Chapter 1660 - 1658: Assigning Tasks

Everyone sat down after shaking hands.

Henry Carter looked around at everyone seated, then said, "The main content of today’s meeting is about competing for projects. As we all know, although we are responsible for the current project, it is obviously nearing its end. If we cannot secure new projects, we’ll have nothing to do."

No one spoke. The new team needed to mesh, and without a clear understanding of the situation, everyone adopted the approach of listening more and speaking less.

Henry Carter looked at everyone again and continued, "Our project covers several surrounding counties, and we have been tracking several major projects, including two real estate projects, which is our forte. There are also several road construction or dam projects, which we are also capable of doing but are not our strength."

Matthew Clarkson spoke up, "Indeed, the current situation is serious for us. A key aspect of the headquarters’ assessment of us is the addition of new projects. Previously, projects were continuously tracked, but now with personnel transferred or retired, almost all tracking has come to a standstill. Several projects are coming up for tender soon. We need to get moving."

Henry Carter saw Matthew Clarkson interject, a hint of displeasure crossed his face, but he quickly concealed his dissatisfaction and said, "Two of the real estate projects are in two different counties. I’ve discussed with Addison; we each will take responsibility for one of the projects, hoping to achieve some results. Additionally, there is a project in our county, which Hadley used to track. We can say we have completely lost contact with it now. It’s a reservoir construction in the county, also involving tens of millions in investment, which is equally important to us. Our opinion is that Peter Brown should take over this project as well."

With that, he turned to Peter Brown and said, "Peter, you have a good relationship with Hadley. You might consult him to see if we can reconnect. If this project is successful, we will also be able to expand our presence in the county."

Peter Brown, who was not ignorant of the situation, and had some understanding of many matters as a former deputy office director, knew that the reservoir project had very little hope; it was highly sought after, and assigning the project to him was Henry Carter and others wanting to see him squirm.

Yet, he could not refuse the assignment, especially since the two of them had each actively taken on tracking a project.
