Hitler, with his hands trembling, demanded the medicine, and his personal physician, Theodor Morell, handed him a painkiller and Pervitin.
Although it was a German brand of methamphetamine, known in the future as the drug Philopon, it was being abused in this era without knowledge of its side effects.
Even after tossing it into his mouth, Hitler had to struggle for a while.
Hitler hadn't opened his eyes for a full ten days after the attack on the Führer's Chancellery, and even after waking, he was gasping in pain, only looking for his drugs.
“Are you sure he will be alright, Doctor? The Führer is showing no signs of improvement!”
“The injuries were so severe that there are aftereffects. We still need more time.”
