a voice in her head she recognized. "I can...I can... help you save him..." The voice sounded weak, too weak to be healthy.
She knew it was the beast, Hadrian. He was held captive by Fairy Zarathia in her room. After Sseraphis poisoned his soul and transfered death into his body and fate strings, he had strength but no body or soul to wield it. He had all the knowledge and techniques but every time he tried to use them, he’d spit blood and his condition would worse .
Fairy Zarathia didn’t even bother to put up too much restrictions around him. He was dying with no way out, she was waiting it out because it was beneath her to kill a dying beast.
"You can barely save yourself. What can you do for me?"
"As you...you know... I am...the master of visions...I can tell you how Rhysandor....dies," Hadrian set a lure.
It was what Nerezza wanted more than anything. Knowledge about how he does so that she can save him and spent the rest of their lives together. She wanted nothing more.
"How do I know that you are telling me the truth?"
"You’ll...just... Cough...cough..." Even through the mental link he had formed, Nerezza could tell he was straining his energy. "Help me get...revenge on Sseraphis... And I’ll tell you how to save your husband...."
"What?" She panicked. "You want me to help you hurt Sseraphis. Are you crazy?"
First of all, Sseraphis was stronger than her, the most cautious beast she knew and harder to kill. If she tried, she’d be digging her own grave.
"He’s more powerful than me, hell kill me before I get to save my husband. No deal."
"I... Have it on good... Authority that... Sseraphis is badly wounded... He’s unconscious right now... You and the others can do it without a hitch..."
Nerezza frowned. "Who gave you this information? And what others?"
