Chapter 162; Alina is pregnant
Lucian’s POV
"Alina, please open your eyes," I pleaded, pure panic laced in my tone. But she wasn’t opening them, and the sight of her limp body made my hands tremble in absolute terror.
"Someone get the doctor!" I heard Aiden’s voice bark over the chaos of the room.
"I am a doctor. Let’s take her to a quiet room immediately so I can examine her," a man said, rushing forward from the crowd.
Without waiting a second, I scooped Alina up in my arms and walked as fast as I could to a private room down the hall. I gently placed her on the bed.
"Please, everyone out," the doctor announced, preparing his medical kit.
"I am not leaving," I said, worry and possessiveness laced in my tone as I stood firmly by her side.
"You heard the man. Everyone out," Aiden said, annoyance dripping from his words as he stepped up to block me.
As much as I wanted to rip his throat out, I didn’t want to start a fight right next to my unconscious mate. I reluctantly walked out of the room, closing the door behind me, and waited right outside in the hallway.
Aiden walked out right after me. "You know this is all your fault, Lucian. You really can’t go a single day without harming someone, can you?" he sneered.
I turned to face him, my eyes narrowing. "I didn’t kill anyone. And you should know me by now—I don’t fucking deny anything I actually do. But if you are this bent on pinning this on me, it can only mean one thing. You set me up, didn’t you?" I said, intense annoyance laced in my tone. "I knew it was suspicious the moment Alina said you invited me. You did this entire thing just to humiliate me, didn’t you? But let me tell you one thing, Aiden: I only care about Alina. As long as she believes me, nothing else in this world fucking matters."
My words caused a dark, angry frown to twist his face.
"I will make sure you leave this city for good," Aiden threatened, leaning in. "Rogues will always be a threat to us, and I won’t let my people ever forget that. You have no place here. You can’t simply forget your past just because you fell in love. It doesn’t work that way, Lucian. You will have to pay for every single thing you’ve done."
"And who is going to make me pay? You?" I scoffed, a confident smirk playing on my lips. "Get over yourself, Aiden. There is absolutely nothing you or anyone else here will ever do to me. I will always be ten steps ahead of you, no matter what."
Before he could reply, the heavy bedroom door opened and the doctor finally walked out.
"How is my wife doing?" Aiden asked immediately.
My eyes widened in pure fury, my fists clenching so hard my knuckles cracked. "She isn’t your fucking wife, you madman," I spat, irritation vibrating in my voice.
"She is pregnant," the doctor announced, completely cutting off our bickering.
My eyes widened in absolute shock.
"And she has been under a lot of stress lately, which is exactly why she fainted," the doctor added. "She needs to take care of herself and drastically reduce her stress levels."
Alina is pregnant. A small, genuine smile slowly placed itself on my lips as the realization washed over me.
"You are mistaken. She isn’t pregnant... she can’t be pregnant," Aiden stuttered, his face turning pale as he shook his head in denial.
I turned to him.
"What do you mean she can’t be pregnant?" I sneered, turning to face him fully. "You heard what the doctor just said. She is pregnant, and you already know exactly who the father is. Me," I said, a smug, mocking smirk playing on my lips.
Aiden’s eyes burned with a venomous, roaring anger, his hands shaking at his sides.
Satisfied with his silent humiliation, I pushed past the doctor and shoved the bedroom door open. Alina was sitting up on the edge of the mattress, looking slightly tired but completely awake.
"Alina," I called out softly.
The moment she heard my voice, her face instantly lit up. She slid off the bed and stood up to meet me.
"Are you okay?" she asked, her voice laced with deep concern as she scanned me for any injuries from the chaos outside.
"I am more than okay. You have absolutely no idea how incredibly happy I am right now," I said, my voice thick with emotion. I stepped closer, wrapping my hands around her waist. "I am going to be a father."
A beautiful, soft smile broke across her face, and she gave a gentle nod.
"Yes, you are going to be a father," she whispered.
The words sent a thrill of pure ecstasy straight through my chest. I pulled her flush against me, hugging her tightly to my body. I buried my face in her hair, inhaling her sweet scent, thinking to myself that this had to be the absolute best fucking day of my life.
"You cannot give birth to that child."
Aiden’s harsh, cold voice shattered our moment, instantly draining the warmth from the room.
Annoyance flared hot in my chest as I slowly broke the hug, keeping one protective arm wrapped around Alina as I turned to glare at the doorway. Aiden was standing there, his face contorted in disgust.
"That child is a bastard child," Aiden spat, his eyes flicking between the two of us. "You two are not married, and this man is a fucking rogue. Alina, do you really want to ruin your entire life like this?"
My inner wolf bared its teeth, scratching at the surface, practically begging for blood. I glared at Aiden, my grip tightening on Alina’s waist.
I really, truly wouldn’t mind ending this man’s life today.
"This is my choice, Aiden, not yours!" Alina snapped, standing protectively. "I’m keeping this child."
Aiden’s face darkened as he stepped forward. "I won’t allow it. That child will be aborted."
Rage consumed me.
Before I could think, my claws shot out. I lunged at him and slashed across his chest.
Aiden staggered back, clutching the wound as blood soaked through his shirt. He glared at me with shock and fury.
"How dare you!" he roared.
