The Old Man gave him a thumbs up.
Then, he fished a loose Cigarette from his pocket, lit it, and took a deep drag.
He walked up to the second floor.
The Old Man went to room 207 first. After stepping inside, he closed the door behind him before looking at the policewoman standing by the window.
Organizing his words in his head, he set his flashlight aside and said, "You set this trap up brilliantly. I almost fell for it, po-lice-wo-man."
When he slowly enunciated that word, the only sound left in room 207 was a beating heart. The Old Man stared at the policewoman nervously, terrified she would turn around and shoot him on the spot.
The policewoman turned around, her face plastered with shock as she re-evaluated the terrifyingly calm Old Man standing before her.
"What exactly did you deduce?"
Hearing this, the Old Man let out a breath of relief, silently rejoicing that his gamble had paid off.
