Chapter 408 - 257: Vacation’s Over, Return
Sitting at her desk, she felt like she couldn’t hold her head up anymore, so she flopped onto her bed.
’Just ten seconds,’ she thought. ’Then I’ll get up and put on my makeup.’
But less than ten seconds later, Jin Heon was out cold on the large bed. She hadn’t even taken off her overcoat, and with a full face of makeup still on, she plunged directly into a deep, dreamless sleep.
....
The next day, the piercing winter sun shone on Jin Heon’s face through a gap in the curtains.
She snapped her eyes open and looked around the still-empty dorm room in a daze, feeling as if she had blacked out from drinking.
"What time is it... Shit!" She grabbed her phone, and her brain immediately froze when she saw the screen. "It’s 10:15! I’m going to be late!" ’I actually slept for 12 hours?!’
"I’m screwed! My morning class today!" ’Jin Heon, you’re such a pig. How could you sleep for so long!’
She tumbled out of bed and scrambled to grab her bookbag, but as her bare feet hit the floor and she took in the empty dorm room, she suddenly froze.
’Oh, right. It’s Christmas break, and my boss... didn’t give me any work yesterday, did he?’
Jin Heon let out a long sigh of relief and flopped back onto the bed.
But the very next second, she noticed how tight her face felt.
"Oh my god!" She touched her face and wailed, "Did I go to sleep yesterday without taking off my makeup?"
’Sleeping all night with a full face of makeup is worse than going bankrupt for a day. Foundation, setting powder, primer... All those chemicals clogging my pores for more than ten hours. My face must be covered in closed comedones or even breaking out by now!’
She practically scrambled into the bathroom and, with a CLICK, switched on the makeup light above the mirror.
"Huh?"
The girl in the mirror still had makeup on one half of her face; the other half had rubbed off on the pillow.
After frantically grabbing some cleansing oil, removing her makeup, and rinsing her face with water, Jin Heon was utterly stunned.
There were no closed comedones, no breakouts. Even the dullness and roughness that usually came with a lack of sleep were gone.
On top of that, she had slept better than she ever had before. It was the deepest, most restful sleep she’d had in years.
In disbelief, Jin Heon pinched her own collagen-filled cheeks. They felt soft and supple.
She recalled sitting next to Li Wei last night and the wonderful feeling it gave her, like being next to a warm fireplace, making even her breathing feel smoother. Now, looking at her radiant appearance, ravenous appetite, and vigorous health...
"This is insane..." she murmured to herself with a strange expression. "Am I some kind of spider demon from the Celestial Dynasty’s *Journey to the West*? Is my boss the Tang Monk? Was I absorbing his vital essence just by sitting next to him?"
If Jin Heon and Anya had been closer, she would have discovered that she wasn’t the only one. In fact, Anya was one of the greatest beneficiaries of being around Li Wei. Ever since they got together, Anya had never had any issues with sleep, her skin, or even her diet.
People of Slavic descent are often prone to gaining weight and developing larger pores, but for Anya, it was as if those rules no longer applied.
Although Anya didn’t know why, either, she attributed it to her and Li Wei’s daily "adult activities."
Even Li Wei himself didn’t know that his passively activated [Knight’s Aura - First Sequence (Silver)] also had beautifying, metabolism-boosting, and figure-maintaining effects.
Two more days passed, and Anya returned from her ski trip in France. With her came a massive pile of all sorts of clothes she had bought for Li Wei.
"Darling, I’m back. Come meet me in Riverdale," Anya said, stretching languidly. "Don’t bring the sports car or the Cullinan. Come in your Cadillac Escalade."
The moment he pulled up to Anya’s apartment building and opened the car door, he understood why.
On the steps at the lobby entrance, several doormen stood guard over a small mountain, ready for action.
A "small mountain" built from orange Hermes boxes, black-and-white Chanel paper bags, Loro Piana packaging, and various dust bags from brands that, while logo-less, were clearly very expensive.
Anya, wearing sunglasses and wrapped in an off-white haute couture cashmere coat, stood beside the mountain and waved at him like a queen who had just finished inspecting her domain.
"I thought you went to France to pull a heist." He walked over, kissed Anya, and then glanced at all the boxes. "Did you buy out the entire Champs-Élysées?"
"Half of it, maybe," Anya said, lifting her chin smugly at Li Wei. "Don’t just stand there. Come help load the car. It’s all for you."
"For me?" Li Wei asked, taking a bag from a doorman and stuffing it into the spacious trunk of the Cadillac Escalade.
A complex feeling washed over him. ’It feels pretty great being a kept man.’
"Of course," Anya said, leaning against the car door. "To get those two Hermes Birkin bags, I basically had to buy out their entire early spring menswear collection."
"But a few of the pieces felt a bit too old-fashioned..." She started to rummage through one of the bags but quickly lost interest and just shoved it into Li Wei’s hands. "You can give these to your uncle. That style doesn’t suit you."
Besides suits and dress shirts, there was also a wide variety of T-shirts, cardigans, casual pants, and trousers.
Li Wei even saw that Anya had bought him dozens of pairs of underwear alone.
Watching Li Wei load up the car, Anya felt deeply satisfied.
Part of loving someone is wanting to spend money on them, a rule that applies to everyone, and Anya definitely loved Li Wei to her very core.
Every time she went shopping in France, the moment she stepped into a menswear store, she would find herself instinctively picking out clothes for Li Wei.
’Li Wei would look so gentle in this.’
’This would really accentuate his broad shoulders.’
’These pants would really show off his long legs.’
Once these thoughts started, Anya couldn’t control her urge to shop. Anything she saw that she thought would look good on Li Wei, she immediately bought in his size.
’Shopping feels amazing.’
It was a pity that Miss Anya had to take a nap to fight off her jet lag, and then she had to wait at home for the early spring collection launch. Otherwise, she absolutely would have dragged Li Wei upstairs to ride him hard for a few rounds.
She had just exchanged a new round of tips and tricks with her girlfriends and sisters, and she was confident she could make Li Wei surrender unconditionally.
’I’ll let him off the hook this time,’ Anya thought to herself.
「The Christmas holiday was gradually coming to an end, and everyone who had traveled was starting to return.」
Lily and Don Quixote came back from Disney, bringing Li Wei a few classic character plushies.
Chen Haisheng was back, too. Judging by his expression, it seemed good news was on the horizon for him.
Mark’s wife had given birth over the holiday; mother and son were both doing well. He was secretly asking Li Wei if Don Quixote would be willing to be his child’s godfather.
As for Arthur, he had diligently fulfilled his duties, successfully transferring the first down payment of 14 million USD for the Long Island estate. He got it done before December 31st, saving Li Wei 7 million USD in taxes.
Since the full price of the estate would be paid in installments and the legal transfer of title would take several months, Li Wei was not yet the full owner. However, as the prospective owner who had already paid 50% down, he decided to visit the 28-million-USD, top-tier mansion in person on the last day of the holiday.
This Long Island estate was about a 30-kilometer drive from the Mellon Family’s main residence. While there was still a fundamental difference between it and the super-mansions worth hundreds of millions of USD, by modern standards, it was still a behemoth.
Behind two tall, ornate, black wrought-iron gates lay a long driveway, meticulously cleared of snow and paved with dark gray gravel, that wound its way through a serene, private fir forest.
At the end of the driveway stood a massive architectural complex, a fusion of minimalist and neoclassical styles.
"It’s on 12 acres of land, which is about 48,000 square meters," Arthur explained as he drove. "The main building has an interior living space of about 20,000 square feet, or 1,850 square meters."
The main building was a three-story, off-white structure containing a master suite and over a dozen guest rooms, each equipped with its own walk-in closet and panoramic balcony.
The garage and gym issues, which had been a headache for Li Wei, were also resolved.
A separate building of nearly 800 square meters (about 8,600 square feet) was large enough for dozens of cars and all his equipment.
