High Martial: I Grind Professions

Chapter 302 - 176: Blade Dao Achieved, Descendants of the Demon Emperor

[MAXIMUM-LEVEL RED ALERT!]

[SOURCE: XILIN CITY STARGATE FORTRESS]

[ALERT LEVEL: CITY GATE IN PERIL. DEFENSIVE FORCES ON THE VERGE OF COLLAPSE! REQUESTING IMMEDIATE REINFORCEMENTS FROM PATROL!]

"Xilin City?" Li Wen frowned slightly.

Ever since Blue Star implemented its strategic consolidation of counties and cities, it had concentrated the bulk of its defensive forces in key urban centers.

Strategic locations like Changning and Xilin had their garrisons significantly bolstered. They had an ample number of Great Sun Realm godfiends and were even overseen by experts at the Realm of the Dao.

They would rarely issue a cross-regional request for aid of this level unless they were facing an exceptionally dire situation.

This meant the pressure Xilin City was currently facing had likely surpassed the absolute limit of the fortress garrison’s capabilities.

Every time a request like this was made, it meant the front lines were at a life-or-death juncture, where every second was priceless.

Without a shred of hesitation!

SWOOSH—!

Li Wen’s figure vanished in an instant, leaving only a faint trail of light in the air.

He didn’t choose to return to the underground city gate in Changning City to take a high-speed aircraft. Instead, he flew directly, instantly pushing his speed to the absolute maximum.

This was something he never would have done before.

Even though his own flight speed was comparable to a godfiend who had just entered the King-level, it still fell short of the Human Race’s most advanced shuttle-type aircraft.

Previously, he would have rather spent a few extra seconds rushing back to the city gate to ensure both stability and speed.

But now, after stepping into the Realm of the Dao, everything was different.

His profound understanding of the world and all its creations seemed to have brought him into a strange, harmonious resonance with the space around him.

Air resistance dropped dramatically, as if the currents of the wind themselves were embracing him.

His maximum speed value itself hadn’t increased significantly, but in this low-resistance environment, his actual displayed speed was boosted by a significant margin.

This speed already surpassed that of a conventional King-level godfiend in flight and was even swifter than the fastest aircraft.

’Return to the city gate? That would waste at least five to ten precious seconds.’

In a rescue mission of this caliber, five seconds could decide the fate of an entire city, the lives and deaths of hundreds, even thousands, of comrades-in-arms.

Violet-gold True Essence formed a sharp aura around Li Wen’s body, shielding him from the violent high-altitude air currents and reducing drag to a minimum.

He transformed into a brilliant streak of rainbow light that tore across the sky, soaring over the rapidly receding mountains and rivers below, his destination set: Xilin City.

Space compressed and warped around his high-speed flight, and even time itself seemed to grow viscous.

...

「Meanwhile, on the battlefield outside the Xilin City Stargate Fortress.」

Energy fluctuations were violent and chaotic.

The fortress’s energy shield had long since been shattered by the fierce assault, with most of it destroyed.

The ground was littered with burning war chariots, craters, and the marks of brutal combat between godfiends and the Demon Race.

The defending forces, with their captain—a Peak of Great Sun Realm godfiend who had comprehended the Realm of the Dao—at their core, had barely managed to form a circular defensive formation.

Every one of them was an outstanding figure among the Great Sun Realm, strong enough to guard an entire region on their own in the past, yet now they were being completely suppressed.

The number of Demon Race members surrounding them wasn’t large, only about twenty or so, but every single one of them had a ferocious aura, and the weakest among them was at the Peak of Great Sun Realm.

Among them, five figures shone as dazzlingly as burning stars, each of their attacks carrying the power to shake space itself.

They were the direct bloodline of the Demon Emperor! The true prodigies of the Demon Realm’s younger generation!

The Tiger Demon, "Xiao Lie," had a brawny physique like a small mountain, his fur like burning black flames.

He wielded a pair of giant hammers covered in demonic runes. His strikes were immensely powerful, and every swing unleashed a devastating shockwave that made even space tremble. Several Great Sun Realm godfiends from the Human Race had to combine their strength to block his attacks, yet they were still forced back repeatedly, the webbing between their thumbs and forefingers splitting open.

The Peng Demon, "Ling Feng," was unbelievably fast, leaving trails of afterimages all over the battlefield.

He held dual blades, his figure flickering in and out of existence as he specialized in launching fatal sneak attacks from cunning angles.

The beat of his wings stirred up a gale as sharp as blades, tearing through defensive shields as if they were paper.

He repeatedly found and exploited gaps in the Human Race godfiends’ joint defense with his phantom-like speed, slicing it open.

The Turtle Demon, "Pan Yan," was enormous, carrying a cyan shell as massive as a mountain, with runes flowing across its surface.

He stood at the forefront of the battle, acting as a mobile fortress.

Any attack that landed on his shell could only stir up ripples, failing to break through his defense.

Thick, earth-yellow Energy Fields radiated from his body, continuously suppressing the speed and True Essence circulation of the Human Race godfiends, making them feel as if they were trapped in a quagmire.

His presence was the allied forces’ most despairing wall of sighs.

The Snake Demon, "Dark Pupil," was relatively slender, but his eyes were eerie vertical pupils that flickered with a mesmerizing jade-green light.

His attacks carried strong mental erosion and potent venom.

The long whip in his hand was like a venomous dragon emerging from its lair. The poisonous mist it spewed filled the air, making the surrounding space viscous and corrosive, greatly weakening the Perception Power and reaction speed of the Human Race godfiends.

What was even more fatal was his snake-tongue-like sword edge, which contained terrifying piercing power and specialized in breaking through protective True Essence.

The Fox Demon, "Fu Ye," was the leader of the five demons, his aura the most profound and mysterious of all.

He was neither the strongest physically nor the most ferocious in his attacks, but his Body Technique was as elusive as a phantom under the moon. As his hands formed seals, an endless stream of Magic spells emerged.

Icicles, Fireballs, and Electric Snakes intertwined to form a web of destruction, precisely blanketing the weak points in the Human Race’s defense.

More critically, his narrow fox eyes glinted with a light that saw through the entire battlefield, allowing him to command the other four demons in time to evade the Human Race godfiends’ desperate counterattacks.

He was the true core and soul of the entire Demon Race assault force.

Under the combined command and fierce assault of these five descendants of the Demon Emperor’s bloodline, supported by over ten other equally formidable Peak of Great Sun Realm demon generals, the Human Race defenders were exhausted just trying to cope, their formation constantly being compressed and torn apart.
