Chapter 457 - 149: Ying Family’s Hundred Medicines Conference (Part 4)
Ye Mingluo was a smart person, and he immediately realized that this woman named Yin Su was most likely Huo Xin.
Ye Mingluo directly picked up his own bowl and swaggered over to Yin Su’s table to join them for dinner.
Ye Mingluo sat down in the empty spot to Yin Su’s left, reaching out his right hand to her with a smile, saying, "Miss Yin, meeting like this is fate, shall we be friends?"
Yin Su shook hands with him.
Ye Mingluo noticed out of the corner of his eye that the young man at the neighboring table was gazing at their joined hands with a gloomy look, which made him even more curious about their relationship.
Retracting his hand, Ye Mingluo said, "I’m a doctor, my surname is Ye, called Ye Mingluo."
Upon hearing Ye Mingluo’s name, Yin Su looked at him with renewed respect. "So you’re the renowned Ghost Hand Divine Doctor Ye Mingluo, I’ve heard of your fame."
"What line of work are you in, Miss Yin?"
"Neurologist," Yin Su said, "I work at a mental hospital in a small town, not comparable to Doctor Ye."
Learning that Yin Su was a neurologist surprised Ye Mingluo.
Huo Xin was a cerebral palsy patient, while Yin Su was a neurologist—was this a coincidence?
"And who might you be, sir?" Ye Mingluo turned to look at You Jiaoyang.
You Jiaoyang looked up, silently gazing at Ye Mingluo and replied in a deep voice, "My name is You Jiaoyang."
"You Jiaoyang?" Hadn’t he heard this name somewhere before?
Ye Mingluo’s mind quickly worked, recalling where he’d heard this name, making his expression suddenly become peculiar. "Do you happen to have a sister named You Mingyue? And you’re half-brothers with Xu Xingguang?"
You Jiaoyang straightforwardly admitted, "That’s me. So it seems Doctor Ye knows Xingguang?"
"She is my master!" Ye Mingluo frankly admitted.
"Master?" Now it was You Jiaoyang’s turn to be astonished, "How could someone as capable as Doctor Ye be Xingguang’s apprentice?"
When did Xingguang learn medicine?
"Huh?" Ye Mingluo uttered an odd syllable, asking You Jiaoyang, "Don’t you know your sister is the Medicine Farmer Star who cured Young Master Xiahou?"
You Jiaoyang’s eyes went wide.
And the woman named Yin Su showed subtle emotional shifts upon hearing the words ’Medicine Farmer Star’.
"So Miss Xu is the Medicine Farmer Star," Yin Su marveled, "She is quite young; I thought the Medicine Farmer Star was an elder predecessor."
Ye Mingluo shrugged, instinctively defending his master, "Ability doesn’t necessarily correlate with age, you shouldn’t look down on my master just because she’s young."
"Of course not, just a bit surprised."
Seeing Ye Mingluo happily conversing with the newly met red-dressed beauty, Cheng Yue took a bite of rib, scoffing, "So frivolous, aren’t you afraid of kidney problems?"
Hearing this, Zheng Lie turned his head to the neighboring table, observing Ye Mingluo and Yin Su’s interaction, commenting fairly, "It’s just an ordinary chat."
Cheng Yue snorted lightly, "He only chats with pretty women, how shallow."
Zheng Lie fell silent.
He seemed to have discovered something remarkable.
.
After finishing the birthday banquet, Xu Xingguang found Fang Jinsu and Ying Ruoruo.
"It’s all set, later you two take the little one to see the Old Madam. I’ve secured the opportunity for you, whether you can convince the Old Madam to keep this child depends on his own talent."
Fang Jinsu breathed a sigh of relief, while Ying Ruoruo raised her chubby hand to pat her son’s head. "Kid, it’s all up to your performance tonight!"
The little one clutched his carefully styled hair, lamenting, "Mom, you’ve messed up my hairstyle!"
Fang Jinsu chuckled quietly, pulling a business card from his suit pocket, handing it to Xu Xingguang, saying, "This is the business card of my friend. The photography equipment you wanted is already being customized, should be ready in about half a month."
"Teacher Xu, keep the business card, you can contact him anytime."
"Alright."
Xu Xingguang took the business card, just as Ying Family’s eldest grandson came over.
"Miss Xu, my grandmother wants to see you." Ying Jinqiao smiled discreetly, and Fang Jinsu promptly found an excuse to leave.
After Fang Jinsu left, Ying Jinqiao said to Xu Xingguang, "Miss Xu, my grandmother has invited a group of young and talented doctors who are upstairs discussing. She said you might be interested in the meeting, and asked me to bring you upstairs to sit in."
"Please lead the way."
Xu Xingguang followed Ying Jinqiao upstairs, entering a spacious meeting room, pondering along the way.
Old Madam Ying sat at the head position of the meeting, a group of young, unfamiliar medical professionals seated below her.
Seeing Xu Xingguang arrive, Old Madam Ying nodded at her, gesturing to the closest empty spot next to her. "Miss Xu, there’s a seat here."
Under the gaze of strangers, Xu Xingguang went over to sit beside Old Madam Ying.
After sitting down, Xu Xingguang glanced around the room, finally spotting two familiar faces in the crowd.
It was Ye Mingluo and Yin Su.
Yin Su even gave her a nod.
Xu Xingguang returned the gesture.
"Now that everyone is here, let’s keep it brief," Old Madam Ying pointed to the box on the tea table beside her, and one of her granddaughters opened that box, extracting a stack of gilt-edged invitations.
"Jinxi, distribute the invitations to the guests."
The girl named Ying Jinxi distributed the invitations to each guest.
Xu Xingguang also received an invitation; the black background with gilt writing read—
Hundred Medicines Conference!
"Our Ying family has been in medicine for generations, with a history of over two thousand years. Throughout these two thousand years, we’ve always remained true to our original mission, focusing on the study of Chinese medicine to benefit the public."
"Every ten years, our Ying family holds a family competition, which we call the Hundred Medicines Conference. Anyone who achieves top three results as doctors or pharmacists in the conference can study at the Medicine King Tower for a period of five years. Those who return from the Medicine King Tower become the most capable in our Ying family."
"In earlier years, the Hundred Medicines Conference was a family event, not open to outsiders. After war broke out in Xia Country, much of the cultural heritage was destroyed, and our Chinese medicine bore the brunt."
"When the Xia Country Alliance was established and the nation stabilized, considering the preservation of Chinese medicine, we decided to invite outsiders to participate in the competition."
"All of you are outstanding young talents in the global medical community, I sincerely invite you to participate in our Ying family’s Hundred Medicines Conference! The event is scheduled for mid-January next year, which is over four months away. You can consider it seriously, and if you wish to participate, simply call the number above to register."
After speaking, Old Madam Ying gave Xu Xingguang a few extra glances.
Xu Xingguang closed the invitation, stood up, and bowed to Old Madam Ying, saying, "Thank you, Old Madam Ying, for your recognition and esteem. Medicine Farmer Star will certainly attend the Hundred Medicines Conference on time."
Though unaware of what Old Madam Ying’s real intentions were, she had to attend this Hundred Medicines Conference.
She wanted to find out what secrets were hidden inside this mysterious affair.
