From the Metropolis to the Strongest in the Cosmos

Chapter 422: A Frustrated Luoyu

As they looked at the three Inheritance Crystals, a look of longing even appeared in the eyes of some Deities.

Every Deity comprehends different laws. Some of them might currently be trying to comprehend the Thunder Law, the Time Law, or the Fire Element Law without having mastered them yet.

At a time like this, Inheritance Crystals for the Thunder Law, Time Law, and Fire Element Law would naturally hold a tremendous appeal for them.

If they could master one more law with the help of these Inheritance Crystals, their strength would become even greater.

"Inheritance Crystals?"

Li Yang was also watching, and his heart stirred.

Lands of Inheritance could, in fact, be created, but doing so required an incredibly long time.

Therefore, although there were many powerful experts in the Cosmos, Lands of Inheritance were few and far between. They simply required far too much time and effort to create.

Possessing an Inheritance Crystal was the key to entering these Lands of Inheritance.

Li Yang had been to the Star Moon Race's Land of Inheritance before, so of course he knew the benefits it offered.

If he could stay inside a Land of Inheritance indefinitely, he could become a Deity at least three times faster.

'Will Li Yang agree?'

Everyone watched. For someone like Li Yang, who was only at the Star Lord Realm, these Inheritance Crystals had to be what he desired most.

In truth, for any of them, becoming a powerful expert more quickly was the most important thing.

Under everyone's gaze, Li Yang pondered for a moment before shaking his head. "My apologies, Lord Deity."

'Li Yang refused?'

'Three Lands of Inheritance aren't enough to move him?'

Seeing Li Yang shake his head, some of the Deities were rather surprised.

In terms of value, the Inheritance Crystals might not compare to the Gold-devouring Insect. However, for Li Yang, who was at the Star Lord Realm, he should have been far more desperate for the Inheritance Crystals.

Having Talent is one thing, but actually growing into that power is incredibly difficult.

Take the two previous assassination attempts by the Alien Race, for example. The slightest misstep, and Li Yang could have perished.

Therefore, for a genius like Li Yang, nothing was more important than rapidly increasing his strength. Once he had power, he could obtain more treasures in the future. Without it, he would remain in constant danger.

Faced with everyone's surprise, Li Yang remained perfectly calm.

'It's true that I'm eager to get my hands on the Inheritance Crystals, but I don't absolutely need them. Even without them, I can still break through quickly. I can even rapidly become a Deity!' Li Yang thought to himself.

After emerging from the Star Moon Race's Land of Inheritance, one of the four great profundities of his Fire Element Law had already reached its final stage. If he wanted to, he could break through to the World Realm at any moment.

By now, the same was true for his Space Law and Thunder Law; he had comprehended one profundity of each to its final stage.

In other words, if he chose to, he could break through to the World Realm using his Fire Element Law, Space Law, or Thunder Law right now.

And how long had that taken? A mere few decades.

He possessed two great Deity avatars. To fully master the Fire Element Law and Time Law and become a Deity would take him two hundred years at most.

And with his World Tree avatar, he had no fear of death.

So, in a few hundred years at most, Li Yang could become a Dual Pantheon Deity at a minimum—perhaps even a triple or quadruple pantheon one. At that point, the Gold-devouring Insect's usefulness would be immense.

Although the Inheritance Crystals were precious, they would only save him a century or so of cultivation time.

A mere century was practically nothing to him.

For any powerful expert, a hundred years was an incredibly short time, passing in the blink of an eye.

He was, of course, unwilling to trade a Gold-devouring Insect—a creature with power invincible in the Divine Realm—just to save that small amount of time.

"Unwilling?" Hearing Li Yang's reply, the Deity Yuan Lie frowned slightly.

However, he didn't press the matter. If Li Yang wouldn't even accept the Inheritance Crystals, then he surely wouldn't accept any other treasures Yuan Lie might offer.

After Yuan Lie spoke, nearly all the other Deities remained silent for several seconds.

Even Inheritance Crystals couldn't sway Li Yang. If they offered something of lesser value, they would only make a fool of themselves.

While the others were silent, Luoyu suddenly took a step forward and looked at Li Yang.

"Li Yang," Luoyu said.

"Hm?"

Looking at Luoyu, Li Yang's expression was calm. "Is there something you need, Lord Deity?"

Looking at the young man before him, Luoyu was filled with an indescribable feeling.

Not long ago, he'd been so displeased with Li Yang that he'd had him imprisoned. Yet in the blink of an eye, that same person had obtained something Luoyu himself coveted beyond measure. Now, he was the one who had to approach Li Yang to seek a trade. To be honest, he hated this feeling.

And yet, he had no choice but to come and entreat him.

'The Gold-devouring Insect... Once word of such a treasure gets out, who knows how many people will be tempted.'

'If I don't make a trade now, Li Yang might just trade with someone else later. By then, it will be too late for regrets.'

Though internally frustrated, Luoyu forced it down. He looked at Li Yang with a small smile. "Li Yang, I'd like to trade for the Gold-devouring Insect you have."

Hearing this, Li Yang stated bluntly, "My apologies, Lord Deity, but I have no intention of making a trade."

He felt a deep sense of disgust for Luoyu, so his rejection was curt and direct.

"Heh, Li Yang, no need to be hasty. Hear my offer first," Luoyu said with a small smile.

"I believe any treasure can be traded. It's merely a matter of offering the right price."

He clenched his right fist, and a square, black Token appeared in his hand.

The Token was covered in strange patterns, and its overall design resembled a series of small mountains.

'This is…' Seeing the Token, Li Yang's heart skipped a beat.

A sliver of his consciousness entered his Spatial Ring. There, in a corner, lay another Token. It too was covered in strange patterns and resembled a series of small mountains. The only difference was that this Token was red.

Previously, the mysterious small sword had sensed a black bead among the Star Moon Race. Inside were the corpses of several Emperor Level experts, and among their belongings was a Token that served as the key to the Thunder Spirit Race's Spirit Pool.

Li Yang had traveled to the Thunder Spirit Race and, thanks to that Spirit Pool key, traded for a large number of their Evil Qi Crystal Stones.

Because of that experience, Li Yang was naturally very curious about the other items from the black bead. Anything from there could be a treasure.

It made sense when he thought about it. When those Emperors had fallen, even their armor and weapons had shattered. Any item that survived intact had to be extraordinary.

So, Li Yang had later carefully sorted through the contents of the black bead's internal space, finding a few miscellaneous items. He had searched for them in the Virtual World but found no information.

However, Li Yang didn't believe the items were useless, so he had kept them stored away in a corner of his Spatial Ring ever since.

One of those items was a Token.

And that Token was identical to the one in Luoyu's hand, except for its color.

The one in Luoyu's hand was black, while his was red.
