Our Anniversary, You Chose Her – I Chose Divorce

Chapter 695: Are You Trying to Kill Your Mom?

But who could have guessed they would start talking about divorce, and that Chloe Reed would suddenly find herself in danger?

Judith Pierce had never regretted her decision. Even now, she still wanted to drive Chloe Reed away.

’He’s the only son I have left. I can’t lose him, too!’

Walker Grant’s body went rigid. He reached out, grabbed Judith Pierce’s arm, and pushed her away. "Mom, I’m already getting treatment. I’ll be fine, you don’t have to worry about me."

"Hmph!"

Just then, Arthur Grant, who had been silent, snorted coldly. "Getting yourself into this state over a woman—do you think you’ve done right by us? You tell your mother not to worry, so why don’t you actually do something that gives her peace of mind? You’ve already gotten your older brother killed. Are you trying to kill your mother, too?"

"Arthur!"

At his words, Judith Pierce immediately turned to him, cutting him off before he could say more.

But Arthur Grant just sat down in a nearby chair, his face cold, and said, "I’m not wrong. If he continues to be so obstinate, then he really is trying to kill you. He won’t be satisfied until everyone in the Grant family is dead!"

"Stop talking!" Judith Pierce was frantic. ’We clearly agreed not to bring up the past, so why is he twisting the knife the moment he arrives?’

"Walker is already this injured. If you can’t comfort him, can you just shut up?" Judith Pierce pleaded, her eyes red.

Arthur Grant knitted his brows and glanced at her, saying nothing. His gaze simply shifted to Chloe Reed. "Why are you still here?" he said coldly.

Chloe Reed tensed up, feeling immense pressure. She pressed her lips together slightly.

Just then, her hand was suddenly taken.

Walker Grant’s large palm enveloped her small hand, transferring his warmth to her. He said in a low voice, "She’s my wife. I’m sick. Isn’t it normal for her to be here taking care of me? If you don’t like it, you can leave."

"Hah!"

Arthur Grant let out a cold laugh, staring at Walker Grant. Even though Walker couldn’t see, father and son seemed to lock eyes in some unseen realm, and the faint smell of gunpowder seemed to fill the air.

Judith Pierce immediately cut in, "Both of you, be quiet! One of you is injured and needs to recuperate, and the other just got off a plane and needs to rest. Not another word from either of you!"

Then, she looked at Walker Grant again, her tone softening. "Walker, what did the doctor say? And where’s Yu? Why isn’t she here?"

Walker Grant said flatly, "Doctor Linton gives me acupuncture and Chinese medicine every day. It’s an ongoing detoxification treatment."

Judith Pierce nodded. "That’s good. Yu’s medical skills are a true inheritance from her parents. She’s a good kid who’s serious about her studies; she’ll definitely be able to save you."

Then, her gaze fell on Chloe Reed’s face, her eyes instantly turning cold. "How exactly did Walker get hurt?" she asked.

"Mom."

Walker Grant spoke, his tone turning a few degrees colder. "She was injured, too. Don’t interrogate her."

"But she looks fine to me," Judith Pierce said with a frown. "You, on the other hand, are the one who’s so badly hurt."

Her face was filled with heartache for him.

Standing here now, Chloe Reed felt completely out of place. The pressure was immense, and she wanted to escape.

But as if sensing her thoughts, Walker Grant tightened his grip on her hand, not letting her leave.

His thumb gently stroked the back of her hand, as if to soothe her.

Chloe Reed lowered her gaze slightly, her long lashes trembling involuntarily. Her small face was a shade too pale, and her eyes held a deep emptiness.

"When you’re injured, you’re injured. There’s no ’more’ or ’less.’ It hurts either way; it’s painful either way," Walker Grant said in a low voice. "She takes care of me every day, so I’m getting better very quickly."
