I Can Level Up Infinitely

Chapter 193 - 1st Phase

After staring into space for a while, Leon finally spoke. "Alright. I choose swordsmanship."

"And the technique?" the majestic voice asked.

"Sword Art Breathing," Leon replied.

"Very well. Then the trial shall begin. However, the technique you have chosen consists of ten different forms. Each form is a technique in its own right. Therefore, this trial will have ten phases, with each phase testing one form.

After completing a phase, you will be given only one day to rest before the next begins. Fail to pass even a single phase... and you will die on the spot.

Best of luck."

The voice faded away, leaving behind an unsettling silence. Leon’s morale was dampened by a great margin. "Only one day to rest?" If each phase tests one of the Sword Art Breathing forms, doesn’t that mean I have to learn all ten forms? But with just a single day between phases, how the hell am I supposed to master an entirely new form? I don’t even know most of the forms, let alone how to use them to clear the trial."

The more he thought about it, the more troubled he became. Unfortunately, the owner of the majestic voice had no intention of giving Leon any more time to stand there.

Just a few minutes later...

The trial began.

One after another, figures began emerging from the ground.

Some were monsters.

Some were humans.

Others were grotesque hybrids of both.

Leon quickly sensed their strength. Every one of them was at the first level of the Martial Master realm, two levels below his.

If he had to face only one opponent, defeating them would have been effortless. But there wasn’t just one. There were hundreds. And they were still emerging.

Leon’s brows furrowed. "Frost Monarch’s Blade," he whispered. The sword instantly appeared in his hand, its hilt settling firmly into his palm.

Just as he was about to charge...

"Not with that sword." The majestic voice echoed across the battlefield. "You may use any sword that possesses no boost or enhancement effects. This trial is meant to test your comprehension level, not the quality of your weapon." The voice fell silent once more.

Leon let out a helpless sigh. He returned the Frost Monarch’s Blade to the system storage before pulling out the pitch-black claymore instead. His fingers tightened around its hilt.

"Graaaahhh!"

Monstrous growls echoed from every direction.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Heavy footsteps shook the ground as the horde charged toward him all at once.

Leon lowered his stance slightly. "I don’t know about the other forms, but if this phase is just meant to test my First Form by throwing countless opponents at me, then I want to see just how difficult it really can be."

Crack!

The ground beneath his feet shattered as his figure blurred from its original position.

Whoooosh!

The first to enter Leon’s attack range was a human-monster hybrid. It swung the massive war hammer it was carrying.

Leon twisted his body in mid-motion, effortlessly dodging the heavy swing. At the same time, the pitch-black blade flashed through the air and cleanly severed the hybrid’s head in a single strike.

From the side, another human opponent hurled a halberd toward him.

But Leon had already vanished from that spot.

The black sword pierced straight through another monster’s chest.

As Leon weaved through the horde, the pitch-black blade danced across the battlefield, leaving streaks of energy in its wake.

One after another, his opponents fell.

Yet instead of becoming easier, the battle only grew more difficult with every passing moment.

Their numbers were increasing at an alarming rate. For every opponent that fell, ten more seemed to emerge. It didn’t take long before the ever-growing horde began overwhelming Leon.

But he didn’t stop.

Stopping meant only one thing.

Death.

Leon continued pushing his body to its absolute limit. The number of enemies kept increasing, but he moved even faster, his attacks growing more ferocious with every exchange. His breathing became ragged, and every muscle in his body screamed in protest.

Yet he refused to lose.

Without even realizing it, he was improving at an astonishing rate.

At first, dodging their attacks had been effortless. But as the horde grew denser, every movement became increasingly difficult.

Even so, his footwork became swifter. His reactions became sharper.

At first, cutting down his opponents had been easy. But as they flooded the battlefield in endless waves, keeping up with them became harder and harder.

Yet every swing of his sword carried greater precision and more power than the last.

The greater the pressure became, the more coordinated his attacks and evasive maneuvers grew.

He looked as though he were truly dancing across the battlefield, flowing naturally with the rhythm of combat.

His movements gradually became impossible for his opponents to predict.

Even so...

The number of monsters never decreased. Leon continued fighting. Continued struggling. And continued overcoming every obstacle thrown before him at the same time.

Hours passed. Yet there was still no end in sight.

Suddenly...

Boooom!

While Leon was dealing with a four-armed monster, a massive blow slammed into his back, sending him crashing across the ground.

But Leon sprang back to his feet almost instantly and resumed fighting without hesitation.

One day passed.

Then two.

"How long have I been fighting?" Leon cursed as he beheaded another human swordsman. "Is this ever going to end?"

The relentless battle continued for five straight days before more opponents finally stopped emerging.

Leon didn’t let his guard down. He continued fighting until the very last opponent collapsed to the ground, its head severed from its body.

Only then did Leon fall as well.

Thud!

"Huff...

Huff...

Cough! Cough!"

His breathing was completely ragged. Every muscle in his body felt unbearably heavy from sheer exhaustion.

As for his dantian... Not even a trace of Qi remained within it.

If even one more opponent had appeared — no matter how weak, it would have been enough to defeat him.

"The first phase has been cleared successfully. You now have one day to rest before the second phase." The majestic voice echoed across the silent battlefield.

"And here is a Top-Grade Spirit Stone. It should be enough to replenish the Qi in your dantian."

A palm-sized crystal flew toward Leon. He didn’t even have the strength to catch it. The stone bounced twice before coming to rest beside him.

The instant it landed, Leon sensed an astonishing surge of spiritual energy radiating from within it.
