Chapter 137
Dron’s mind swam.
All the information that he was receiving overwhelmed him.
At least, that’s what it felt like.
He took in a few breaths and tried to steady himself.
It was only then that he realized it wasn’t just because of the information he had received that he was overwhelmed. Instead, it felt as if he were ill.
His heart felt as if it were beating erratically, and he felt warm. His fingers shook even though there was no clear danger in the vicinity. Everything about what he was feeling felt off.
He closed his eyes again and tried to figure out what exactly was wrong with him. It was clear something was off.
He thought long and hard, but all he could think about was Tempest.
That was it.
He missed her. It’d been too long since he’d seen her. Since he’d heard her voice. He wanted to touch her. Wanted to make sure that she was okay. Wanted to be with his mate.
"Are you okay?" Tine questioned. He heard her, but it sounded like she was far away. He was no longer paying attention to what she was saying.
"I need... I need to get out of here." There was no way that he would be able to join this rebellion and do what was right, not until he knew for sure that Tempest was okay.
"Come, let me take you to your space. You need to rest." Tine grabbed hold of Dron’s arm and once again started pulling him in a different direction.
It was only then that he realized he needed to focus on what was happening.
"I don’t want to go to another space. I want to get my men and continue on my mission. If I need more help from you or your people, I know where to find you."
Tine looked up at him as if he had just lost his mind. "Oh, sweet child, you are really more naive than I gave you credit for. You know of us now. You know where my safe haven is. Do you really think I’m going to let you leave without making sure you won’t come back with the entire Thraqen force to take us out? I’m sorry. I can’t let you leave."
Dron skidded to a stop.
There was the danger he was so worried about.
He’d gone from warrior to prisoner in a moments time.
"You can’t truly mean to keep me here against my will." Dron snarled at the woman. He didn’t want to make an enemy out of her, but if she didn’t let him go, there was no telling how long it would be until he could get home. That wasn’t an option. He needed to get this over with as fast as possible.
"I’m not keeping you here against your will. Surely it is your will to make us more comfortable with your presence? Is it not? I thought you were here to get answers. I have some of the answers that you seek, but in order for me to feel comfortable giving them to you, I need to know that you have my people’s best interests at heart. Isn’t that what we all want?"
"And how can I do that for you? By being placed in a prison cell with no contact to the outside world?" Dron narrowed his eyes at the woman.
"Of course not. You’ll be placed in one of our most comfortable suites. You’ll have everything you need, including contact with the outside. Something I’m sure you haven’t had since you’ve stepped foot on this island."
It took Dron a second to realize what she was saying. Wherever she was leading him right now, he’d be able to reach Thraqe. He’d be able to speak with Tempest. Suddenly, the thought of being held prisoner for a few hours didn’t seem so bad.
"What about my men? They can’t just be left—" Before Dron could finish his statement, Tine raised her hand to stop him.
"Of course they will be well taken care of as well. As well as your man, Krazek. I’ve learned that our doctors are just about finished with his treatment, and he’ll be able to join you all shortly. All is well, Dron. Have a little faith."
He huffed but didn’t say any more. It wasn’t like he had any real choice. He needed these answers, but more importantly, he needed to speak with Tempest. He needed to make sure she was okay.
"So be it." Dron mumbled and allowed Tine to take him toward a multi-story building. This was unusual. There were very few multi-story buildings in Thraqe, and most of them were designated for the High Royals. It looked like a mansion, but there were no extra guards outside. There was nothing really keeping Dron from just walking out, as much as he could see.
Tine stood in front of another plain brown door, and it opened for her.
Dron looked down at the lady at his side. "You must have quite the engineers in order to create such a community."
Tine sighed and looked around proudly. "Yes, we’ve been blessed with quite a few talented individuals here, but in case you haven’t noticed, we are lacking in the military department."
Dron didn’t want to mention it simply because he didn’t want to stir up any bad blood, especially when he didn’t know for sure what Tine had in store for him, but there was a strong need for trained soldiers in the area. Sure, there were a lot of people, but none of them looked as if they were built for battle. A few young alphas and mostly betas roamed around.
"Unless you are looking for a war, then I wouldn’t worry about soldiers."
"We are preparing for war, one way or another." Tine responded.
A few moments later, Tine had guided Dron to a room. When the door opened, he was surprised to see that she was indeed telling him the truth. If this was meant to be a cell, it was the most luxurious prison he’d ever seen.
It was big enough to house his entire crew if they needed it, but Tine quickly let him know that the room would be his until he was ready to leave.
"Get comfortable and I’ll make sure your men know where you are if they need to get in contact with you. Though I’m not sure they’ll be reaching out any time soon. They’ve found the local pleasure house. They’re occupied at the moment."
Dron huffed but didn’t reply any more than that. Now that he knew they were all okay he could focus on what really mattered.
He waited a second for Tine to leave and then instantly pulled up his communication device on his wrist and swiped for Tempest.
The line buzzed a few times but she didn’t answer.
He called again and again, all with the same result.
She wasn’t there.
Dron could feel the rage building up inside of him. So quickly in fact it felt as if he were about to rip through his own skin.
She wasn’t there. But where could she be...or rather who could she be with.
