Chapter 421 - 258: I Am Creating Opportunities for You
"You’ve heard about it already?!"
Fang Jie nodded. "This event is getting a lot of buzz online. I’ve seen it a few times while scrolling through videos."
"That’s a pleasant surprise. We didn’t do much in the way of online promotion."
"That just goes back to the core principle: content is king," Fang Jie said, speaking with confidence.
"The contestants are all young, attractive college students. Guys online love that kind of thing."
Since she worked in the media industry, Fang Jie was very frank when discussing these topics, not holding anything back.
"That was definitely part of the appeal when we organized this competition. But the main goal was to build brand awareness for the product. Everything else was secondary."
"So..."
Fang Jie looked at Lin Jiang. "Are you the owner of SuperPlay?"
"I’m an investor. My main focus is the media company."
"Oh, I see."
Fang Jie gracefully tucked her hair back. "What genre is your script?"
"Comedy."
"Comedies do well at the box office. Small investment, big returns. The market has had a real appetite for those kinds of films lately. When you have time, we can discuss the script. I actually studied film and television production, so I know a little about this stuff. After I read it, I can help you shortlist some directors, and then you can pick the one you think is the best fit."
"Thank you."
"Don’t mention it."
Soon, they were back down the mountain.
The mountain climbing activity was almost over, so instead of having lunch after they got down, they joined the children for a camping session. The tents were all provided by the school.
Fang Jie was a little tired from the climb, so she lay down in her tent to rest instead of going out to play with the others.
"So, how was the climb? I bet it was nice."
Wei Xue walked over, her voice full of gossip.
"You’ve got some nerve. You left on purpose, didn’t you?"
"If I hadn’t left, how could I have created an opportunity for you? Tell me, how’s his stamina? Was he out of breath when he reached the summit?"
’Thinking back to their climb...’
"Actually, I don’t think he was out of breath at all. By the time we reached the summit, I was exhausted, but he acted like it was nothing."
"That’s youth for you. All that energy."
Wei Xue sighed, her tone suggestive. "You two got to spend some quality time together. What’s your impression of him? Is he a good guy?"
’Remembering how Lin Jiang had stood behind her to shield her from view, Fang Jie’s opinion of him improved even more.’
"He’s very nice. A real gentleman."
"Tsk, tsk... just listen to you. You’re interested, aren’t you?"
"Don’t be ridiculous. I just think he’s a nice person. And he’s very professional when we talk about work, not all impulsive and reckless like some people."
"We’ve met plenty of handsome men over the years, but this is the first time I’ve ever heard you praise a guy like that. How about I come up with a plan to create another opportunity for you two tomorrow? Or..."
Wei Xue paused. "Or... after the kids are asleep tonight, you two could meet up for a bit?"
"Oh, stop. Be serious. We’re business partners now."
"Since you’re partners, you’ll have to discuss work. Wouldn’t it be better to meet up and chat about it?"
"That’s not necessary. We’ve already added each other as contacts, so we can chat on our phones. Besides, it’s not that urgent."
Wei Xue’s eyes lit up. "You already added each other? What does he post on his feed? I’m telling you, you can basically figure out a person’s entire personality from their social media."
"It’s set to only show posts from the last three days. There’s nothing there."
"That means he’s a private person and has a lot of self-control."
"You can figure all that out just from that?"
"It’s true for most people. Besides, look at him. He climbed a whole mountain without even getting winded. You can tell at a glance that he’s a man of great discipline," Wei Xue said.
"Look at those guys who live a life of excess—they’re gasping for air after a few steps, let alone climbing a mountain in one go."
Wei Xue’s analysis made a lot of sense.
But Lin Jiang wasn’t an ordinary person. A mere Shuangxia Mountain was truly nothing to him.
He could have had a second round and still climbed the mountain without any issue.
"Okay, okay, that has nothing to do with me. Let’s drop it."
Fang Jie cut Wei Xue off, partly to stop her from saying anything else outrageous, and partly to hide the frantic pounding of her own heart.
"You already got his number, and now you’re saying this? You pretend to be so aloof."
"You’re the one who’s pretending!"
"I’m different from you. I’m open about it."
"You’re unbelievable. You have no shame."
Meanwhile, Zhang Wanqiang walked over to Yu Bin.
"I forgot to ask you earlier. How was the climb? Did you get a chance to get close to her?"
"Fuck! Don’t touch me! My legs are killing me," Yu Bin said, grimacing in pain.
"What happened? It was just a mountain climb. It can’t be that bad, can it?"
"Why don’t you try climbing it in one go? I still haven’t recovered."
"That one mom’s name is Fang Jie, right? Her stamina’s pretty impressive, huh? She left you in the dust?"
"Left me in the dust, my ass! They just climbed too fast and didn’t wait for me. If they’d let me rest for a bit, it wouldn’t have been like this."
"You all came together. That’s not very cool of them," Zhang Wanqiang said, looking at Lin Jiang in the distance.
"Was it that other dad’s idea? I get the feeling he’s interested in Fang Jie, too."
"It’s super obvious. And he’s got a lot of tricks up his sleeve. Son of a bitch. I didn’t even get a chance to make a move," Yu Bin grumbled.
"Well, there’s still all of tomorrow. You just have to find an opportunity. But my opportunity is already here."
"What opportunity?"
