Chapter 194: Mission Accomplished
NO ONE’S POV
A few long years had passed by in a blur.
The day had finally come for the dangerous rival syndicate that Lily had spent so long working to destroy from the inside. Inside the main office of the compound, the syndicate leader stared wildly at the television screen. The news channels were showing his entire empire falling apart, his secret banking accounts frozen, and his illegal shipping routes seized by the authorities.
He fell onto his knees, pulling at his hair and screaming at the top of his lungs. "Who dared to betray me!!! Who was the bitch that leaked all of my top-secret files to the public?!"
Suddenly, the cold barrel of a gun was placed firmly against the back of his head.
The man slowly looked back over his shoulder, his eyes widening in absolute shock. "You!!!!" he roared, his voice shaking with pure fury.
It was the exact same quiet maid he had hired five years ago to work in his personal household. He had trusted her completely with his daily routines, never once suspecting her true identity. To find out that she was the mole who had ruined everything made his blood boil.
"You will deeply regret this..." the boss muttered through his teeth, glaring up at her. "My loyal men will find you, and they will tear you apart piece by piece."
Lily looked down at him with freezing indifferent eyes. Her expression did not change at all. "Oh..." she murmured smoothly. "And who exactly is going to make me regret this? Your loyal people? The same men who packed their bags and ran away the exact moment the bad news came out on the television?"
The leader choked on his words, looking around the empty, silent room. She was right. Everyone had abandoned him to save their own skins.
Lily did not give him another single chance to speak or beg for his life. Without a moment of hesitation, she pulled the trigger. A loud bang echoed through the office, and the man fell flat onto the floor, dead. A few dark drops of blood splattered across Lily’s pale cheek, but she did not even bother to wipe them away.
Finally, her brutal five-year mission had come to a total success. The second strongest syndicate in the entire country was completely gone. With their biggest rival wiped off the map, the Viella family was now officially sitting in the second position of power. And as for the first position...
Lily reached into her pocket and took out her phone, wiping the screen. She opened a news app to check the global rankings.
"Mr. Dante Moretti has once again proved his ultimate worth to the business world," the news reporter’s voice played from the speaker. "Becoming a highly successful billionaire and the absolute top heir at such a young age, he has completely secured the Moretti family’s position at the very peak of the underworld."
Lily stared at Dante’s handsome face on the small screen for a quiet second, then casually tossed her phone onto the desk. It was officially time for her to return home to her true lady.
Over the past five years, even though she was thousands of miles away fighting for her survival, Lily had made absolutely sure to receive constant, detailed updates about the Viella mansion.
Just as she had requested from the Master, her young lady had been incredibly spoiled and pampered during her absence. Viella had grown up with absolute freedom, and she had used it to cause total chaos. Lily knew every single detail about the massive commercial disasters and dramatic social scandals Viella had started. In fact, Viella was now famous across the entire country for her wild, unpredictable scandals.
But the worst piece of news had arrived just a few months ago. The media had gone completely crazy when the news spread that Viella had actually tried to secretly drug her own high-profile fiancé. And that fiancé was none other than the first-place heir himself, Dante Moretti. Viella’s obsession with her childhood crush had clearly turned highly dangerous.
A soft bump shook the cabin as the large airplane finally came to a complete stop on the tarmac. The doors opened, and Lily walked out into the warm air. She stood at the top of the steps, looking out at the old, familiar city skyline.
She was no longer the young girl who had left five years ago. She was stronger, deadlier, and completely free. And she had a very chaotic lady to go fix.
Reaching the grand Viella mansion, Lily stepped out of the car. The massive courtyard was completely quiet,. She did not bother going to the servant quarters to drop off her bags. Instead, she walked with silent steps straight toward the Master’s old private office.
As she stood just outside the doors, she could hear a heated conversation happening inside.
"I do not care what you think you can do anymore, the main company is entirely under my control now, Father," a deep, smooth voice stated firmly from inside the room. "I am the one running the operations now, and I won’t tolerate your old, outdated methods any longer."
Mr. Viella let out a loud, angry cough. "You think because you have a few successful years under your belt that you can talk down to me, Lucian? I am still the head of this family!"
"You were the head," Lucian replied, his voice completely calm but incredibly cold. "But look around you. The board members answer to me now. I am no longer that teenage boy you can just threaten and scare into obedience. I have built my own power, and you cannot take it away from me."
Lily paused in the hallway, listening closely. The voice speaking to the old Master was much deeper and far more commanding than she last remembered. Right... she had not met or spoken to Lucian ever since that intense night at the masquerade party five years ago. He had completely changed from a stubborn, hot-tempered boy into a powerful young man.
Just then, the doorknob turned, and the office door swung open violently. Lily quickly stepped to the side of the corridor to clear the path.
A incredibly tall figure stepped out into the hallway, breathing heavily with lingering annoyance from the argument. As he strode forward, he was about to walk right past her without looking, but then he suddenly stopped. Lily stood perfectly still, realizing that Lucian had grown way taller than her now. His broad shoulders completely blocked the light from the window, casting a long shadow over her slender frame.
As he slowly began to turn his head to look down at the person standing in the shadows, Lily did not wait for a greeting. She shifted her weight and walked straight past his arm, stepping directly into the office to see the old Master.
Because she moved so quickly, Lucian only got a faint glimpse of her dark hair as she brushed past him. But in that split second, a very familiar, unique fragrance hit his nostrils- the exact same scent of winter air that he had thought about for the last five long years. His eyes widened slightly in the quiet hallway as he turned around to stare at the closing door.
Mr. Viella looked up from his grand desk, a dark smirk spreading across his aged face. "Well, look who is finally back from the dead."
Lily did not smile, nor did she bow. She walked straight to the desk and slid a thick stack of finalized paperwork across the smooth wood. "With this, my official job for you is completely over. From now on, I would appreciate it if you never interfere with my life again, Mr. Viella."
Without giving the old Master any more face or waiting for his reply, she turned on her heel and walked out of the office.
As she stepped out of the front doors of the main mansion and into the sunny courtyard, she noticed an expensive sports car idling near the driveway. As she walked past it, her dark eyes naturally fell upon the side mirror. For a split second, she made direct eye contact with the driver through the reflection. It was Lucian.
The moment their eyes locked, the tinted car window rolled up smoothly, completely blocking her view, and the sports car tore down the driveway, driving away at full speed.
Someone is clearly not willing to welcome me back, Lily thought, shrugging her shoulders indifferently as she continued walking. She was not bothered by it at all. From the updates she had received, she already knew that Viella had moved out into her own private estate, just like all the other grown Viella children had done over the years.
A short drive later, Lily arrived at her young lady’s private mansion. The moment she reached the entrance and stood directly in front of the grand double doors, a loud gun shot suddenly rang out from inside.
"Ahhh!" a terrified male designer screamed, running out of the house at full speed. He was clutching a bundle of bright fabrics and colorful clothes tightly against his chest, sprinting right past Lily to save his life.
Lily did not even blink. She calmly stepped through the open doorway and looked inside the spacious foyer.
Viella was standing in the middle of the room, holding a smoking pistol, her beautiful face completely fuming with anger. "I will never wear such ugly dresses! Get out of my sight!" she shouted after the running man.
"Then what exactly would you like to wear, My Lady?" Lily spoke up, her voice calm.
The moment the familiar voice echoed in the room, Viella’s head whipped around. Her angry expression instantly shattered, replaced by pure joy. Before Lily could even react, Viella dropped her gun onto the floor and jumped right onto her, wrapping her arms tightly around Lily’s neck.
"Lily! I missed you so, so much!" Viella cried out happily.
Lily’s entire body went completely stiff. She was entirely unused to such warm, physical affection, and she stayed quiet, remaining as rigid as a stone statue.
Viella pulled back slightly, glaring at her with a cute, pouting expression. "Can’t you just say ’me too’ for once?"
Lily looked at her lady’s bright eyes, her own expression softening a tiny bit. "I... me too, My Lady," she said softly.
Viella smiled warmly, letting go of her and smoothing down her own hair. "I heard from Father that you left all those years ago to find your lost family members. Did you actually find them?"
Lily, who was standing right in front of her, suddenly went dead quiet. The images of the hotel mission from years ago, the masked attacker, and the identical scar burned into his hand flashed vividly in her mind.
After a long silence, Lily slowly looked back up at her lady. "You are right. I did look for them... but I never found them."
