Adam led their carriage through the stone gate to the Elphin Sanctuary. The living roots writhed around on the walls of the city, and he stared at them while the horses pulled the vehicle into the city.
No matter how many times I experience this sensation, it’s still super uncomfortable being puppeteered like this.
His hands moved the reins as though he was an expert driver, and the horses followed his commands without question. The city’s many citizens watched him suspiciously from the buildings and walkways above, and the guards on the ground followed along beside the carriage.
Belamouranthe had her face pressed up against the window in the vehicle’s door and he noticed many of the guards staring at her while they kept track with him.
Then Adam blinked and his surroundings changed.
