Chapter 103: This Isn’t Over Yet

"D-don’t let them escape!!" taken aback by the sudden retreat of the rogue field staffs, the loyal ones shouted after a few moments of watching their opponents flee, the shout causing excitement and moral to surge all over them prompting most of them to move their bodies to give chase.

Only most of them, that is.

Despite the hatred and the feeling of betrayal overwhelming most of these elite mages from knowing their highest priority, some of the more experienced ones still kept in mind what they were, what they are here for, shouting to snap the younger operatives out of their hateful chase and reminding them of their true objectives.

"No!! Pull back! Protect the students!! We don’t know whether this is a trap or not!!" one older field staff reminded with firmness in her voice, causing all other who were already rushing towards the traitors to pause as the idea also appears to be plausible in their mind.

"This isn’t over..." meanwhile, seeing her allies running away from the scene, Venica threatened with a serious, yet defeated expression on her face as she gazes at her opponent, Medea, the strength this swordswoman possesses something that she never expected, strength that nearly caught her defenseless on several occasions during their fight.

"Where do you think you’re going—" hearing her target’s words, Medea couldn’t help but gnash her teeth in a mixture of anger and urgency, her blade surging with wind elemental spell in an attempt to reach Venica as she swings once more, however, the triple elemental mage already made her move.

Ice blooms into flower before eventually collapsing into the thinnest of ice, prompting Medea to swing her blade not to attack her opponent, but rather to defend herself as she felt extreme danger from each of those ice needles.

The wind swirling around her blade allows her to fend off all the ice needles coming for her before she shifts her stance shifting all of her weight on her front foot attempting to explode forward with her other one in order to cross the gap between herself and the opponent in front of her.

Only, the opponent is no longer just a few meters in front of her, as the figure is already quite the distance away, using wind elemental magic to hasten her movements across tree branches.

Seeing this, Medea’s frustration rises to an all-time high, mana dancing prepared around her body as she began pushing not only Blade Enchantment Magic, but also wind elemental magic, to its very limits, intending to give chase without a care in the world at all.

"Medea." Only for her to snap back into consciousness once more as she heard that familiar flat, almost deadpan voice, a familiar figure standing by the distance, quite distorted by the mess created by his previous fight.

"Hah... fine, big sister here won’t give chase..." still, knowing him for a few days, she can already pick up the minute, yet nevertheless concerned tone on his seemingly cold voice, causing a smile to be revealed on her face as she shook her head, trying to calm herself down, knowing that he doesn’t want her to give chase as well.

If only she can see through the dust unsettled from the fight between the figure, Novus, and his opponent, Medea would’ve been surprised seeing the expression on his face right now.

A smile, a relieved one, just from her listening to his words he hadn’t even got the chance to say.

"I’ll try to catch her for you instead." Still sporting that smile on his face, Novus told the lady as his figure blurred because of his speed, just a moment later, only Medea can see his back as he leaps from tree to tree, just a few more moments, his figure is already gone in the distance.

’Humph!! Leaving me to clean up all his mess...’

"Fufu~~ honestly..." despite the initial feeling of frustration being left behind to explain to the field staff what just happened, Medea couldn’t help but feel soft once more as she recalls why he really want her left behind, her safety being important for him something that is already more than enough for her right now.

’Just for now, that is~~’ she added to herself as she walks through the battlefield in which he fought with who appears to be the strongest among the traitors, feeling quite shocked as she finally witnessed said mage’s current state.

"Impressive..." coming from a family centered around blades, of course, it isn’t all that new to them to completely incapacitate opponents that they can take information from, preventing all means of escape by removing their ability to move.

Still, she couldn’t help but admire how decisive Novus can be, removing all means of escape for the fire elemental mage by not only preventing him from walking, but also preventing him from casting any spell as well.

’Fufu~~ he cannot even take his own life...’ seeing the severed tongue on the ground, she couldn’t help but giggle to herself admiring quite a bit how ruthless his method is, completely uncaring to how brutal this fire mage’s end came to be.

"Student Medea..."

Snapped out of her analysis of how Novus completely incapacitated his previous opponent now lying down flat on the ground, she heard herself being called by an elderly, composed voice, seeing the uniform of a field staff as she looked up.

Due to her experience with Venica, as well as seeing how many traitors were in the field staff’s midst, she couldn’t help but tense a bit as she watches this staff approach, her blade now on her hand prepared to draw it anytime.

’Good... she doesn’t lose vigilance... this is how a model student should be...’

Meanwhile, seeing how the eldest daughter of the Heavenblade clan acts in front of her, the field staff couldn’t help but smile in admiration, quite impressed with how the young lady continues to keep her guard up despite the hardest moments for them already coming into past.

"Don’t worry, even if I am a traitor, there would be nothing I can do to you with that strength, right?"

Pointing at the group of operatives approaching them, the elderly lady smiles in an attempt to assure the student in front of her, said student gradually loosening the grip on her sword as she began to relax but not fully yet, seeing that the elder’s words have some truths to it.

"Miss Medea!" some of the field operatives greeted as they saw her appearance, giving quite the respect to a lady far younger, far less experienced than them for a sole reason.

Being members of the Heavenblade Great Clan, showing respect to the eldest of the main family is basic manners to them, not to mention their personal respect for this lady who raised herself to the level of a genius near unreachable among her peers.

"Seniors, here, I am not the young lady of the Heavenblade, but a student..." dismissing their respectful bow with a genuine smile seeing that none among them turned traitor, Medea declared as she waves her hand, reminding them that in this place, the Galilea Magic Academy, their status as staffs stands higher than hers as a student.

"By the way, miss, no, Student Medea, can we know what happened here?" composing themselves after hearing her words, one of the staffs who came from the Heavenblade clan asked while looking at the fire mage once threatening them to death now falling to such a helpless state.

"About that..." seeing that there would be no way for her to get out of it as she’s Novus’ only accomplice, Medea couldn’t help but feel a bit helpless as a wry smile appears on her face, showing her best acting skills as she began weaving truths and lies, knowing full well from all their interactions so far that Novus doesn’t want to reveal his identity yet.

"I... don’t know much myself but..."
