Chapter 467 - 234: Broken Domain Town, Divine Creature
Towering, heavy walls formed a ring, protecting dozens of towers that looked as if they were built from rubble. Fully armed demons patrolled atop them.
Broken Domain Town was less a town and more a military fortress.
According to the succubus, the Red Shroud had suddenly appeared on the first layer of the Abyss over a hundred thousand years ago and then established Broken Domain Town.
Afterward, Broken Domain Town gradually developed into the most famous location on the Wanyuan Plain, while also becoming a recruitment camp for cannon fodder.
Once the Blood War began, Broken Domain Town would fill with demons from all corners of the Abyss. They were centrally housed, trained, and issued weapons and armor, ready to be thrown into battle at a moment’s notice.
The guards at the city gate were two Frenzy Demons. The succubus showed them the Red Shroud’s banner, and they entered the town without any trouble.
In stark contrast to the desolate plains outside Broken Domain Town, the town itself was bustling with activity.
The streets were filled with demons coming and going—all sorts of them, bizarre and grotesque, ferocious and terrifying. Yet the atmosphere seemed remarkably harmonious. They all maintained a considerable degree of restraint and courtesy toward one another.
Seeing Pei Ze, a human, many demons were somewhat surprised, but not a single one came forward to attack or provoke him; they merely watched from a distance.
Some of the more perceptive ones seemed to sense that Pei Ze was not to be trifled with, steering clear of him from afar for fear of causing offense.
The main avenue leading from the gate was lined with a seemingly endless row of neat shops, all teeming with customers. As Pei Ze passed by, he glanced over casually and noticed they were all selling bizarre and exotic goods.
Their value might not have been high, but they were quite rare.
If not for the vast knowledge cataloged by his Eye of Omniscience, even he wouldn’t have been able to recognize them all.
The caravan finally stopped in front of an inn.
"This is the Pallid Bone, the largest inn in Broken Domain Town."
The succubus said with a charming smile.
"Lord Wizard can stay here. Broken Domain Town is the most orderly place in the entire Wanyuan Plain, relatively speaking. You won’t have to worry about being attacked by demons."
Pei Ze nodded slightly and tossed a Soul Crystal Stone to the succubus.
The succubus caught the Soul Crystal Stone, her smile growing even more seductive. She leaned close to Pei Ze’s ear and giggled, "If you need, Lord Wizard, I can be your guide during your time in Broken Domain Town. My fee is only two Soul Crystal Stones."
"Of course, if you’re willing to take me on as your assistant, I would serve you for free."
Pei Ze glanced at the succubus, instantly understanding her implication.
Many Wizards had a habit of signing contracts with demons and devils, making them their assistants.
And among them, succubi were undoubtedly the most popular.
The reason for this was obvious.
And succubi were often more than willing to become a Wizard’s assistant.
Demons are born with an innate worship of the strong, not to mention it’s a chance to escape the Abyss, a place filled with meaningless slaughter.
"Aren’t you one of the Red Shroud’s subordinates? Would she let you leave?"
"Her Ladyship has countless succubi under her command. One less won’t be missed," the succubus giggled. "Of course, it would require you to pay a price of a few Soul Crystals."
Pei Ze shook his head. "No, thanks. I don’t need an assistant."
Undeterred by the rejection, the succubus blew Pei Ze a kiss before swaying away.
Pei Ze retracted his gaze and looked at the inn before him.
The Pallid Bone was an inn that looked dilapidated from the outside, but upon entering, one would discover it was lavishly decorated.
As soon as Pei Ze walked in, a Timid Demon attendant immediately came up to greet him.
"Get me your best room," Pei Ze said, tossing it a Magic Crystal Stone.
The Timid Demon caught the Magic Crystal Stone, its eyes instantly lighting up. When it saw the Wizard Robe Pei Ze was wearing, an expression of reverence appeared on its face, and it hastily ushered him inside.
The room was very spacious and quite luxuriously decorated, making for a comfortable stay.
From the succubus, Pei Ze had learned that the Blood War wouldn’t be breaking out just yet. Therefore, he wasn’t in a hurry to meet the Red Shroud. Instead, he set up a Guardian Array in his room and placed a Thunder God Golem to stand guard before leaving the inn.
Since he had made the rare trip to Broken Domain Town, he planned to browse the local shops. Perhaps he could find something good.
Out on the bustling street, Pei Ze strolled among the demonic crowds, looking at the shops on both sides with great interest.
Whenever he saw a shop selling goods, he would go inside to take a look.
The Abyss itself was barren, desolate, and lacked resources, but demons were masters at ’collecting’ them.
Whether by plundering them from outsiders on the wastelands...
...or by luring other civilized races under the guise of trade.
Driven by their greedy nature, most demons were extremely enthusiastic about ’collecting.’
They would put the resources they collected up for sale in their shops, exchanging them for Magic Crystal Stones or Soul Crystal Stones.
As a result, one could, paradoxically, find some good things in the Abyss from time to time.
In just a short while, Pei Ze had already spotted numerous rare materials and strange artifacts, and he couldn’t help but reflect.
’Before I advanced to become an Elemental Mage, this place would have been a treasure trove for me. Unfortunately, for who I am now, these items have lost much of their appeal.’
’Of course, if I see something decent, I’ll still buy it. It’s not a bad idea to add it to my resource reserves.’
’After all, I still have quite a few Magic Crystal Stones on hand.’
’Upgrading and renovating my Wizard Tower cost a lot, but I still have over three hundred thousand Magic Crystal Stones left—more than enough to buy a few trinkets.’
After visiting dozens of shops in a row, Pei Ze finally stopped in front of one that was exceptionally spacious.
His gaze swept over the banner hanging in the upper-right corner of the shop—a flag bearing the emblem of a six-fingered hand—and understanding dawned on him.
