Chapter 136: Shady Cleaning Crew
In the Astaford mansion, in the duchess’s master bedroom...
"Angh! No, not yet..."
"Yes! Right there, ah!"
Selyne Astaford, her face flushed, was moving an object to give herself pleasure.
She pushed inward and let out excited moans.
She stayed like that for a while, but, as if something were bothering her, she suddenly stopped.
"It’s not enough..." She looked at the object in her hand, covered in her juices, and inserted it back inside. She turned over on the bed, getting on all fours to try and see if changing her posture would help. But it was at that exact moment that a sound was heard.
Bam!
The door slammed against the wall, leaving her exposed to the person who had just walked in.
"Mom!" The voice stopped, her face flushed, and she screamed again, this time with a noticeable shift in tone, "MOM?!"
Selyne did not lose her composure; she maintained her calm. She calmly removed the object from her vagina and, with a feigned composure, sat up on the bed and began putting on a nightgown while looking at her daughter.
"What is the matter, that you cannot even remember your manners?"
Valeria looked at her with guilt; she knew it was her fault for entering without knocking, but seeing her mother like that...
She shook her head and remembered what mattered. Something had happened in the capital, it was important!
Seeing the serious look on her daughter’s face, the duchess’s expression turned grave. She stood up, looked for comfortable clothes to respond to something "important," and walked smoothly toward the bathroom to change.
Valeria watched her mother’s steps with insecurity, as if she didn’t know whether she could still trust her.
...
Meanwhile...
Cassandra was having a difficult time resisting Zarian, who didn’t seem happy with the outcome either; he was supposed to be stronger than her, yet he couldn’t defeat her easily.
Black whips of mana headed toward him.
Zarian dodged them with ease and conjured a counterattack, his eyes serious as he attempted to end everything right then and there.
Belthor did not intervene; it seemed he was enjoying himself and that whether Elara died or not didn’t really matter to him.
He directed his gaze toward another wing of the palace where the throne was located, and then looked toward Lucius Demor, who was watching everything with enthusiasm.
Belthor’s eyes dimmed with contempt upon seeing him.
Zas! Boom!
A flash of light ended in a detonation and the destruction of a place in the distance.
Cassandra looked at the result with sweat on her forehead; her exhausted gasps could be heard and her hair was a mess.
Her mana was depleting rapidly, and though she had the upper hand because Zarian hadn’t developed a law as such, she herself didn’t know she had touched upon one when she broke her limit years ago.
The woman analyzed the situation: Elara hadn’t been able to go very far, and the person in the sky was still watching everything as if it were an interesting show.
A decision began to grow inside her; she couldn’t keep going like this, and there was no point in dying over this.
She looked toward Belthor and raised her arms.
"I surrender," she said in a flat voice. "There is no point in us fighting to the death. I will leave Demor with Elara."
The two men looked at each other, one as if seeking the other’s approval, but Belthor shook his head.
In that instant, Cassandra unleashed the mana infused with her forbidden arts toward both of them; it was everything she had left in this final attack, leaving just enough to turn around, reach where Elara was, grab her quickly, and begin to flee from there.
"Ah!" A groan escaped Elara due to the sudden situation.
She looked up and saw her master’s face of urgency; she bit her lip, not wanting to say anything, and now looked back, but she could no longer see the two figures.
She wanted to warn her master, but looking ahead she realized it was already too late: the two men were watching them as if this were the end.
Cassandra’s heavy, disappointed breathing was the only thing that could be heard.
She left Elara by her side and stood straight in front of her in a final stand.
But at that moment, bringing relief to the woman who could take no more, multiple figures stood in front of her.
Their faces could not be seen, and there were so many of them that they formed a sort of circle around the two "semigods"—or rather, one semigod and one god.
However, that wasn’t what changed the atmosphere, but the level of mana that each of these figures emitted.
Transcendent.
Transcendent.
Another transcendent. Everyone was.
Zarian and Belthor stepped back, unsure.
Although they were much more accustomed to transcendents than what was usual in the nearby empires, this was already far too exaggerated.
And in the streets of the capital, the people running to save themselves approached the guards seeking help; but while the guards tried to resist, the other half—those belonging to the church, the inquisitors—just watched without intervening.
The situation was worsening by the minute, until something similar to what happened with Cassandra and Elara occurred here.
Innumerable figures of different power levels, though transcendents were the majority, began to kill everyone who had fallen victim to the corruption.
"It already started," Elizabeth was heard saying to Adela, who stood up excitedly and came over to look.
She looked proudly as her shadows began to clean up the matter.
And unable to contain herself, she left Elizabeth behind with only these words: "I’m going to clean up some trash~, I’ll be right back!"
Elizabeth shook her head as she watched her leave and turned her gaze to keep observing the situation. This had gone too far, and the matter of the crown prince still remained to be resolved...
And in a room of the nearby church, Lisbeth Vitalis found herself hiding under the sheets.
"It’s not my fault, it’s not my fault," she repeated, holding her legs and trying to comfort herself.
