My Arts Evolve When Perfected

Chapter 278 - 277: Top Tier of the Peeping Dao Realm

According to plan, over five million of Gao Yuan City’s citizens had already been teleported away. But now, they were suddenly ambushed by the invading Kunlun Demon Clan. Huge numbers of people were slaughtered, and even the underground Teleportation Array was about to be breached. The citizens descended into further chaos, drastically increasing the difficulty of protecting them.

By this point, Jiang Qiu’s eyes were completely bloodshot. He had witnessed countless Human Martial Artists die, and had seen Grandmaster Lin Yu—who had maintained the Array for twelve whole hours for him—force himself to stand and single-handedly face the attacks of two injured Demon Marshals.

The colorful lotuses throughout the city gradually faded. The torrential downpour once again scoured the land as the power of the Water Tornadoes began to rise, trapping Jiang Qiu within them like a Water Prison once more.

It wasn’t that he couldn’t forcibly break free from the Water Tornadoes, which were already much weaker than before. But doing so would undoubtedly interrupt the forging of the Yangshui Jade Sinews, and all his efforts would have been for nothing.

Besides, without him as a focal point, the Rain Tribulation would grow even more violent, and the demons skilled in water control would unleash even more terrifying destructive power.

For now, he could not move. He could only watch as the Great Demons, scrambling to be the one to kill him and claim the glory, were intercepted by the Martial Artists, and blood rained down in the end.

Time marched on. The number of Martial Artists defending the Martial Arts Building dwindled, while more and more demons breached the city’s defenses. In many areas, the front lines were visibly collapsing inward.

Grandmaster Lin Yu, withered by the immense drain on his power, had aged until his body was like decaying wood. He retreated from the battlefield, and the vice-principal of the Soldier Cultivation Academy, who had rushed back from the west, took his place. Instantly, several battles at the Dao Entry Realm level broke out in the heart of Gao Yuan City’s Inner City.

It was obvious that Gao Yuan City’s doom was imminent. This was no longer a battle where an individual’s power could decide the outcome—not unless the Savior could surpass everyone’s limits.

Of course, that would also mean surpassing the limits of the rules themselves, something no one was currently capable of.

But that didn’t mean there was nothing Jiang Qiu could do.

[Peeping Dao Realm—Top Tier]

[Great Dao: 0/1]

RUMBLE—

Amidst the battles between the most powerful experts, the rolling Thunder overhead didn’t seem quite as terrifying. But as they felt the bloodline enhancements within their bodies begin to weaken, some of the Great Demons stopped fighting and looked up at the sky.

They were shocked to find that the sky, once blanketed in dark clouds, was now churning. The lashing rain fell at a slant, as if being tugged by some mysterious and terrifying force.

This was not normal.

This massive storm blanketing all of Gao Yuan City was no ordinary weather event. It was the Rain Tribulation, summoned by Emperor [Chen]. It greatly benefited the Demon Race while simultaneously suppressing the combat strength of the Human Race.

The Dragon Race aura it contained had always made the demons feel secure, as if Emperor [Chen] himself were on the battlefield. But now, the Rain Tribulation was dissipating. Daylight, previously blocked out, now streamed through a rift in the clouds, illuminating the center of Gao Yuan City.

In this zone, the buff from the Rain Tribulation gradually weakened, and the effects of the flooding slowly subsided.

’Could Emperor [Chen]... No, that’s impossible!’

Many a Demon Marshal and Demon General stared wide-eyed at the black Realm, only to quickly dismiss the thought.

’The great Emperor [Chen] cannot be defeated, let alone fall in battle. He is an Emperor among demons, reincarnated from an ancient era tens of thousands of years ago. How could he possibly lose to someone from this age?’

’Besides, his Realm is still standing and the fight isn’t over. Perhaps the problem isn’t on Emperor [Chen]’s end.’

Then...

HUMMM...

A draconic might erupted from the very center of the clustered human forces. An ancient, distant aura pulsed outward, instantly cowing every demon on the battlefield. Not one of them failed to shudder. Some were caught off-guard and cut down by Martial Artists who seized the opportunity. Others scrambled back behind their Demon Generals or Demon Marshals, staring in stunned disbelief.

The massive, raging battle ground to an abrupt halt. In a bizarre truce, both humans and demons ceased their attacks, creating a standoff where an army of tens of thousands of demons surrounded a few thousand human Martial Artists.

At first, most of the Martial Artists couldn’t process it either. Why was a Dragon Race aura erupting from their side? And why was it coming from a youth who possessed a Human-shaped Dragon Body?

A young Martial Artist asked in confusion, "Did the heavy rain stop in this area?"

A veteran with flowing white hair replied in a low voice, "That’s because the rain is avoiding him."

All eyes converged on Jiang Qiu. The innately domineering pressure of his bloodline weighed down on everyone, human and demon alike. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to control it; fear is simply a biological instinct, and he couldn’t control an instinct that arose from the depths of another’s very Soul.

The Dragon Race was an Ancient Demon Clan of which there were few records. After the supreme True Dragon of the Celestial Profound Great Realm had fallen, the only dragon left in the world was [Chen].

The origins of this particular demon clan were unknown, but it seemed to be an innate instinct for all races to fear any expert who possessed the bloodline of this Ancient Demon Clan.

Even Demon Marshals at the Dao Entry Realm couldn’t help but shiver at the first glimpse of Jiang Qiu’s Dragon Eyes.

It was partly the same feeling as facing Emperor [Chen], and partly the innate fear an inferior bloodline holds for a supreme and pure one.

The modern Demon Race was the product of biological Demonization. The process of them growing stronger was known as Ancestral Return, so their bloodlines were naturally inferior. If Emperor [Chen] hadn’t used a special method to fuse them with a forged Ancient Demon Clan bloodline, most of the weaker demons facing Jiang Qiu now would probably have dropped to their knees in submission.

"Lord Dream Demon, what do we do now? Emperor [Chen]’s Rain Tribulation was... by him..."

A worried Demon General asked Demon Marshal Dream Demon for a strategy.

The Kunlun Demon Clan had already lost a fair number of Demon Marshals. They had attacked Gao Yuan City with at least three times the top-tier combat strength, but had been met with the most tenacious resistance they had ever encountered. Even some Great Demons at the High Tier of the Dao Entry Realm had been forcefully eliminated, taken out by Human Grandmasters who self-destructed in their final moments.

Of the nine Demon Marshals currently on the field, only three belonged to the ranks of the Ten Great Demon Marshals. The one with the highest status among them was Dream Demon. Because of his unique Talent, he had been personally nurtured by Emperor [Chen]. He was a late bloomer who, in the short span of a single year, had broken through both the Peeping Dao Realm and the Dao Entry Realm, and was now at the High Tier.

It was said that breaching Tianshan City had taken very little effort, all thanks to this Demon Marshal, who broke through their defenses from the inside. He had slaughtered several Grandmasters before the main army even began its assault.

Dream Demon had the appearance of a young man with medium-length, slightly curly hair. An image of two colorful butterflies, flying wing-to-wing, was imprinted on the center of his forehead. His brilliant green eyes were as captivating as jade, and with his fair complexion, thin lips, and gentle demeanor, he looked like a leisurely young noble just returned from a trip to Jiangnan.

As he hovered in this form before ranks of Great Demons who stood dozens or even hundreds of feet tall, he seemed as small as a speck of dust. Yet, none of them surpassed him in presence, creating a bizarre and striking contrast.

"Emperor [Chen] won’t lose. We just need to kill everyone here before he emerges. Oh, right. Our focus should be on attacking the Martial Arts Building. The humans set up a massive Teleportation Array under it. By now, they’ve probably already sent several million people away."

Dream Demon’s tone was placid as he narrowed his eyes at Jiang Qiu. "If we don’t destroy that Teleportation Array soon, what will we do if he escapes?"
