Chapter 192: The Triggered United States
Everyone understood what Xie Changning was getting at.
While the other side was studying their old technology, they were already using their previous data to create updated products.
And the other side could only ever play catch-up, constantly trailing behind.
At this, everyone relaxed, and a sense of superiority began to well up.
’So the United States finally has a day like this!’
Strangely, Xie Changning’s words filled them all with an eager sense of anticipation.
Xie Changning: "..." ’There’s no need to get so excited. It was just an offhand comment. How did they all get so on board?’
Still, they stopped swarming around her and chattering about how despicable the United States was, which gave Xie Changning some peace and quiet. So, she let them be.
「On the day of the competition, the contestants from both countries arrived at the venue.」
Since they would be living and eating here, the venue was divided in two. Each side was fully equipped, with enough supplies for both countries’ teams to live there for three days.
After Xie Changning led her team members into the venue, she saw the team leader from the United States giving her a provocative look.
It was as if to say, ’Your core technology will soon be ours.’
How could the people behind Xie Changning possibly stand for that?
They were about to erupt in anger, but Xie Changning stopped them.
She gave the man an enigmatic smile, leaving him unable to guess her thoughts.
’He wants to see me get angry, to see me lose my composure? Not a chance!’
For now, she wasn’t concerned with their petty tricks.
She trusted that her country would handle this matter well, so she didn’t need to worry.
So, she calmly led her people to their designated area. Standing on the stage without a hint of being affected, she greeted the various judges and the organizers.
She wore an expression that said, ’Go ahead and disassemble it; you’re just falling for our trap.’
This left the officials and judges from the United States with baffled expressions.
’Everyone else is furious, so why is Xie Changning so calm? And why do I get the feeling we’ve fallen into a trap? Is it just my imagination?’
’It must be my imagination, right?’
The American team leader felt it too. He stared daggers at Xie Changning, only to see her completely unfazed as she instructed her team on what to do and what not to do.
His hands, hanging by his sides, clenched into tight fists.
’I didn’t expect her to be so hard to deal with!’
’This championship will definitely be ours!’
’I’ll show that woman from China what real technology is! What real science is!’
Xie Changning didn’t know what he was thinking. If she did, she would have surely given him a look of utter bewilderment. ’How can someone be so absurd?’
The two teams began their preparations as the judges took their seats, their eyes fixed on both sides.
While the United States contestants were studying how to disassemble the pager on their table, Xie Changning was already leading her team in taking apart the printer and laying out the components in different places.
From this alone, it was clear that Xie Changning’s team trusted her completely and worked together with incredible synergy.
Every component, every screw, had its own designated spot.
It looked almost exactly like the disassembly diagram from a manual!
By the time the United States team had finished taking apart the pager, Xie Changning’s printer was already in the upgrade phase. Her team was crowded around it, upgrading its system and components.
They made the printer’s functions smoother and its printed text sharper!
While the United States team was studying the pager, the printer was already entering the reassembly stage.
Next up were the cellular phone and the pager.
China’s team proceeded in an orderly fashion, never once glancing in the direction of the American team. It was as if they were the only team in the venue and the one from the United States didn’t even exist.
This behavior was noticed by the American contestants.
Unwilling to be ignored, they started making all sorts of noise.
If it wasn’t the clatter of machinery, it was verbal curses, mumbled roars, and so on.
Even the spectators in the audience felt second-hand embarrassment watching their actions.
They were making a spectacle of themselves trying to get the other team’s attention, but the other team couldn’t care less, completely ignoring them no matter what ruckus they caused.
Even when they made a huge commotion, Xie Changning kept her team members in check, not allowing them to spare the other side so much as a single glance.
And so, the Chinese side was enthusiastically discussing technology.
Meanwhile, the American side was muttering and fuming as if they were going to flip the tables. Some components were even damaged because they were using too much force.
The judge from the United States: (キ`゚Д゚´)!! Absolutely floored, buddy!
’How can people be this stupid!’
The American judge sat in his seat, taking a deep breath and trying to suppress his anger. He let out a heavy cough, attempting to calm himself.
Unfortunately, it had no effect.
His cough was drowned out by the noise the American technicians were making.
The judges from the other countries watched the American judge with amusement, as if to say: ’Looks like your technicians are devolving.’
The American judge finally gave up, watching them with a wooden expression as they continued to cause a commotion.
Finally, the spectators in the audience couldn’t stand their embarrassing behavior any longer and roared, "If you’re going to keep making noise, then get off the stage and forfeit!"
Only then did the American contestants tone it down, no longer making noise as they had before.
After the noise from the American side died down, Cheng Jinghao spoke to Xie Changning. "Director, you’re amazing."
"Director, to use your term, they’ve completely lost their composure, haven’t they?"
"Otherwise, why would they make so much noise for so long just to get our attention?"
She thought about it and found it rather funny.
The other technicians from China nodded in agreement. They found it hilarious and felt they could mock the other team about this for a whole year.
Three days was a generous amount of time, enough for the technicians from both countries to thoroughly study the provided equipment and make improvements.
However, they had calculated the time based on the United States’ need to both research and upgrade, forgetting that China only needed to perform the upgrades.
As a result, China’s technical team finished upgrading all the products in just two days.
They even submitted their products a day early, finishing ahead of schedule.
China finishing the competition early was a fatal blow to the ever-arrogant American contestants.
It had a massive psychological impact on them.
The more anxious they became, the further they fell behind. In the end, they only managed to upgrade the pager and the printer, having failed to even figure out the cellular phone!
Xie Changning simply watched this unfold with cool detachment, offering no comment.
"Are you laughing at us?"
Xie Changning, who had been standing there with a deadpan expression, was suddenly roared at by a technician from the neighboring station.
She turned her head in surprise, seemingly not expecting him to lose his composure so suddenly and yell at her in a setting like this.
Xie Changning’s reaction made him feel as if he had just been slapped in the face in front of everyone!
