Chapter 159: Action in the Royal Dormitory
Solomon brought his sword down and crashed violently through the clay roof of the royal dormitory. Splintered wood and shattered tiles rained down upon the polished floorboards of the inner chamber.
A dozen elite assassins holding curved sabers had just cornered the Third Princess of the Bririth Kingdom against the far wall.
Solomon landed squarely on his boots and quickly realized the stream chat had successfully delivered his warning just in time.
Elizabeth held a lethal, master-crafted steel sword in her hands. She relied entirely on her pristine fencing techniques, driving her blade through an assassin’s chest with flawless execution.
’Whoa there... someone in the chat told me she was actually a mage... but she can fight just fine.’
"You took your time getting here," Elizabeth said. She sidestepped a thrust and parried an incoming blade. "Thanks for the warning. Your viewers wouldn’t stop spamming with the direct echo.
"I had to clear some trash out of the courtyard first." Solomon swung his greatsword in a horizontal arc to bisect two approaching cultists.
The rescue operation instantly transitioned into a high-speed competition across the ruined dormitory.
Elizabeth darted through the enemy ranks, utilizing her royal fencing skills to dismantle the attackers while actively tracking Solomon’s body count.
Solomon anchored his boots and unleashed a flurry of diagonal slashes, stepping into her path to steal her targets before she could land a fatal blow.
He anchored his boots against the splintered floorboards and swung Eden’s Penance. He stepped into the path of an advancing cultist, intending to bisect the man.
However, the assassin completely ignored his attack and dove underneath the sword, bypassing Solomon entirely to launch a barrage of throwing knives directly at Elizabeth.
Solomon spun around and tracked the shifting enemy formation. The entire strike force had completely abandoned their defensive postures against him. They focused their lethal intent solely on the Third Princess.
Elizabeth wore a simple white silk nightdress, completely lacking the reinforced chainmail and plate armor required to survive a coordinated assassination attempt.
He abandoned his offensive push and sprinted across the ruined dormitory.
Solomon planted himself directly in front her. He swung the flat of his greatsword in a wide arc, swatting the incoming projectiles out of the air. The metal knives sparked against the divine relic and scattered across the wooden planks.
"Stay right behind me," Solomon instructed, keeping his eyes locked on the remaining assassins.
Elizabeth tightened her grip on her steel sword. She parried a sudden thrust from a flanking cultist and drove her blade through his chest. "I do not need you to shield me. I can handle myself. Don’t get hurt to protect me."
A cultist leaped from the shattered wardrobe, hurling a concealed poisoned dart toward her unprotected neck.
Solomon raised his free hand and snatched the projectile mid-flight. He immediately snapped his wrist forward, throwing the dart back into the attacker’s throat. The man collapsed instantly onto the ruined floor.
Solomon anchored his stance and executed the third form of the Eden Imperial Sword Arts.
A flurry of diagonal slashes carved an impenetrable web of kinetic energy around their position.
He deflected every single blade and hidden weapon aimed at her silk dress, methodically dismantling the strike force until the final assassin fell lifelessly onto the floorboards.
The dormitory fell quiet. Elizabeth lowered her steel sword and leaned against a shattered wooden pillar.
She panted, her chest rising and falling as she pulled air into her burning lungs. She wiped a bead of sweat from her forehead and looked over at Solomon as he stood perfectly still, his breathing completely normal.
"Are you seriously not tired at all?" Elizabeth asked between gasps. She inspected his relaxed posture. "Is that endless stamina a hidden part of your Convergence talent?"
Solomon hoisted Eden’s Penance onto his shoulder and offered a bright grin. "I just do a lot of cardio. A proper morning jog works wonders for your endurance."
[GoonLord: LMAO HE SAID CARDIO!]
[LazyCat: bro fights assassins and calls it a morning jog.]
[User12: the sarcasm is absolutely lethal.]
[1Fizzy: bro is being sarcastic even in this circumstances.]
He turned his attention toward the gaping hole in the dormitory roof. "We need to check on Arthur and the others immediately. The cultists orchestrated multiple strikes across the pavilion. You have to come with me."
Elizabeth pushed off the wooden pillar and shook her head. "Give me a minute. My legs are completely drained. I just need to sit down and rest for a second."
"We have absolutely zero time for a break," Solomon stated.
He secured the thick leather strap of Eden’s Penance across his back, and closed the distance between them in two long strides.
Slipping one arm under her knees and wrapping the other firmly around her waist, he hoisted her entirely off the ground in a smooth princess carry.
Elizabeth gasped and grabbed his shoulders for support. A brilliant crimson flush instantly painted her cheeks and spread all the way to the tips of her ears. She stared up at his face with wide eyes.
"Put me down right now!" Elizabeth demanded, squirming against his hold.
Solomon ignored her protests completely. He raised his boot and kicked the shattered dormitory door completely off its hinges. He marched directly into the darkened hallway.
[GoonLord: HE IS CARRYING HER!]
[Fatal_Beauty: THE PRINCESS CARRY!]
[James_hayes: princess carrying the princess lmao.]
[Mezz_3863: she is blushing so hard right now.]
[LazyCat: zero hesitation. purely tactical transport.]
Solomon navigated the corridor while keeping his eyes scanning the shadows. He completely tuned out the scrolling text on his blue interface and focused entirely on reaching the next courtyard.
More masked assassins poured out from the adjacent corridors, blocking the exit paths. They raised their curved sabers and pointed their weapons directly at the duo.
Solomon gritted his teeth. He could not safely swing his greatsword or utilize his martial arts while carrying Elizabeth in his arms.
Elizabeth clutched his clothes. Her muscles remained too exhausted from the previous battle to engage the new threat.
Suddenly, a dark silhouette erupted from the shadows pooling beneath the assassins’ boots. A silver dagger flashed in the dim light, slitting a cultist’s throat. The figure instantly dissolved back into the darkness, completely vanishing before the other attackers could strike.
The shadow reappeared behind another assassin, driving a blade through his spine before sinking back into the floorboards.
The remaining cultists panicked, swinging their weapons wildly at the empty air as the lethal game of hide-and-seek dismantled their ranks.
Solomon watched Corvus methodically clear the hallway from the darkness. He offered a casual grin and looked down at the blushing girl in his arms.
"It seems your personal bodyguard finally returned from his break," Solomon remarked.
He tightened his grip around her waist and carried her through the cleared corridor.
They navigated the winding stone paths and made their way straight toward the boys’ dormitory.
