Chapter 390 - 67: Assassinate Tan Yue? Dominant Assault
Faces flashed through his mind.
Finally, he raised an eyebrow. The image of a masked assassin settled in his mind.
’Raccoon Cat?’
...
...
"I’m surprised. I never thought someone as proud as you would come to me for a partnership."
A figure in a baseball cap sat at a window seat in the coffee shop, dressed in a gray baseball jacket. He occasionally stirred the coffee in front of him, letting the hot steam drift into the air.
His gaze was fixed on the Jinggang Chamber of Commerce building at the end of the road. His voice traveled silently through his wireless earpiece. "Raccoon Cat, let’s say I back out. You’d come after me, wouldn’t you?"
"Heh."
A magnetic male voice replied through the earpiece.
"It’s been a while. I see you’re still the same pain in the ass."
"If I recall correctly, you have a bone to pick with the Jinggang Chamber of Commerce as well, don’t you?"
His voice was calm, with no deliberate provocation.
But the man in the gray baseball jacket raised an eyebrow, sitting in his chair in silence for a moment.
"How did you know?"
"Intel, of course."
It was as if he could see his expression.
Standing on a rooftop a hundred meters away, Raccoon Cat chuckled softly.
As always, he was dressed in a black trench coat and his Raccoon Cat mask. He stood at the edge of the rooftop, silently surveying the streets below.
The comm channel went quiet. Finally, Raccoon Cat broke the silence.
"So, what’s your decision?"
he asked.
The man in gray was, like him, a Frenzied Shark-class assassin from Deep Sea, codenamed ’Iron Arrow’. He wasn’t weak; he had once successfully assassinated two Limit-Breaking Level experts and could even hold his own for a few moves against someone at the Exploration Level.
’If he agreed, the mission’s chance of success would undoubtedly increase.’
"I don’t want anyone investigating me again."
The man in the gray baseball jacket, ’Iron Arrow,’ said in a low voice, putting the matter to rest.
Then, he continued.
"The Jinggang Chamber of Commerce has deep roots. Tan Yue himself knows multiple Martial Skills. If he fights desperately, he can tie one of us up for a while."
He stirred his coffee, his voice low, but no one nearby could hear him.
"There’s also his security detail. Six are Elite Level, with over thirty more fully armed fighters trained in firearms."
"They’re not much of a threat to us, but with their firepower, they can hold out for several minutes—long enough for patrol teams and reinforcements from the Jinggang Chamber of Commerce to arrive. This is inside the city circle, after all. Are you confident?"
’Iron Arrow’ voiced his greatest concern.
It wasn’t that he hadn’t thought about assassinating Tan Yue and getting his revenge in the process.
But this was the Red Maple City Circle. It would be difficult to pull off, and even if he succeeded, drones and surveillance cameras would make him easy to track. Escape would be nearly impossible.
"I wouldn’t have come to you if I wasn’t sure."
As if he had expected this, Raccoon Cat lightly touched his earpiece. "It won’t just be the two of us this time."
"I have a friend, a skilled technician. You’ve probably heard of him—’Black Spider’. He’s well-known in hacker circles. He’ll help us hack the convoy’s comms, jam their communications, and delay the arrival of their backup..."
His explanation was methodical, evidence of a well-thought-out plan.
He even had backup plans and several escape routes. On top of that, he could use the hacker to jam electromagnetic signals, disabling drone swarms and street-level surveillance for a short period.
"Black Spider... You’ve really thought of everything."
At these words, a flicker of surprise crossed ’Iron Arrow’s’ eyes.
’This Raccoon Cat is even more reliable than the rumors say. He’s even got a hacker lined up.’
"But are you that certain our guy from the Jinggang Chamber of Commerce will even show up?"
"Of course."
Raccoon Cat said confidently, "The Beast Tides are running rampant, and people are causing trouble in the buffer zones outside the city. The City Guard Army garrison is under a lot of pressure."
"As representatives for Satellite City No. 4, the Tan family naturally has to send aid and supplies to stabilize the situation. And according to my intel, our target will be leading the escort today."
Hearing this, the man in gray, ’Iron Arrow,’ thought for a moment before nodding.
"Alright."
’I can get my revenge, get paid, and rack up some Dark Web points. What’s not to like?’
After a patient wait,
Raccoon Cat, watching the streets from the rooftop, announced the activity.
"They’re here."
At the sound of his voice, ’Iron Arrow’ looked up from his seat in the cafe.
Gasps were heard from outside the cafe as a convoy emerged from the Jinggang Chamber of Commerce building and headed their way.
The comm channel went quiet for a moment.
Both of them were poised and ready to make their move.
...
"Advisor Tan."
"The Patrol Team just radioed in. The situation in the buffer zones is complicated, so they’re sending a unit to help us escort the supplies there."
A convoy of black vehicles carrying a large shipment of supplies drove out of the building.
Inside the van at the center of the convoy, the security supervisor sat in the passenger seat. Wearing an earpiece, he turned to the back seat to report, "The person meeting us is Leader Wang from the Fourth Patrol Group. He’s already bringing his men over and will rendezvous with us at the next intersection."
"Your thoughts...?"
"Supervisor Feng."
Tan Yue, sitting in the back seat, cut him off, his expression placid.
"You can make the call on trivial matters like this."
’He didn’t think anyone would dare attack a Jinggang Chamber of Commerce supply convoy within the Red Maple City Circle.’
’After all, they were only going to the buffer zone, not the wilderness.’
’As long as the Tan family was still standing, no one would dare to cross them.’
’The Dark Web assassins and Tan family enemies who had tried to kill him in the past had all learned that lesson in blood.’
"Yes."
Sensing his impatience, the security supervisor quickly agreed, taking on the responsibility and began assigning roles to the personnel over the convoy’s comms.
