Chapter 104 - 104: The Charity Foundation
February 2011. Two weeks post-Valentine's.
The gang's at my penthouse. Saturday afternoon.
I've called a meeting. Official purpose: planning.
"Why are we here?" Sheldon asks immediately.
"I want to start a foundation."
"Like makeup?"
"Charitable foundation. Scholarships for artists."
Silence.
Then Leonard: "That's—actually really good."
"I've been thinking about it. I've had—advantages. Lucky breaks. Success that not everyone gets. I want to help others who are struggling."
"Like you were three years ago," Raj adds quietly.
"Exactly."
I remember the Iron Fist disaster. Those 65 comics. The terror.
Someone helped me then. Customers. The gang. Sheldon organizing inventory.
Now I can help others.
We spend two hours planning.
Bernadette knows pharmaceutical company contacts for fundraising.
Leonard's good with administrative structure. Paperwork. Legality.
Sheldon creates algorithms for optimal fund distribution.
Howard suggests targeting specific art schools.
Raj wants poetry scholarships included.
Katie's watching from the kitchen. Smiling.
"How much are you planning to donate?" Leonard asks.
"$50,000 to start. Then $25,000 annually minimum."
"Stuart. That's—"
"I can afford it."
"Still. That's generous."
"It's meaningful. Money sitting in accounts does nothing. Money helping people matters."
Sheldon's calculating. "With optimal investment strategies, $50,000 seed could generate $5,000-7,000 annually in perpetuity. Plus your contributions. That's 15-20 scholarships per year indefinitely."
"Exactly."
"This is statistically optimal philanthropy."
"Thank you, Sheldon."
An hour later. We're setting up the foundation structure.
Articles of incorporation. Board members. Mission statement.
"We should all contribute," Howard says suddenly.
"What?"
"To the foundation. We've all made money from Stuart's investment advice. We should give back too."
"You don't have to—"
"I want to. $1,000. From my profits."
"Me too," Raj agrees.
Leonard nods. "$1,000."
Even Sheldon. "$1,000. Optimal collective action."
Bernadette adds another $1,000.
"That's $5,000," Leonard calculates. "Plus your $50,000. We're starting with $55,000."
Katie walks over. "Make it $56,000. I'm contributing too."
"Katie—"
"It's a good cause. And I want to be part of this. What you're all building."
I'm—overwhelmed.
These people. My friends. My girlfriend.
They're not just supporting the foundation.
They're supporting me.
"Thank you," I manage.
"You've helped all of us," Leonard says. "Our investments. Our lives. Our friendships. This is us helping you help others."
Raj hugs me. "This is beautiful. The universe is aligning."
That night. Just Katie and me.
Everyone's gone. We're cleaning up.
"That was good," she says.
"It was."
"Watching you with your friends. Building something meaningful. That's—you at your best."
"Thanks."
"I mean it. The shops are success. The Marvel work is career. But this? This is purpose."
She's right.
The foundation feels different. Important.
"I want to name it The Second Chance Foundation."
"Why?"
Because I got a second chance at life. Through transmigration. Through powers.
"Because everyone deserves a second chance. To pursue their dreams. To succeed."
"That's perfect."
We finish cleaning. Bed by midnight.
Katie's asleep quickly.
I lie awake thinking about the foundation.
About using supernatural wealth for good.
About justifying the advantages I didn't earn.
If Bitcoin hits $64,000 like my memory says—
That's $960 million potentially.
Almost a billion dollars.
From $1,500 invested.
That wealth could change thousands of lives.
Fund hundreds of scholarships.
Create opportunities that didn't exist before.
That's worthy use of impossible advantages.
That's purpose.
I update my WEALTH_PURPOSE document:
Foundation launched: The Second Chance Foundation Initial funding: $56,000 (includes gang contributions) Annual commitment: $25,000 minimum Future: If Bitcoin peaks as expected, commit $100M to foundation Goal: 1,000+ scholarships over 20 years
I save the document.
Close the laptop.
Slide into bed next to Katie.
My life is perfect.
Business thriving. Love deep. Friends close. Purpose clear.
Nothing can ruin this.
Nothing.
