The prenatal formulas Lin Yue had prescribed since TC1853.07 had done exactly what they were designed to do: support fetal development, strengthen forming meridians, give the child the best possible foundation for a life in the new world.

Mira led the delivery. Three assistants. "These readings can’t be right," she said.
They were right.

The monitoring arrays registered a coherent energy circulation pattern in a child that hadn’t drawn its first breath.
Clara screamed. Garrett held her hand and whispered things that didn’t need to be coherent to be helpful. And at six minutes past dawn, their daughter entered the world with a cry that made the formation crystals in the monitoring equipment pulse in sympathetic resonance.
