Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 82: Revised - 42 A Lone Battle

The Mythical Army hadn’t been on the battlefield for hundreds of years, basically engaging in various wars. They had seen all kinds of warriors, but when had they ever seen such bastards driving broken-down mechas, playing dirty tricks, and indistinguishable from vagrants or rogues? Unbelievably, these rogue mechas were so fearless and unafraid of death. Clearly, they were already lying on the ground, emitting black smoke and sparks, but within a few seconds, they rose again in a reborn posture, rejoining the battle.

Especially one battalion, all with broken mechas, as if whoever had the most broken one was the most glorious. This battalion had a way of dealing with the Mythical Army. Although they were not good at close combat, their evasion skills were significantly better than other Federation Mechas. During attacks, they used continuous interspersing and firepower control to forcibly cut off the Mythical Army’s coordination space, defeating them one by one.

After all, the Mythical Army was not a Heavenly God. Faced with these rogue mechas that swarmed in groups, retreated quickly when isolated, and were as slippery as eels, Wallace knew the mission was a failure here. He made a decisive call, without lingering, and commanded the Mythical Army to collectively break through.

The entire Mythical Army was divided into several small pieces, making the breakthrough difficult. The only concentrated unit, [Vajra], under Wallace’s lead, relied on powerful impact and extreme speed to charge repeatedly. Eventually, this Mythical unit composed of two companies and a platoon achieved a successful breakout at the cost of half their lives, fleeing hurriedly into the jungle.

This was the first time the Federation Special Mecha Forces had faced the Mythical Army head-on, defeating and annihilating half their strength. Seeing the mission target successfully rescued, the rogue mechas were ecstatic, celebrating wildly. They finally had something to brag about when they returned!

Watching from the ridge, Fatty was infuriated, connecting to the regional communication channel and cursing, "You bunch of idiots, with hundreds of mechas all in a broken state, collectively playing dead?! And you still let them escape after encircling them. Now that they’ve escaped, don’t let them come my way!"

Seeing the Mythical Army’s mechas heading for the ridge, Fatty couldn’t care to curse anymore and screamed, "Help! Russell is here with me! Get your asses here and save me! They’re killing me!"
