Pioneer Lord: I Have Conquering System

Chapter 462 310: Ancient Secrets

Fatir's voice rang out beside Levi, filled with endless pride and reverence.

'If he had a choice, the Lord would rather he'd never come to this underground Holy Hall.'

'Knowing such a secret meant the Holy Light Church wouldn't let him leave so easily.'

The Holy Light Church's secret was enough to shock the world!

A human who had lived since ancient times would be enough to drive any ambitious person with a limited lifespan into a frenzy.

The era of the Twelve Saints was undoubtedly the golden age of Magic; the very concept of the Magic Tide didn't even exist back then.

The Elf Empire still held dominion over its lands, the Dwarves were engrossed in digging their gold mines in Iron Forge Castle, and the Beastmen had founded the Beastman Empire in the Wilderness.

Back then, humanity could barely hold on to its own small patch of territory.

In that grand era, these vanguards were undoubtedly the overlords of the Middle Ages Continent.

Unfortunately, time grinds all things to dust, and the glory of these overlords had long since faded.

The reason for their utter decline was long buried in the Holy War that had swept across the entire Middle Ages Continent.

And yet, the world today seemed to have collectively forgotten that Holy War, with only a few sparse entries remaining in the history books.

As a result, the Lord didn't know much about it either.

"Levi, if Lord Igo Saint hadn't specifically asked to see you, I would have been unwilling to drag you into the troubles of the Holy Light Church."

Fatir bowed respectfully toward the handsome man in the Holy Water Pool.

If they were going by seniority, this Saint was old enough to be her great-grandfather's great-grandfather's... grandfather.

Levi also made a show of bowing.

'Can't be blamed for being too polite,' he thought. 'Who knows what kind of incredible abilities this old relic has? Best to stay respectful.'

"Fatir, is our Lord Igo Saint asleep? Should we wake him?"

But after a long while, Levi saw no sign of the Saint waking up and couldn't help but whisper something deeply disrespectful.

"No. In truth, this body will never wake up."

Just then, a light, ethereal voice drifted from behind them.

The already on-edge Lord was so startled he grabbed Fatir by the waist and leaped back a good ten paces.

"Halt! What foul fiend are you? Show yourself!" He was so scared that a line straight out of a Far East shadow play blurted out of him.

"Alright, Levi, don't be so tense. This is Lord Igo Saint."

Even Fatir didn't know whether to laugh or cry at the Lord's antics, patting the arm wrapped around her waist with her small hand.

"Huh?" Levi's face was a mask of disbelief.

He looked at the short man before him, who wasn't even as tall as Fatir, then turned his head to glance at the giant man soaking in the Holy Water Pool.

There was no way in hell Levi would believe that this short man, who barely came up to his chest, was the famous Igo Saint, one of the Twelve Saints.

You couldn't blame him for overreacting. It was like expecting a fierce tiger and getting a gentle lamb instead; no one could have remained calm.

"Mr. Levi, could you perhaps put our Her Highness Saintess down first?" Igo Saint said with a smile, his gaze falling upon Fatir, whom the Lord was holding with one arm.

"Ahem! Lord Igo Saint, please don't take offense. Your entrance was just a bit... startling." Levi gave an awkward chuckle and finally set Fatir back on the ground, then began to size up the Saint with curiosity.

Compared to the godlike man in the Holy Water Pool, who inspired awe at a single glance, this Igo Saint seemed far more ordinary and serene.

But the Lord knew this was the true bearing of the powerful. In the words of his past life, it was a 'return to true simplicity.'

His features were handsome, both kind and solemn. His eyes were as deep as a starry sky, seemingly able to pierce through one's heart, yet they were filled with pity and compassion.

He wore a simple white robe devoid of any ornate decoration, but it was embroidered with mysterious Runes from which Levi could feel an unimaginably dense Magic Power emanating.

His long golden hair nearly swept the floor; one could easily imagine he must have been quite the heartthrob in his youth.

"Levi, I'll call you that, if I may. I often heard of your exploits in Gonda, and later, Little Tiel told me a few things about you as well." Igo Saint took the lead, walking toward a small hut beside the Holy Hall. "Before we discuss other matters, why don't you first try some of my violet honey tea?"

"Whatever you wish. Levi, Knight... they're all fine." The Lord fell in step right behind the Saint.

'In for a penny, in for a pound,' he figured. 'Besides, the records say the Twelve Saints dedicated their lives to helping others, selflessly offering their Power, even sacrificing themselves. They were said to be filled with tolerance and understanding for the world's faults, every one of them a Great Monk who pitied all living things.'

However, Levi noticed the Saint wasn't walking, but floating just above the ground. 'No wonder I didn't hear him sneak up behind me,' he thought.

"Oh, is that right? What sort of exploits? What did Fatir say about me?" Levi asked, pleased with himself. Being remembered by a legendary Saint was enough to make the Lord feel a bit smug.

"At first, it seems you were the country Baron who sold himself. Then, the lucky Baron... right up until you became the respected Marquis Levi." With a casual wave of his hand, the door swung open on its own. Inside, he gestured for the two of them to sit at a round table.

'That's about what I expected,' he thought, 'but what the hell is this 'country Baron who sold himself' about?' The Lord was utterly speechless.
