Chapter 107: She Baited Him, He Baited Her
Time slipped away quietly in the silence between them, neither having any intention of speaking first.
Lin Jiabei approached the bookshelf and pulled out the same book Chen Ran had been leafing through earlier.
The more she read, the more something felt off. "The contents of this book feel like a cobbled-together mess," she muttered.
Chen Ran nodded. "The empire, long divided, must unite; long united, must divide. That comes from the first chapter of Romance of the Three Kingdoms."
Lin Jiabei frowned in deep thought. The second paragraph on the first page she had turned to read:

The book stated [long united, must divide] first, whereas Chen Ran had said [long divided, must unite] first.
After a brief silence, she continued. "The first paragraph: Before the universe was divided, heaven and earth were in chaos; vast and boundless, unseen by any man. This sounds very familiar. I feel like I have seen it somewhere before."
