Chapter 186: Golden Core Through Daily Beatings
Selvara led Damian to the training field, and his mood instantly sank.
For some reason, the place looked less like a training ground today and more like an execution ground prepared especially for him.
Selvara stopped at the center and turned around. "Now, I am going to teach you how to step into the Golden Core Realm."
Damian straightened slightly. "Golden Core Realm?"
Selvara’s cold eyes stayed on him. "Do you know how to form a Golden Core?"
Damian rubbed his chin. "Isn’t it just based on my cultivation manual? Gather Qi, compress it, then form a Golden Core inside the dantian?"
Selvara nodded. "Good. At least you know the basic idea."
Damian blinked. "That sounds like praise, but why does it feel insulting?"
"Because it is both," Selvara said calmly.
Damian’s mouth twitched.
Selvara continued, "At Peak Foundation Establishment, your Qi has already reached the limit. To become a Golden Core cultivator, you must compress your Qi, refine your foundation, and condense everything into one stable core."
Damian nodded seriously this time.
Selvara glanced at him. "Do you also know that some cultivators use beast cores to make the process easier?"
Damian paused. "Beast cores?"
Selvara nodded. "A monster beast’s core already contains condensed energy. Some cultivators use it as support when forming their own Golden Core. It can reduce the difficulty and help stabilize the process."
Damian’s eyes widened slightly. "I didn’t know that."
He thought for a moment, then asked, "But forming one core by myself is better, right?"
Selvara’s gaze softened by a tiny amount. "Yes. Using outside help is not always bad, but relying too much on it can lower the quality of your Golden Core. If you want a strong path, you need to form your core with your own foundation."
Damian nodded slowly. "So beast cores are like cheating with a price."
Selvara turned her hand slightly. "More or less."
Damian clicked his tongue. "Cultivation really hates lazy people."
Selvara’s lips curved faintly. "Exactly."
For some reason, that tiny curve made Damian feel worse.
Selvara placed one hand on her sword hilt. "To form a good Golden Core, you need three things. Pure Qi, a perfect foundation, and a strong body that can survive the compression."
Damian’s face stiffened. "Survive?"
Selvara’s faint smile became sharper. "Yes. If your body is too weak, your own Qi will crush your meridians before the core even forms."
Damian suddenly remembered her earlier words about training him personally.
His back went cold.
Selvara looked at him with clear satisfaction. "Now then, let’s train."
Damian frowned, not only because of the training.
The bigger problem was that if Selvara locked him here until the Sword Tomb, he would not be able to casually go around gifting women.
That was a serious issue.
A very serious issue.
For Damian, missing beautiful women was already painful.
Missing system rewards was even worse.
He coughed lightly and raised one hand. "Master, before we begin, can we discuss the schedule?"
Selvara looked at him. "No."
Damian’s expression stiffened. "I haven’t even said anything yet."
Selvara sneered. "I already know you are about to say something shameless."
Damian wanted to argue, but after seeing his master’s cold expression, he could only sigh.
---
One week before the Sword Tomb opened, Damian finally succeeded.
Inside the training field, his body sat at the center of a cracked stone platform.
Thick Chaos Qi swirled around him like a violent storm, pressing against the ground until small cracks spread in every direction.
His dantian trembled.
The massive sea of Qi inside him compressed again and again, shrinking from a wild ocean into a single spinning point.
Damian gritted his teeth.
"Damn it... this hurts like hell."
A moment later, the compressed Qi suddenly collapsed inward.
BOOM!
A deep pulse spread through his body.
His meridians shook, his bones rang, and a round golden core slowly formed inside his dantian.
However, unlike an ordinary Golden Core, Damian’s core carried faint chaotic colors beneath the golden light.
His aura erupted as he finally stepped into the Golden Core Realm.
Damian slowly opened his eyes.
For several breaths, he did not move.
A moment later, he released a long breath of relief. "I survived..."
He lifted both hands and almost cried from pure happiness. "I actually survived that damn hell training."
Not far away, Selvara stood with her sword in hand, her expression calm but her eyes carrying a faint trace of satisfaction.
"As expected of my disciple," she said. "In only three months or so after entering this sect, you went from Foundation Establishment to Golden Core Realm."
Damian looked at her with dead eyes. "Master, you say that like you didn’t beat me half to death every day."
Selvara’s gaze remained cold. "That is why you succeeded. After all, I am your master."
Damian opened his mouth, then closed it again.
He really did not want to argue with this crazy woman right after surviving her training.
Selvara looked at him for a moment before continuing, "Your Golden Core is quite stable. With this, you are qualified to enter the Sword Tomb and should be able to survive there."
Damian’s expression finally brightened. "Then... I can go out now?"
Selvara stared at him silently.
Damian immediately straightened. "I mean, I will go out for proper preparation, information gathering, and very serious sect-related matters."
Selvara’s eyes narrowed slightly. "Women?"
Damian placed one hand on his chest. "Master, how can you always misunderstand your pure disciple?"
Selvara said flatly, "Because I know you."
Damian coughed.
Selvara turned around. "Go. You have one week before the Sword Tomb opens. Do not cause trouble."
Damian’s eyes shone.
Finally.
Freedom.
Beautiful, sweet, long-awaited freedom.
He almost wanted to kneel and thank the heavens.
"Finally... finally, it’s time to gift again."
Damian quickly bowed. "Thank you, Master. This disciple will definitely prepare properly and absolutely will not disappoint you."
Selvara glanced back at him. "You sound suspicious."
Damian’s face remained righteous. "Master, that is because my sincerity is too strong."
Selvara looked at him for another breath.
Damian’s back straightened even more.
A moment later, Selvara waved her hand. "Leave."
Damian did not hesitate for even one second.
He turned around and rushed away from the training field as if a monster beast were chasing him from behind.
Selvara watched his disappearing figure and quietly shook her head. "That brat..."
Her voice was cold, but the faint satisfaction in her eyes did not disappear.
No matter how shameless Damian was, his breakthrough speed and foundation were real.
