Maybe I really am a Villian

Chapter 279: What if

Audrey continued, "That kid’s emotional state is too calm. His emotions never make him blind or cloud his judgment. He has almost complete control over his emotions, which is nearly impossible for most humans, even those who have lived for a very long time."

Audrey paused for a moment before continuing, her tone becoming more curious. "That kid seems more suited for learning mind-related spells instead of space magic. I am sure that if he had chosen that path, he would have become the first person in human history to reach Saint rank through mental abilities."

After listening to Audrey praise Asher nonstop, especially since she hardly ever praised anyone, Cassie couldn’t help but ask, her tone genuinely curious, "Is he really that good? Then why don’t you ask Edward to let him learn from you instead of continuing with space magic if he is that talented?"

Audrey sighed before saying, "You misunderstood something. He has a strong mind, but that doesn’t mean he is bad with the spatial element."

She paused briefly before continuing, "More importantly, that kid would never agree to learn from me."

Another sigh escaped Audrey’s mouth.

"And teaching him would be almost impossible. That kid never listens to anyone other than himself. I sometimes wonder just what kind of training Edward put him through to make him like this."

After hearing all this, Cassie became even more curious about Asher.

"He seems like an interesting person. So, what is he actually like?"

Audrey remained silent for a moment, thinking carefully. She tried to find a single word that could explain Asher’s personality, but quickly realized there wasn’t one.

"He is stupid, immature, childish, smart, mature, honest, a foodie, a gamer, and many more things that I don’t even have a word to explain."

Cassie remained silent for a moment after listening to this, as she couldn’t understand what Audrey meant by that strange combination of descriptions.

Then she suddenly laughed.

"Hah, he seems like an interesting child. Maybe he and Amelia can become good friends. Don’t you think, Audrey?"

Audrey didn’t reply for a moment. She seemed to consider the possibility before finally answering, her tone slightly amused.

"Maybe. Or maybe he will punch her in the face, and then she will hate him. No one knows. Only the future will tell."

"Huh...?" Cassie asked, her tone confused. "What do you mean by that?"

Audrey then replied, "It will be faster to just show you instead of telling you everything."

After saying that, Audrey used their mental connection to show Cassie the battles Asher had fought during the practical test.

One scene after another appeared within Cassie’s mind.

She watched Asher fight his opponents, saw how he moved, and witnessed how effortlessly he handled situations that should have been difficult for someone his age.

After watching all those scenes, Cassie remained silent for a moment, unable to believe what she had just seen.

What she couldn’t believe was not Asher’s behavior toward his opponents, but the strength he had displayed throughout the practical test.

’Just how?’

That was the only question running through her mind.

She couldn’t believe that everything she had witnessed was actually real. The level of strength he had displayed didn’t seem appropriate for someone his age.

She finally asked, her tone filled with disbelief, "Is he really that strong?"

"Yeah."

Cassie remained silent for another moment before asking, "Just what kind of training did Edward put him through to make him this strong? He was playing with his opponents like that."

"That didn’t even feel like a battle between Academy students. His movements were more like those of a veteran who had already experienced countless battles."

Audrey answered, "Yeah."

Her short response only made Cassie more certain that she wasn’t exaggerating anything.

Cassie remained silent for a moment before another thought suddenly crossed her mind.

"If our past selves from our Academy days went against him, who do you think would win?"

Audrey remained silent for a moment, seemingly considering the question carefully.

She didn’t immediately answer, as even she seemed unsure of how that battle would have unfolded.

Then she finally said, "I’m not sure. But one thing I am certain about is that Solarius would have his limbs cut off first, then probably you and me, and then Aurelius."

Cassie blinked after hearing that strangely specific answer.

"Yeah, you’re right. We would have already been on the ground. There is no doubt about that. His spatial abilities would have been too fast for us to react to."

Cassie spoke without hesitation. She was completely certain about the outcome.

The thought of facing Asher during their Academy days was enough for her to realize just how overwhelming the difference would have been.

Audrey continued, "Yeah. The only ones who could probably hold him off would have been his parents."

She paused for a moment before adding, "But if you ask me, Asher would still have a higher chance of winning, because that kid is probably still hiding his strength."

Audrey’s tone became more serious as she continued.

"He is far too secretive about his abilities. I have already seen enough to know that he doesn’t show everything he is capable of."

Cassie sighed. After remaining silent for a moment, she finally said, "So, I guess Humanity will have its fourth Saint-rank individual soon. This will really be different for everyone."

Audrey’s voice echoed inside Cassie’s mind.

"Yeah, if he survives long enough to reach that time, and if we survive long enough to see it."

Audrey paused for a moment before continuing, her tone becoming more confident.

"And for that, we have to make sure we win the upcoming battle. So, rest for now and stop overthinking about it. That is exactly what our enemy wants you to do in the first place."

She paused again, allowing Cassie some time to process her words before continuing.

"This two-month deadline isn’t just for him to get ready. It’s more like a way to play with your mental state and make you constantly worry about what is going to happen. They want you to spend these two months thinking about the worst possible outcome instead of preparing yourself properly."
