Chapter 163: Transition
Xie Changyi admitted that Wang Changsheng was special to her, but she wouldn’t be as rash as she used to be.
For Xie Changyi, her career was more important right now.
Wang Changsheng was important, but not *that* important anymore.
Xie Changning nodded. "I agree. With your personality now, if he were really that important to you, you probably wouldn’t even give him a chance to prepare himself."
You’d just go for it and make him yours.
Since Xie Changyi wasn’t acting on it, it just meant Wang Changsheng wasn’t so important to her anymore.
"I really didn’t expect him to be working so hard behind the scenes, that he hadn’t given up on himself." As she spoke, a hint of relief appeared on Xie Changyi’s face.
In any case, he was proving his worth, so Xie Changyi’s recommendation hadn’t been in vain. That made her happy.
Otherwise, she would have worried that her sister had made the trip for nothing.
"He’s a proud man. He was afraid you’d find out, so he didn’t dare tell you."
"...Let him be."
On the way back, Xie Changyi’s attention shifted. She stopped talking about Wang Changsheng and started discussing the cosmetics factory with Xie Changning.
Xie Changning shared her ideas with Xie Changyi.
Xie Changyi was amazed. She had no idea how her sister came up with these things, but Xie Changning’s ideas always seemed to be right on the cutting edge of international trends.
Xie Changyi was thrilled.
"If the leadership finds out, they’ll definitely give you their full support!" ’They wouldn’t just approve my sister’s machinery lab,’ she thought, ’they’d even approve the lab for the cosmetics factory!’
"We will in the future. We need to develop more product lines, more functional personal care products. Then, we’ll go abroad and compete for their market share."
And that was despite China’s own market being massive.
A market those foreigners were fighting tooth and nail for, even resorting to slander to get a piece of it!
’But now that I’m here,’ Xie Changning thought, ’I won’t let those foreigners enter China’s market the way I remember them doing. If they try, I’ll work with the nation’s leaders and teach them a lesson they won’t forget!’
After leaving Wang Changsheng’s home, the two sisters returned to Xie Changyi’s place.
That evening, Yue Yihan came to pick up Xie Changning, and Xie Changyi tagged along with them to a state-run restaurant for dinner.
This was the first time Xie Changning had brought Yue Yihan to a meal with Xie Changyi since the sisters had found each other again. Sitting at the head of the table, Xie Changyi watched Yue Yihan bustle around and a smile touched her lips.
She was very satisfied with Yue Yihan.
"Your unit must be pretty busy right now, huh?" Although Xie Changyi wasn’t in the military, she was aware of recent developments, which prompted her question.
Yue Yihan nodded. "I’ve only had free time in the mornings and evenings these past couple of days. I haven’t had any time to go to Anong County to see my wife. We’ve had a lot of missions lately."
After he said that, they all had a tacit understanding not to discuss the details of his missions any further.
Xie Changning tilted her head to look at Yue Yihan. "If you’re busy, you don’t have to worry about me. I’m not a child." ’Besides,’ she thought, ’it’s not like I’m pregnant. He doesn’t need to be so concerned.’
"I... I wanted to see you."
Understanding what she was trying to say, he explained somewhat sheepishly why he had come.
’The recent missions have been dangerous,’ he thought. ’I’m afraid I might be here today and gone tomorrow.’
"Honey, there’s one more thing I need to tell you," Yue Yihan said, choosing his words carefully. "Some people will be coming from Beijing soon. When they get here, will you... will you come with me to meet them?"
He hoped Xie Changning would go with him.
’He wanted to show them all just how amazing his wife was!’
