Chapter 350 - 331: Those in High Positions! Scheme for Matters, Not Fame
’It seems I’ll need to make a point of collecting more books on Divine Wonders. I need to understand what kinds of unfathomable techniques exist in this world! I really must read more and broaden my horizons! That way, my future judgments and analyses can be more precise and rational.’
’My strength is still insufficient!’ A longing flickered in Chen Ping’an’s eyes. ’If I possessed the abilities of a Grandmaster, would I be so hesitant and fearful?’
A Grandmaster has a lifespan of three hundred years, enough to witness the rise and fall of mortal splendor!
They possess numerous Divine Wonders and can even, to some extent, walk on air! Their Martial Arts Will is condensed to its absolute peak, and with it, they can even subdue an enemy without a single blow!
Every Grandmaster is a paragon of mastery in some aspect of the Martial Dao! They each have their own martial arts insights and unique, personal techniques.
Although those ranked in the top fifty of the Dragon and Tiger Chart can hold their own against a Grandmaster, exchanging hundreds of moves without being defeated, if the battle continues, their disadvantage will become apparent, and defeat in a prolonged fight is inevitable!
Only experts ranked in the top thirty of the Dragon and Tiger Chart are truly qualified to rival a Grandmaster.
Of course, this refers to true Grandmasters, not Pseudo Grandmasters who achieved a breakthrough like Cao Yingxiong!
Even among Pseudo Grandmasters, there are differences in strength. Those like Cao Yingxiong, who used a Secret Technique to force a breakthrough, are on the lowest tier. Some who failed to break into the Grandmaster Realm but retained a great deal of accumulated insight are considerably stronger.
There are even some Pseudo Grandmasters who delve into Secret Techniques and master combat tactics, possessing a good portion of a true Grandmaster’s power!
...
Although the Red Maple Market had just suffered a major attack, leaving countless loose ends and miscellaneous tasks to handle, the three major powers led by the Huang Family still prepared a grand banquet for Chen Ping’an.
Chen Ping’an had initially refused the banquet prepared by the three major powers. However, with the Ten Thousand Demons Sect’s chaos now properly resolved, coupled with his numerous gains and a massive increase in his personal wealth, Chen Ping’an was in a fairly good mood. After their repeated invitations, he finally accepted.
As evening approached, You Yongming returned and reported the details of his investigation. Traces of battle and bloodstains were still on Red Maple Mountain, but the bodies of the three from the Ten Thousand Demons Sect were gone, apparently having been collected.
Chen Ping’an had already anticipated this, so he wasn’t bothered when he received the news.
’When it’s time to get my accomplishments officially recognized, there’s bound to be some wrangling with the Qiankun Bureau. My only real weakness is that, judging by my Martial Arts Realm, my combat power shouldn’t be enough to slay three Elders of the Ten Thousand Demons Sect!’
’In fact, the Qiankun Bureau’s lineup would seem like a more plausible explanation!’
However, Chen Ping’an wasn’t too worried about this. If a suitable opportunity arose at the right time, he would naturally reveal his strength!
’My current combat power can slay the lowest tier of Pseudo Grandmasters. Revealing the strength of a Peak of Mid-stage Profound Light expert is no big deal. That still leaves me with plenty of leeway!’
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!
A knock sounded from outside the door.
"Come in!"
CREAK. As the door opened, You Yongming appeared in the room, his expression respectful.
"Sir, the banquet is ready. We can begin at any time. We are just waiting for you to head over!"
"Alright."
Chen Ping’an stood up and walked out of the room.
You Yongming bowed slightly, only straightening up after Chen Ping’an had passed him. He then followed behind him and walked out.
"Have the letters been sent?" Chen Ping’an asked casually as they walked.
"Replying to you, Sir, they have all been sent," You Yongming answered respectfully.
Chen Ping’an had sent people to deliver two letters in total. One was an official dispatch to the Weishui Garrison. The other was a handwritten order to the Five Peaks Mountain Residence, containing several commands.
The Ten Thousand Demons Sect had caused trouble in the Red Maple Mountain area, and although he had slain three Profound Light Elders, there was no guarantee that other Elders from the sect weren’t still around.
Furthermore, the fact that the Ten Thousand Demons Sect could sneak in so quietly suggested there was likely a stronghold of theirs nearby.
Chen Ping’an ordered the constables at the Five Peaks Mountain Residence to step up patrols, focus on the area around Red Maple Mountain, and investigate any suspicious individuals.
The Trade Route had just opened, and with the Beicang Auction also happening, things were already complicated enough. The last thing he needed was more trouble at this critical juncture.
As for the matter of the Ten Thousand Demons Sect’s stronghold, that was a delicate task requiring a meticulous, layer-by-layer investigation. There were, of course, specialists to handle such things.
At Chen Ping’an’s current rank, he no longer needed to handle everything personally or worry about every detail. As the Outer Trade Road Patrol Envoy, he only needed to manage the overall direction and make key decisions on important matters.
Chen Ping’an had no idea how many people would be set into motion by this single handwritten order of his. Nor did he have the inclination to concern himself with such trivial details.
For him, it was enough to just hear the final report!
This is also why so many superiors love to say, "Cut the crap and don’t give me excuses. I just need you to get results."
Because to them, a single deviation in your results can affect their entire decision-making network. They don’t want reasons; they want the final outcome.
If one area fails to meet its expected goal, their entire strategic plan must be adjusted accordingly.
At that point, from the superior’s perspective, they are the ones paying the price for your failure!
Of course, this is the mindset of a superior. In reality, the subordinates carrying out the orders will encounter too many problems and practical factors. All of these can lead to deviations in the final result.
