When Adam stopped in front of Thea’s stall, she looked at his backpack and said, “What a strange weapon you’ve brought.”
Adam looked from the beetle and to his bag, opening it onto her counter so she could reach in and grab whatever had caught her eye.
She pulled out the broken blade they’d found in Alisé’s grave.

Thea turned the pieces over in her beetle hands, humming contemplatively.
“I need a special kind of flame for this,” she said.
