Jasper didn’t look too pleased to see them as they walked back into his tavern.

“We found the treasure on Garden Isle,” Adam told him.

He paused for a moment, clearly having expected something else to come out of Adam’s mouth.

“What was it?” he finally asked, his curiosity clearly winning over his apprehension.

Adam pulled out the wooden mask.

“Do you know what it is?” Kat asked, noticing the change in his expression.

“I’ve seen Lady Cassandra wear a mask just like this,” Jasper said.

“Where?” Adam asked.

“At the Wine District Ball. The, erm, my benefactor invited me there last year.”
