Chapter 353 49: Various Undercurrents, the Blood-Poison Mist
He was also suffering from the debilitating aftereffects of his Frenzy State and the Thunder Extreme Secret Skill. Stabbing pains pricked at acupoints all over his body, and his limbs felt utterly drained of strength.
Li Gusha was truly a Martial Artist at the Peak of Limit-Breaking. His use of the Blood Evil Palm was masterful, and its insidious poison was exceptionally difficult to deal with.
'Aside from Titan's Power, I had to use nearly every trick up my sleeve to finally kill him.'
As for Ma Biao,
his muscle-enhancement superpower was a real handful, giving him incredible defense. Without Yao Jin's manganese steel longsword, it would've been much harder to kill him.
The same went for Ink Green Rattan's telekinetic attacks, not to mention Legos and the others.
Without a doubt, today's perilous ambush had taught him several valuable lessons.
'There are no weaklings among the Superpower Level.'
'Whether they're Martial Artists or those with superpowers, they didn't get this far by luck. It's all built on solid experience and strength.'
Lu Chao mentally filed this away, his thoughts then turning to a certain figure.
Although the man in the blue hoodie wore a mask that obscured his face,
he was absolutely certain it had to be Wu Yuntao.
Both the silver-blue Qi Flame, identical to Lei Wanjun's, and the Qi Flame blades, which resembled the dark pearl technique, were undeniable proof of his identity.
'He actually joined the Rebels.'
A flicker in his eyes, Lu Chao reached out and turned off the shower.
He wasn't actually surprised that Wu Yuntao had broken through to the Superpower Level, as the man had always been exceptionally talented.
But, the Rebels...
'I see.'
All his doubts dissipated. Lu Chao grabbed a towel and dried his hair.
No wonder Qiu Shan and his men had gotten their hands on those 'lost weapons' from Lianwei Heavy Industry. And no wonder Legos was rescued by other Superpower Levels when he was wanted by Ring City's Superpower Bureau.
It turned out Wu Yuntao had joined the Rebels back then, using Lin Hao as a scapegoat for stealing military-grade weapons from the very beginning.
An inexplicable chill rose in his heart.
Lu Chao changed into a clean, white martial arts uniform, left the shower room, and entered his bedroom.
He also thought about how the entire Thunder Extreme Martial Arts Hall had been wiped out. He'd later asked Master Luo if he knew anything about it, but got no answer.
Looking at it now...
'He really is ruthless.'
Both the orphanage and the Thunder Extreme Martial Arts Hall were just tools for him to use.
Lu Chao thought to himself, and it was a long time before he could compose himself.
Then, he walked over to the desk in the corner.
His gaze fell upon an object lying on the wooden desk.
It looked like a yellowed, ancient book, taken from Li Gusha, the man he had killed with his own hands.
The four large words *Blood Evil True Skill* entered his sight. As a traditional Martial Artist of the older generation, Li Gusha clearly preferred to preserve his martial arts techniques in physical, paper form.
He hadn't had time to examine it carefully before, but now he looked at it under the light of the room.
*Blood Evil True Skill: Refine the muscles, skin, and meridians with a hundred poisons, then draw upon a sliver of earthly malevolent qi to forge the Blood Evil Flame...*
He skimmed through it; this was the martial arts method Li Gusha had cultivated.
It contained not only the key principles for cultivating the Blood Evil Flame and its corresponding Fighting Skill, but also two complementary Martial Skills: the Blood Evil Palm and the Blood Python Skill.
The former required one to soak their palms in the venom of a hundred different poisons and Advanced Mutant Beasts, refining them day and night. Furthermore, its power had to be activated with Blood Evil power or the Blood Evil Flame.
As for the latter, it was something like a Beast Form Martial Skill. It required observing a Beast King known as a Blood Python Beast and imitating its movements to acquire similar power-generation techniques. One could even use their Qi Flame to mimic its spiritual essence, augmenting both destructive and defensive power.
'These Martial Skills are truly vicious.'
'But unfortunately, you need the Blood Evil Flame to execute them perfectly.'
Shaking his head, Lu Chao didn't care if a Martial Skill was sinister or vicious. As long as it could serve as a trump card to kill his enemies, it was good enough.
However, a Martial Artist could only choose one type of Qi Flame. He couldn't possibly abandon his Ten Thousand Spirits Martial Arts Skill to cultivate this Blood Evil True Skill instead.
He then went back to flipping through the book.
Gradually, Lu Chao's gaze sharpened. He had found something new.
*Blood Toxin Mist: A special poisonous medicinal mist.*
*Colorless and odorless. Can be hidden within a weapon and detonated with Qi Flame... Those poisoned will suffer a great loss in strength, and their meridians and internal organs will feel a corrosive pain.*
*Refining method: Take the venom of wolf spiders, poison pythons, and other similar types of Mutant Beasts, then mix with silver stone powder, thousand sand, and other materials... The higher the quality of the Mutant Beast venom, the stronger the mist's toxicity. If refined with Beast King Poison, even those at the Superpower Level will be poisoned and injured.*
After reading the description, Lu Chao's eyes flickered with an idea.
This poisonous potion was of a high grade. The better the materials, the stronger the poison. He could absolutely make it himself and keep it as another trump card.
In a situation like today's, a poison mist like this could have simultaneously weakened multiple Superpower Level opponents to a certain extent.
'Beast King Poison... now that won't be easy to find.'
'Li Gusha probably didn't have these key ingredients, and he didn't know how to make potions either. Otherwise, he would've been even more of a handful.'
After some thought, Lu Chao silently memorized the recipe for the Blood Toxin Mist. He decided he would ask the Hunter Guild to keep an eye out for any Beast King Level poisonous creatures.
He then continued to look through the book.
The *Blood Evil True Skill* also recorded two other complementary, high-level secret potion recipes.
The Crimson Poison Pill and the Blood Spring Potion.
The Life Energy enhancement from both secret potions was comparable to a Senior-Level Nutritional Potion, but taking them would subject the user to a degree of poison corrosion. It was essentially a case of fighting poison with poison to accelerate the cultivation progress of the Blood Evil True Skill.
He silently committed them to memory, feeling as if his horizons had been broadened. He had also gained new insights into potion crafting.
Finally, he silently finished reading the entire ancient martial arts tome.
...
"I can't believe the old devil is actually dead."
In an underground secret chamber, figures were seated or standing on either side of a long metal table.
A figure in a black robe stood in the corner, his voice as hoarse as scraping metal.
Following his gaze to the other side of the table, one could see where another person should have been. But now the spot was empty, save for a single metal stool.
"He was a useless piece of trash."
Legos's tone was cold as he snorted in displeasure.
His chest was caved in, marked by two conspicuous Fist Seals, a clear sign of a serious injury. He took a potion from a physician and injected it into his own forearm.
"He couldn't even take down a kid who broke through to the Superpower Level just two or three months ago. Instead, he got himself killed."
"Zhu Yue, look at the fine candidate you picked!"
He stared across the table and snapped, seeming to use the opportunity to vent his anger.
Zhu Yue, dressed in red leather, had a frosty expression, her complexion just as grim.
Looking closely, one could see her left arm hanging limply, as if injured. Behind her, two physicians in face masks were removing her jacket and administering an injection.
"My fault?"
She snorted coldly, glaring at Legos, her eyes also taking in Wu Yuntao, who was standing beside him in a blue hoodie.
"Five Superpower Levels!"
"You couldn't even finish the ambush right away and instead let the target escape! Legos, are you a complete idiot?"
she berated him, her breathing slightly ragged.
This operation had been planned for so long. The location and timing of the ambush were chosen after much consideration. They had even paid a price to get the warlords and the Tan family to agree to cooperate.
They had superior numbers and favorable terrain.
She herself had held off the support team with Black Owl, and had even been seriously injured in the process.
She just couldn't understand how they could have failed!
"Fuck, you think I wanted this to happen?!"
Legos's eyes blazed with anger. He pointed at the sunken Fist Seal on his chest, which had missed his heart by a mere inch. "That Wu Ge was way stronger than the intel suggested! The two of us couldn't break away from him."
"And those two, Ma Biao and his partner, were a couple of useless morons! They couldn't even handle one Yao Jin!"
The more he spoke, the angrier he got, until he was just spewing curses.
To the side, Wu Yuntao remained silent the entire time, his face an icy mask. He simply pressed his right hand against his left arm and, with a CLICK, popped his dislocated shoulder back into place.
A silver-blue electric light flickered in his eyes. He seemed to be replaying the ambush in his mind, trying to figure out exactly which part had gone wrong.
The atmosphere in the secret chamber turned cold and suffocating. The senior physicians responsible for treating their wounds subconsciously moved more gently, holding their breath.
Until finally.
VMMMM
The projection device at the end of the long metal table suddenly cast a blue light, forming a blue screen of light above the tabletop.
A silver metal wall appeared in the image, with a tall figure in a black trench coat and a mask standing in the center.
"Leader."
Their expressions changed instantly. Whether it was the cursing Legos or the scolding Zhu Yue, both immediately stopped arguing and composed their faces.
Even Black Owl, who had been cold and mocking the entire time, sat up straight in his black robes and looked at the screen with respect.
"Report,"
the tall man in the projection asked calmly.
But the chilling intent beneath the mask was deep and ruthless, settling into the hearts of everyone present.
"What. Exactly. Happened."
