Chapter 17
Ch.17 Pay-to-Win Warrior Luo Nan
“Stop spectating—if you don’t come out now, Luo Nan von Medillion will escape!”
“Are there really accomplices? I was just saying that randomly.” Luo Nan feigned surprise.
“Keh keh, who gave you the illusion that we followers of the Abyss fight alone?”
The black-armed man, struggling to rise, grinned with a cracked mouth, his dark right hand pressing against his chest.
As blackness spread and bones crackled audibly, he sighed in relief. “This is… my Lord’s power!”
BOOM!
At the same moment, as if blasted open by some monstrous force, the cellar door shattered instantly, wood splinters flying everywhere.
Predictably, four more Abyssal followers, covered in varying degrees of blackness, crawled out one after another from the cellar entrance.
“By our Lord’s will, convert Luo Nan von Medillion on the spot.”
“By our Lord’s will!”
“By our Lord’s will!”
The black-armed man, now fully restored, laughed again. “How about this? Five versus two—or no, our Young Master Medillion doesn’t count, so five versus one. Keh keh.”
“No, you fools—don’t you know Purifying Light is an area-of-effect attack? Forget five versus two—even if it were fifty versus two, once I throw this, all of you are finished.”
Luo Nan felt these guys were complete idiots—knowing he had an area-effect countermeasure against them, yet still charging in recklessly.
“We certainly know Purifying Light is an area-of-effect attack—but… who told you there are only five of us here?”
Seeing Luo Nan and Anya’s expressions change, the man stomped the ground and added, “Guess how many people our cult dispatched to convert you? How many more are still down below?”
Sure enough, when Anya heard this, her already stern face grew even graver. “Luo Nan, be careful to dodge later—I’ll do my best to protect you.”
Anya Sivans gripped her longsword tightly, assuming a battle stance, fully prepared.
She knew the Purifying Light in Luo Nan’s hand must be used at the most critical moment—and until then, she herself must ensure his safety.
Although the girl disliked this spoiled noble, business was business. Since she had accepted his commission and taken his payment, she would exert her utmost effort to complete the task.
This was Anya Sivans’ sense of contract!
“Wait a moment—who told you… I only brought one Purifying Light?”
Luo Nan patted the shoulder of the girl in front of him, lifted his head, and provocatively addressed the five Abyssal followers opposite him.
Luo Nan reached into his chest—and to everyone’s astonishment, pulled out a handful—of sealed Purifying Light.
“One, two, three, four—plus this one, hmm, five total.”
Luo Nan weighed the crystals in his hand, speaking with an air of leisure. “Exactly five. Enough? If not, I have more.”
With that, Luo Nan made a show of reaching into his chest again.
“Damn it, this guy’s cheating! Everyone attack! You four hold off the girl—I’ll stop him from activating the Purifying Light!” The black-armed man ordered the other four Abyssal followers.
Faster than words, before the man’s voice even faded, the already dim room was instantly shrouded in black mist.
“End this quickly—the Lord’s Gaze won’t last long!”
Empowered by the black mist, the Abyssal followers moved in an instant, closing the distance to the two in the blink of an eye.
“Luo Nan, be careful—this mist blocks perception. I can’t… sense you anymore!”
Anya’s slightly anxious voice came from the mist, accompanied by the clashing of metal.
“Don’t let him grab you—or just use the Purifying Light directly!”
“That little girl cares about you quite a bit. Too bad—it’s too late.”
The black-armed man, now standing directly in front of Luo Nan, seemed to feel everything was under control—his tone even softened slightly.
“I know activating Purifying Light takes time. But guess—before you activate it, can I snap your neck?”
“Actually, you should’ve activated it right after all five of us appeared. I didn’t expect you’d actually believe my bluff.” Saying this, he seemed unable to control his emotions again, staring fiercely at the handful of Purifying Light in Luo Nan’s hand.
“Damn noble—so damn rich! The price of that handful of Purifying Light could fund our entire cult’s activities for a whole year!”
“Alright, I shouldn’t have said so much… Go meet my Lord!”
With that, the black-armed man reached out to grab him. “You shouldn’t have come with only one bodyguard. Be more careful in your next life!”
Whoosh—
“What!?”
The black-armed man seemed frozen in place, his eyes filled with disbelief.
“You actually… dodged?”
He was certain the speed of his strike just now was impossible for an ordinary person to react to.
And he had already used secret methods to detect Luo Nan right after he entered the room—this guy was definitely an ordinary person.
But Luo Nan von Medillion had indeed dodged.
What was going on?
“Well, how should I put it… This young master, though humble, entered the supernatural realm just yesterday.”
Luo Nan, having sidestepped the black-armed man’s attack, stuffed the handful of Purifying Light back into his chest.
“I knew your nonsense earlier was just stalling for time. I also knew you were secretly activating this black mist—but I didn’t care.”
At this point, Luo Nan felt the power unleashed coursing through his body, an indescribable pleasure surging within him.
“I was just looking for someone to practice with!”
“Ridiculous! Entered the supernatural just yesterday? If you only entered yesterday, what makes you dare fight me? I’m about to step into Tier Two!”
“You… haven’t even entered Tier One, have you?” The black-armed man’s expression turned vicious, his gaze locked onto the calm black-haired youth before him. “Sometimes, the gap between supernatural practitioners is even greater than the gap between supernatural and ordinary people. Let me give you a good lesson!”
“As for tuition—pay with your life!”
With those words, the black-armed man suddenly surged forward, attacking Luo Nan once more.
Boom—
The black right arm, engraved with the Nature emblem, collided with Luo Nan’s clearly defined, slender right arm, producing a buzzing sound that tore through the air.
“What!?”
The black-armed man felt as if he had punched Orichalcum Steel—even his arm, blessed by the “Lord,” couldn’t withstand the tremendous recoil. His skin tore, black blood spraying everywhere.
“Don’t be shocked. This young master is gifted—stabilized at early Tier One in just one night. Surprised?” Luo Nan glanced again at the silver radiance shimmering beneath the fabric of his right arm. “As the son of the Medillion family, is it really… surprising that I wear the ‘Thousand-Scale Radiant Shock Robe’ after entering the supernatural realm?”
Luo Nan exerted force from his waist, using the dragon aura enhancement embedded in the robe to instantly elevate his strength to peak Tier One level.
BOOM—
Watching the black-armed man sent flying by his punch, Luo Nan revealed a wild, unrestrained smile:
“This is… the power of a pay-to-win warrior!”
