Jujutsu Kaisen: Becoming the strongest as Yuji Itadori

Chapter 142 - 142: A short while later [Short Epilogue]

November 27, 2022.

The year 2018 would forever be remembered as the beginning of the Culling Game. An event marked by massive destruction, the spread of fear, and countless lives lost.

It was an event that left its mark on humanity and reshaped the way people viewed the world.

With the Jujutsu world being brought into the open, the global dynamic underwent irreversible changes.

After the Culling Game was properly resolved, the Japanese government became primarily responsible for the Jujutsu world. Whether it was negotiations, laws, or simple diplomacy, they were now at the forefront of it all.

Half of Jujutsu society accepted this without making many demands, while the other half... also ended up accepting it after some effective persuasion from the sorcerers responsible for this transfer of power.

Of course, Jujutsu society did not surrender to the government. It was more accurately a partnership than servitude. As long as the government kept its word, the Jujutsu clans had no problem sharing their strength and knowledge.

This new dynamic worked reasonably well during the first two years. After all, the birth of Jujutsu sorcerers was still largely confined to Japan, aside from a few cases of sorcerers being born outside the country.

In terms of raw power, thanks to its sorcerers, Japan was considered the most influential and powerful country on the planet. Although this was irritating to other countries, it did not change the global dynamic all that much.

That was until two years ago, when Yuji Itadori took over and became the undisputed leader of Jujutsu society, devouring Tengen and taking control of his barriers.

Initially, it was thought that nothing would change, merely a passing of the torch from one guardian to another.

But that quickly proved not to be the case.

Because on January 1, 2020, taking all of Jujutsu society by surprise, Yuji Itadori expanded the barriers that had previously been limited to Japan...

To the entire world.

The effect was immediate.

Panic. Fear. Dread.

Many countries saw it as a direct attack against them.

But Itadori, together with his allies, managed to calm the situation by declaring his intentions.

There was no point in monopolizing power. That would only paint a target on all of Japan and its people. So instead, he chose to expand the boundaries of the barriers and encompass the entire planet at once.

At first, this would not change much for Jujutsu society, since Japanese people were still the ones most likely to be born as sorcerers. But as generations passed, two or three hundred years from now, sorcerers would begin being born all over the world.

Of course, this also meant greater danger, with more dangerous and powerful curses being born as time went on.

But as long as Itadori was there, he was confident he could keep everything under control until the world was capable of dealing with it on its own.

And so, in a little over two years, Japan became the most powerful and influential country in the world. After all, even with the barriers expanded, Jujutsu society was still concentrated within the country.

The rest of the world could only rely on them to deal with Jujutsu-related problems.

Treaties were created, laws were established, and the world slowly began adapting to this new reality.

"...Why are you recapping the last four years for me? Do you think I'm disconnected from the world or something?"

Inside the law office for Jujutsu-related affairs, Sana, a young blonde-haired lawyer, puffed out her cheeks in irritation.

Sitting in his chair, Higuruma, who had a document in his hands, tilted his head and gave her a look.

"No. I just felt a strong urge to read this out loud. Don't mind me." He waved his hand dismissively.

Sana grumbled and rolled her eyes. "Anyway, you still have quite a bit of contact with Jujutsu sorcerers, don't you?"

Higuruma paused and placed the document on the table.

"To some extent, yes. Itadori always visits me when he has questions... Despite being at the forefront of the Jujutsu society and government relationship, his political knowledge is... well, rather mediocre."

"Ooh, talking behind the boss's back? How brave." Sana rolled her eyes. "By the way, there is surprisingly little information about Itadori, even though he's practically a superstar now. Do you know what he's been up to?"

"Other than dealing with this entire mess he created in the first place?" Higuruma's eyes turned toward the ceiling.

"Hey, Higuruma, you're invited to my wedding, and I don't take no for an answer!"

A small smile appeared on his lips.

"I think he's enjoying life."

"...What a weirdo."

.

"Aaaaaah, paperwork, paperwork, and more paperwork. Someone help me, I want to die..."

Behind a desk so covered in documents that it was barely possible to see over the other side, Itadori was practically sprawled across his office chair. His eyes scanned the letters on a document for a moment before he tossed it aside onto the desk.

"I thought I could handle this by myself, but apparently that's not going to be possible... I'm already starting to regret expanding the barriers." He sighed.

He pulled out a few strands of hair, and when he tossed them aside, he watched as the strands transmuted into three perfect clones of himself.

"Here, deal with the paperwork. I need some proper rest."

He stood up and began walking away, completely ignoring the clones' miserable expressions.

As soon as he left the office, he looked around...

Jujutsu High.

Or at least, it used to be.

Over the past four years, it had become the main headquarters of Jujutsu society, as well as the location where one of the main anchors of the enormous barrier had been placed by him.

Of course, it still served as a place to teach new sorcerers, but it was primarily used by the strongest members of Jujutsu society to prepare for missions and handle diplomacy.

"Already heading home, Yuji?"

As he walked through the halls, he noticed Miwa approaching with a small smile.

Miwa had become one of his main assistants ever since he took command of Jujutsu society. Although she was a little "scatterbrained," she was quite reliable when it came to paperwork, schedules, and general support, practically serving as his personal secretary.

"I left a few clones to take care of the paperwork throughout the night." He smiled as he stopped in front of her. "So if there's any problem, you can talk to them, or just send me a message."

Miwa nodded. "Everything has been pretty peaceful these past few days, so I probably won't need to!"

"Still, don't forget to let me know." He walked past her, giving her one last wave. "And make sure you go home and rest. I don't want to see those dark circles under your eyes again!"

Miwa puffed out her cheeks. "It was only once!"

Itadori laughed at that.

"..."

As he turned the corner and took another step forward, his body disappeared without leaving a trace.

An instant later, he appeared in front of a beautiful two-story house.

His expression immediately brightened, and with a happy step, he entered through the front door with a smile.

"I'm home!"

He took off his coat and hung it up before walking directly toward the kitchen.

Only to see Mai standing at the counter with her back to him, cutting vegetables for dinner.

His eyes wandered over her.

These past four years had been good to her. With long hair reaching down her back and a beautiful dress that accentuated the curves of her body, Mai looked like a beautiful, devoted wife.

But she didn't merely look like one.

She truly was one.

Because they had already been married for two years.

He approached stealthily, and Mai, so focused on preparing a good dinner, didn't notice until his hands appeared from behind...

And wrapped around her large belly, his hands settling carefully against it as his fingers gently felt her stomach.

Mai let out a quiet laugh, tilting her head back to rest against his shoulder.

"Welcome home."

He caressed her belly as he began planting kisses against her temple, slowly moving down toward her cheek.

"Mmm... Someone's excited today." She teased, pinching his hand. "Don't distract me. I don't want to burn dinner."

Itadori pouted but didn't argue, giving her a quick kiss on the lips before stepping away and sitting at the table.

He looked around for a moment while Mai returned to working at the counter.

"Where are the other two?" he asked, having heard no sign of movement upstairs or elsewhere in the house.

"Maki went out to investigate a possible cursed womb a few hours ago, and Nobara is, as always, out shopping." Mai replied without looking at him.

He nodded, resting his chin on his hand as he looked at her.

"And our little girl?"

The question was filled with affection and care, a tone that reached Mai's ears like a gentle melody.

Her hands left the counter. She turned toward him and caressed her own belly with a smile.

"She's been kicking quite a lot lately... Want to feel her?"

Itadori didn't need to be asked twice.

He stood up and walked toward her, kneeling in front of her.

His hands reached forward and carefully settled against her large belly, his fingers tracing every inch of her skin with the gentleness only a loving husband could provide.

Thump!

Then he felt it.

A small kick that seemed to respond to his touch, a tiny movement from the little being that seemed determined to announce her existence.

And Itadori didn't know if he could ever feel more love than he did at that moment.

He leaned forward and planted a tender kiss against her belly.

Mai's fingers descended, gently caressing his hair with the tenderness of a loving wife.

Bam!

"We're back!"

The front door opened abruptly, the familiar and energetic voice making Itadori and Mai sigh.

He stood up from the floor and turned to see Nobara and Maki entering the kitchen. Nobara walked in excitedly with several bags of clothes in her hands, while Maki, behind her, had a bit of dirt on her face.

Itadori smiled at the contrast between the two.

"Hey, welcome back."

Nobara blinked when she saw him. "Yuji, you're back so early?"

She dropped the bags on the floor and didn't wait for permission before running toward him and wrapping her arms around his neck, pulling him into a kiss.

Itadori didn't resist, returning the kiss while holding her waist.

It lasted for several seconds.

Nobara pulled away to catch her breath, their eyes meeting.

Cough.

As soon as the dry cough came from behind her, Nobara rolled her eyes with a small smile and stepped away.

Maki immediately approached, stopping in front of him.

Itadori gave her a good look, noticing that her clothes and skin were a little dirty and her hair was disheveled.

"Rough day?" He met her eyes.

Maki snorted.

"A slippery curse."

Itadori nodded. His hands settled on her waist, pulling her closer.

"You shouldn't push yourself so hard. Let the other sorcerers handle cases like that."

Maki avoided his gaze for a moment.

"I don't like sitting around doing nothing..."

Itadori laughed at that. "Stubborn as always."

Then he captured her lips in a kiss.

Maki didn't pull away. Instead, she held the back of his neck and deepened the kiss.

Mai paid no attention to the two of them, having already returned her attention to preparing dinner, while Nobara examined her nails, simply waiting for her turn again.

There was no awkwardness between the four of them. After all, he had been married to all three for two years, giving them plenty of time to put their problems and discomfort aside.

At present, there was no friction between them. Despite their relationship being strange by modern societal standards, they lived in a rather harmonious relationship.

Itadori gave each of them attention and genuinely loved all three deeply, so much so that Mai was now carrying his daughter.

She had not been the first because of favoritism or some competition between the three. It was simply because it was something she genuinely wanted.

While Maki and Nobara were in no hurry to have children, Mai had always wanted to live a simple and comfortable life. Marriage only strengthened those desires, and her desire to become a mother grew considerably when she realized she was living the life she had always wanted with a man she loved.

Of course, seeing Mai always radiant and satisfied as her belly grew larger every day awakened a competitive instinct in the other two. But as tempting as the idea was, Maki didn't want to be out of combat so soon, especially considering all the problems Jujutsu society had been facing lately.

As for Nobara, she genuinely didn't mind becoming pregnant. While she wasn't actively pursuing it, she also wasn't making any effort to prevent it.

Initially, she wanted to avoid it because she knew pregnancy made it difficult for a woman to maintain her appearance. But seeing Mai so radiant and even more beautiful than before completely erased her hesitation.

So if she became pregnant, she would be happy. But if she didn't, she didn't mind waiting either, simply letting nature take its course.

"...Hey, are you two going to take that long? Are you trying to humiliate me because you have supernatural stamina?" Nobara complained.

Maki broke the kiss, a faint blush spreading across her cheeks.

Itadori rolled his eyes at that, giving the three of them a loving look.

It seemed that...

He had truly learned to love this world.

...

Bam!

The front door opened abruptly once again.

"I'm back, idiots!"

Floating into the kitchen, Uro carried a bag full of clothes.

"Nobara, let's try these clothes on!"

"..."

Sigh.
