Chapter 593 - 578: Re-entering Holy Beast Mountain

"Oh, right, Aoqing, Jun Wu, I won’t be heading back to the Eternal Holy Domain for now. There’s something I need to do," Mu Chen said to the two of them after taking a deep breath of the fresh air of the Outer Realm.

Chu Aoqing thought for a moment, then said, "Is it about Elder Feng?"

Mu Chen nodded.

"Alright then. I’ll stay at the dorm tonight and we can go back to the Eternal Holy Domain after you’ve handled your business."

Although Mu Junwu didn’t know what Chu Aoqing and Mu Chen were talking about regarding Elder Feng, she figured it would be boring to return to the Eternal Holy Domain by herself. Since she had a rare chance to leave the Eternal Holy Domain, she might as well experience more of life in the Inner Mountain.

"In that case, I won’t go back either."

"You’re not going back either?" Mu Chen asked, astonished.

"What? Am I not welcome?" Mu Junwu said with a smile playing on her lips.

The three of them had already changed back into their regular clothes upon leaving. Mu Chen’s lips twitched. "Of course you’re welcome. It’s just... you might have to rough it a bit. The dorm isn’t exactly in the best condition."

Chu Aoqing didn’t say anything this time. Mu Chen’s dorm really was in bad shape. Other than the bathroom and two bedrooms, the rest of the place was like a ruin—empty and completely undecorated.

"As long as I’m welcome, that’s all that matters. If Sister Aoqing can stay here, then it’s certainly no problem for me," Mu Junwu said with utmost nonchalance, pursing her lips.

Since she had put it that way, Mu Chen had no reason to refuse. With a Spatial Transmission from Chu Aoqing, the three of them vanished from the front of the arena gate in the blink of an eye.

...

"This is your dorm?" Walking inside, Mu Junwu took a light sniff of the indoor air. There was no strange smell; instead, there was a faint, pleasant scent. Of course, it wasn’t the delicate fragrance of a woman, but the fresh aroma of flowers and plants.

As she spoke, Mu Junwu had already walked past Mu Chen and Chu Aoqing, entering the main hall from the entryway. The first things that caught her eye were spotless walls and decorative murals. The Crystal Stone lamps were also completely free of dust. There was even a full range of dormitory furniture.

Walking to the bay window in the main hall, Mu Junwu reached out and pulled back the curtains. Specks of starlight shone through, landing on the flowerpots by the window and reflecting off the crystalline dewdrops. She took a gentle breath of the faint floral scent, then turned her head and smiled slightly. "It’s not nearly as bad as you two made it out to be. It’s not even the slightest bit worse than my place."

"..."

Mu Chen stared in amazement at the room’s interior. In disbelief, he backed out to check the room number on the door again. Only after confirming that this was indeed his dorm did he speak with a strange expression, "Aoqing, you didn’t accidentally teleport us to the wrong floor, did you?"

Chu Aoqing frowned. "How could that be? This is definitely the first floor."

"Then how did this happen?"

"I don’t know either."

Seeing the bewildered looks on Chu Aoqing and Mu Chen’s faces, Mu Junwu finally understood. The room hadn’t originally looked like this; it had undergone a drastic change during the two months Mu Chen was away.

"Are you the only one with a key to this room?" Mu Junwu suddenly asked.

Mu Chen froze, then it dawned on him. He wasn’t the only one with a key. Chu Aoqing had one, but this clearly wasn’t her doing. The other key... "Mo Qing?"

"It must be the woman you mentioned." Mu Junwu had, at some point, walked over to the table in the main hall. She picked up a piece of paper that was weighted down on the table and handed it to Mu Chen without looking at it.

He took the paper, and his eyes fell upon the elegant handwriting: ’Chen’Er, it’s been a month since I last saw you. Qing’Er misses you so, so much. But Qing’Er knows you must be pushing yourself to your limits again, constantly trying to improve. So, Qing’Er will bury this longing deep in her heart... Hmm, Master rarely agrees to let me come back, but he did today, so I wanted to see if Chen’Er was here. And the result... as expected, you weren’t.’

’But Chen’Er’s dorm was so messy, not like a home at all. Even though I only had a day, Qing’Er still did some simple cleaning and decorating for you. When you get back, you’ll be so surprised, won’t you? You’ll definitely think you’ve walked into the wrong room, hehe. I really want to see the surprised look on Chen’Er’s face in person, but I have to go back to Master now. I don’t know when I’ll be able to return again...’

Reading the words in the letter, Mu Chen could picture Mo Qing bustling about. In his eyes, this was the gentle and virtuous partner who always stood quietly behind him, supporting him without reservation. Though her personality was not complex, though her strength was not of a high realm, though she... was not a woman of many words, she always treated everything about him as incredibly important. Her thoughtfulness was so delicate it made Mu Chen feel a sense of guilt. ’That person is like the rain, nurturing things silently.’ She was just like that, silently staying by his side, being his complement, his harbor, without a single complaint or grievance. She could feel happy just by looking at him. This was Mo Qing...

Below that, there were no more words, only an elegant and gentle sign-off: ’Your loving Qing’Er.’ It was strange, but the final handwriting wasn’t rushed; on the contrary, it was written with even more care than the text before it. He could imagine that Mo Qing hadn’t stopped there because she was in a hurry.

’Silence can say more than words, huh?’ A faint smile appeared on his face, his eyes filled with tenderness and happiness. Mu Chen carefully folded the paper and placed it in the deepest corner of his Storage Ring. This was his greatest reward from this trip back.

Mu Junwu and Chu Aoqing observed every change in Mu Chen’s expression. Although they felt a pang of jealousy and discomfort in their hearts, it was outweighed by a sense of relief—relief that the man they admired, while having affections for more than one, was also deeply devoted.

"Anyway, I’m going to bed. I’m exhausted." With that, Chu Aoqing headed straight upstairs.

Mu Junwu glanced at Mu Chen and pointed toward the stairs. "Is there a room on the second floor? If not, I suppose I can make do with this sofa."

As she spoke, Mu Junwu actually smoothed down her skirt and sat right down on the sofa.

Mu Chen was just then snapping out of his reverie about Mo Qing. Hearing Mu Junwu’s words, he chuckled and said, "This is no place for you to sleep. There’s another room upstairs, if you don’t mind that I used to sleep in it."

"Your room? That’s even better. Don’t forget, you’ve slept in my bed before. You didn’t complain, so why should I?"

With a lighthearted tease, Mu Junwu stood up and tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear, revealing a crystalline earlobe and earring. "In that case, I won’t stand on ceremony."

With that, Mu Junwu turned and walked toward the second floor. For some reason, upon hearing that it was Mu Chen’s room, she felt an indescribable joy in her heart. It was this joy that made her eager to see what his room looked like.

"Jun Wu."

Just as she was about to disappear up the stairwell, Mu Chen’s voice called out to her. Mu Junwu paused, turned around, and answered, "What is it? Don’t tell me you regret it? Or do you mind me sleeping in your bed?"

Mu Chen waved his hand and smiled. "Of course not. I just wanted to tell you something. In order to get back to the Eternal Holy Domain as soon as possible, I’m going to take care of the matter with Elder Feng tonight. If I’m not back by tomorrow morning, don’t wait for me. Just head back to the Eternal Holy Domain first."

Although Mu Junwu was curious about what Mu Chen had to do, she didn’t plan on asking since he wasn’t volunteering the information. She just nodded and disappeared up the stairwell.

Mu Chen watched Mu Junwu’s retreating back for a long moment. With a flick of his wrist, a black token appeared in his hand. Engraved on it was the head of an unknown Magical Beast, its mouth wide open. Inside its mouth was the character for "Beast." This was the Holy Beast Order that Feng Chaoming had given him, his pass to enter and exit Holy Beast Mountain.

A flicker of Thunder Light flashed, and Mu Chen’s figure vanished from the living room. When he reappeared, he wasn’t outside the dorm, but in Mo Qing’s room.

It was as clean and tidy as ever, filled with a delicate, lingering fragrance that was identical to the scent of Mo Qing’s hair. After spacing out for a moment, Mu Chen placed a fresh sheet of paper on Mo Qing’s long table, weighting it down with a cup. He then pulled back one of the curtains. After one last, longing look at the room’s furnishings, Mu Chen picked up the Holy Beast Order again. With a thought, he channeled a sliver of Primordial Power into it, and a dazzling Space Array Map instantly appeared...
