Chapter 112: A Coin
Novus was taken aback by the offer.
After all, the only thing he ever wants is to continue growing in peace right now, and for the academy to voluntarily help him in doing so, all while still receiving a precious wish from one of the acknowledged greatest mages among every mage in the world.
"Just being able to steer free from the chaos of fame is more than enough for me right now, Headmaster." hence why he told the wise old man his only wish, causing an amuse laughter to come out of the old man’s mouth.
"Hohoho, young one, modesty is such a great trait to have, it prevents greed from corrupting your soul... however, one also needs to know when to be modest and when to be not..." the old man stood up, walking near the door of the student’s room before turning around and giving him one more gaze as if waiting for something.
"Then, can I hold onto the wish for now?" Novus asked with slight hesitance in his voice, after all, it is one of the strongest being in the world that he is talking to right now, and even if he wants to ignore it, he couldn’t help but feel like all the mana within this area is not his to command right now, as if his status as a mage is reduced to nothing in front of the person watching his every move.
The old man laughed once more as he heard the young man’s question, prompting him to pull something from his pocket, a shiny glint lighting up for a second before he threw the object towards the young man’s direction.
It was thrown with such speed that even Novus, with all of his strength and the sharpness of his senses, was initially taken aback, prompting him to reach out in a rush to receive whatever it was that was thrown.
It was a token revealing an eight-pointed star on one side and a crescent moon on the other, something that seems to verify the identity of someone more than anything else.
"My promise stands, child of Argenta, but you seem to lack nothing for now, so think about it, and when you’ve thought of your wish, then come to me with that wish-granting coin..."
The headmaster spoke once more with glee and satisfaction in his tone, his figure not even going through the door as he just disappeared, leaving the sound of his laughter in the room where the young mage was left alone with his thoughts.
’As expected of a Great Mage...’ plopping down his bed as he felt pressure just from keeping himself calm talking with the academy’s headmaster, Novus thought to himself, respect welling up from his being as even he himself knew the kind of deeds this old man had done for the sake of the academy, abandoning fame, fortune and power just so he can guide the seeds of the future.
Of course, his guidance is quite the rough one considering the fact that each and every single thing about the academy pushes them to the brink of their limits, possibly even beyond said limits; however, it is only reasonable as the academy wants to produce brilliant mages, and brilliance is something that is created under severe and repeated tempering.
’I still have a long way to go, huh...’ staring at the screen in front of him, Novus thought to himself as the progress from the couple of vacant days that passed after the incident felt way too small, especially when comparing himself to how much more he needed to do in order to reach the level of beings such as the academy’s headmaster.

’Really, what an absurd limit...’ still feeling impressed with how much he can surpass the theoretical limits of what an E Tier Mage can handle in terms of stats, Novus couldn’t help but smile as he realized that he might just be setting too high a target for his current self.
After all, it is already impossible for average E tier mages to break past the three hundred Arcane stats limits, not to mention their physical stats will fall even shorter.
As for himself, he had already grown to the point that it was even possible for him to fight against D tier mages, making him realize that he had progressed quite quickly ever since he acquired the system and the Evolution Domain.
’My resources are running low, but it’s still a bit long before I can enter again...’ he mutters to himself as he looks at both his remaining supplies of Evolution Crystals in the Storage Space, as well as how long it will take for him to enter the Evolution Domain once more, both revealing information that is quite detrimental for him.

That is nearly enough to reduce the masculine appeal, however, as his tall height, as well as his powerful frame, screams nothing less than a fatally attractive appeal to anyone who would catch their eye on his figure.
It didn’t take him long to inspect the changes on himself as he felt like it was nothing too significant, ending the inspection with a satisfied nod as he put on his clothes, a smile peeking on his lips as he reached for the door, a tinge of anticipation unbeknownst even to himself appearing in his eyes as his mind went on his plan to meet someone.
