Apocalypse Hoarder: I Have Billions in Supplies

Zhang Aihua nodded. "Okay, I’ll go right now."

When Roy emerged from the black hole teleportation, he worried that Jiang Si and her group might have ulterior motives.

He instinctively pulled his wife and daughter close, ready to flee at the first sign of trouble.

He only relaxed after seeing that the environment was decent. There were houses, ordinary people, and even children playing nearby. Everyone seemed friendly, so he sighed in relief and obediently followed Zhang Aihua.

Their base didn’t have many people, so a few more superpower users would make life much easier for everyone.

Housing and food could be arranged, and besides, they had plenty of supplies left by Jiang Si.

Roy’s family was assigned a small, two-story standalone house. Though it was just an unfurnished shell, it was more than enough for the three of them.

Roy was about to thank her when Zhang Aihua spoke, clearly wanting to be friendly. "For furniture and other things, you can go pick some out at the warehouse up front. It’s all stuff we’ve collected. You can claim basic living supplies on a per-person basis. Since you’re a superpower user, you’ll get an extra share."

Roy and his wife immediately broke into joyful smiles. "Thank you, we’re so grateful."

Zhang Aihua waved her hand. "It’s nothing." She then took out a copy of the base’s regulations and handed it to them. "These are a few things to keep in mind. Read them over. If you need anything, feel free to come find me."

Roy nodded gratefully. "Okay, I’ll be sure to read through them carefully."

"Mm."

As soon as Zhang Aihua left, they picked up the rule sheet and glanced over it. Roy’s excitement grew. "The base actually assigns land!"

Roy’s wife was happy for a moment, but then asked, puzzled, "But we can’t grow anything right now, can we?"

Roy said, "Having land is always a good thing. If the extreme cold ever disappears, we’ll be able to farm."

"Mm-hmm, that’s good."

They went to collect their things, picked out the allotted number of items, and began moving them into the house bit by bit. Suddenly, their daughter pointed to a patch of land behind them and shouted, "Daddy, look! There’s grass!"

She hadn’t seen green grass in so long that she cried out in amazement.

The moment she shouted, another child told her, "Silly, those are radish sprouts! They’ll grow into big radishes. That’s not grass!"

The children’s conversation piqued Roy and his wife’s curiosity. They turned and, sure enough, saw what their daughter had called grass. And there was a lot of it.

It was planted in vast patches, covering several acres with these radish sprouts.

To think that radishes could actually grow and survive in this extremely cold world... Roy and his wife’s anxieties about being in a new place finally began to fade.

’This is incredible.’ With radishes that could be grown, they wouldn’t have to worry about food in the future.

They were so glad they had come here.

Just as they were discovering the radishes, the hungry Mammoth also spotted the sprouts and prepared to run over and eat them.

Jiang Si produced some grain from her storage space and told it, "You can’t eat the radish sprouts, you hear me!"

Little Meng buried its head and ate ravenously, giving no sign it had heard Jiang Si at all.

’If that creature can’t control itself, it could destroy the base in minutes.’

Jiang Si pondered how to handle the mammoth. Thinking of Zhang Bosheng, who could accelerate plant growth, she went to find him. "I have some pasture grass seeds. Can you try to make them grow quickly?"

Zhang Bosheng thought for a moment. "I can give it a try."

Jiang Si immediately scattered the seeds on the ground. Zhang Bosheng used his superpower on them, but they didn’t react at all.

He speculated, "I think I can only accelerate the growth of plants that are suited to the current environment."

Jiang Si then took out some giant radish seeds.

Zhang Bosheng tried again. In an instant, the radish seeds grew at a visible rate, quickly maturing into massive, melon-sized vegetables.

Jiang Si continued, "So your limit for growing them at one time is two?"

Zhang Bosheng nodded honestly. "Any more than that, and I get a headache."

Jiang Si thought for a moment. "Alright, then from now on, you’re in charge of Little Meng. Whenever it tries to get near the other radish sprouts, just pop a couple of radishes out to lead it away."

She and Qin Shen still had to continue their search for Shen Baoying’s group. They couldn’t keep Little Meng with them.

It would have to stay at the base for now.

’And if it wants to eat its fill, it’ll have to earn its keep by plowing the surrounding land so everyone can plant more radishes.’

’Otherwise, with an appetite like that, we really can’t afford to feed it.’

Zhang Bosheng’s eyes widened in surprise. "I’m supposed to take care of it?"

He was afraid he would die from overexerting his power growing radishes for it.
