Incubus Lord: Lust Harem System

Chapter 265: Without the Mask

Damon was already seated at the long dining table when the door opened.

He heard the room change before he saw why.

The quiet clatter of chopsticks stopped. Ariel’s soft humming cut off mid-note.

Mio set down her tea cup with a small, careful click.

Even Neko, who had been batting a steamed bun across the table with one finger, went completely still.

Damon turned.

Lumina stood in the doorway.

No bindings. No disguise necklace. No Lark.

Just her.

She wore a simple white robe, loosely tied, her golden hair falling free around her shoulders in long, luminous waves.

Her blue eyes swept the room with the careful, measured calm of someone who had spent years learning to walk into spaces without flinching, and her posture was straight and unhurried, though the faint color rising along her cheekbones gave her away.

She was breathtaking.

Not in the way that demanded attention.

In the way that made the room feel smaller, like the air had quietly rearranged itself around her.

Ariel was the first to move.

She stood from her chair, her vivid blue eyes wide and bright, and crossed the room in three quick steps before pulling Lumina into a warm, unhesitating embrace.

"You’re so beautiful," Ariel said simply, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Lumina blinked, clearly not expecting that.

"I, thank you," she managed.

Mio appeared at Ariel’s shoulder almost immediately, her deep purple hair loose around her face, her expression open and genuinely delighted.

"She’s right. You’re stunning." Mio tilted her head.

"Why were you hiding that?"

"It’s complicated," Lumina said carefully.

Mia materialized beside her twin, arms folded, one brow arched.

"You look like a painting," Mia said flatly. Then, after a beat, "

That’s a compliment."

Lumina let out a small, startled laugh.

Ariel linked her arm through Lumina’s and guided her toward the table like she had always belonged there, pulling out the empty chair beside Damon without a second thought.

"Sit. Eat. We have a lot to talk about."

Lumina sat.

Damon watched from across the rim of his tea cup.

Flare had not moved from her seat.

She was leaning back in her chair with her arms crossed, her sharp orange eyes tracking Lumina with the kind of slow, assessing look she gave everything she was not yet sure about.

Her jaw was set. Not hostile, exactly. Just calculating.

Seraphina sat beside her, her emerald eyes quiet and thoughtful, her chopsticks resting untouched across her bowl.

She was watching Lumina with a calm that looked composed on the surface but carried a faint tension underneath, the kind that came from someone doing quiet arithmetic in their head.

Damon read them both easily.

’The harem just got more crowded.’

Neither of them said it. But they were both thinking it.

He did not blame them.

They had all carved out their place in this group through blood and pain and months of grinding cultivation.

A new face at the table, especially one this striking, was not nothing.

He let it sit.

They would find their footing.

At the far end of the table, Selene sat with her back straight and her platinum hair falling over one shoulder, a cup of cold tea held between both hands.

She was staring at Lumina with an expression Damon had never seen on her before.

Open, unguarded surprise.

Her frosty composure had not cracked, exactly, but it had shifted.

Her pale eyes moved over Lumina’s face with a kind of careful, almost disbelieving attention, like she was recalculating something she had been certain of.

"Lark," Selene said quietly.

Lumina met her gaze.

"Lumina," she corrected, gently but clearly.

Selene was quiet for a moment.

"I see," she said finally, and something in her expression settled, not cold, just thoughtful.

She lifted her tea cup and took a slow sip, returning her eyes to the window.

That was all she said.

Damon turned to the other end of the table.

Mei sat with one leg crossed over the other, her deep purple qipao pulled smooth across her curves, her full lips curved into a slow, knowing smile.

She was watching Lumina with the relaxed, unhurried satisfaction of someone watching a play whose ending they already knew.

She did not look surprised.

Not even slightly.

Not a single flicker of those deep purple eyes, not even the faintest tightening at the corner of that perfectly painted mouth.

While Selene had needed a quiet moment to recalibrate, and even the twins had exchanged a brief, wide-eyed glance across the table, Mei simply sat there in the unhurried stillness of a woman for whom this revelation carried no weight at all.

Damon studied her for a moment longer than he had studied anyone else in the room.

’She knew about her.’

Not suspected.

Not guessed, not pieced together through sharp observation or cultivator instinct. Knew. With the settled, unshakeable certainty of someone who had confirmed the answer long before the question was ever asked.

The certainty of it was written in the complete absence of any reaction on her face.

No widened eyes, no pause, no recalibration.

Just that quiet, pleased smile, like a woman watching a chess piece finally move to the square she had always intended for it.

He filed that away.

Mei Nightrider was at Saint Spirit Realm Peak.

That was not a cultivation level you reached by accident or by staying comfortable.

Someone at that level belonged in the Central Continent, where the real power gathered, where the old families and ancient sects competed for territory and influence at scales that made the Eastern Continent look like a village dispute.

She had no reason to be here.

Not unless she was waiting for something.

Or someone.

He looked at her again, at the easy, predatory patience in those deep purple eyes, and thought about how she had appeared at Fire Valley the exact moment he needed her.

How she had been in close with Hector, and how even the sect leader called her ’lady’.

How she had stood in the shadows of the Sky Cutter and watched him fight without intervening.

Always watching. Always close.

Always one step ahead of where she needed to be.
