Chasing His Ex: The Tycoon's Hidden Twins

Chapter 207 - 161: I’ll Support Silu Whether She Wants to Study Abroad or Travel the World

And just like that.

Jiang Yixia was persuaded by Lu Fan to go for a walk.

The two of them arrived at the riverside. Jiang Yixia walked slightly ahead, about half a step in front, with Lu Fan following behind her.

Lu Fan chuckled. "Back when we used to take walks together, you’d never be ahead of me. You were always right by my side."

"That was then," Jiang Yixia replied. "The past is the past. Don’t keep bringing it up."

"Do you miss our old life, then?" Lu Fan asked.

This time, Jiang Yixia said nothing.

To say she didn’t miss it would have been a lie.

Back then, Jiang Yixia had been immersed in the bliss of being in love.

Life had been a bit hard, but as long as Lu Fan was by her side, she never felt weary.

But Lu Fan had shattered all of that with his own hands.

Now, Jiang Yixia refused to dwell on that life, because there was no going back.

So she answered calmly, "What if I do? What if I don’t?"

"If you do, then we can start all over again." Lu Fan stepped in front of her and said earnestly, "Yixia, trust me. I can definitely be a good husband."

Jiang Yixia gazed into his sincere eyes.

’He had made the exact same promise the first time he cheated, but less than three days later, he was in another woman’s arms again.’

There was no way Jiang Yixia would ever believe him again.

She looked out at the Zhujiang River, its surface calm, and asked coolly, "Why don’t you just tell me about Sifan? The only common ground we have left might be talking about the children."

Lu Fan heard this and knew it was just wishful thinking to expect Jiang Yixia to immediately return to their old life.

She was willing to talk to him now, but that didn’t mean she had forgiven him.

Lu Fan continued, "Before we talk about Sifan, there’s something I need to tell you. I transferred 5,000 to Silu for pocket money."

Hearing this, Jiang Yixia was a little shocked. "Why would you give her so much money?"

"It’s not that much, is it?" Lu Fan said with a smile. "After all, I’ve made a lot of money. It’s all going to go to the two kids after I’m gone, anyway. In the future, if they want to study abroad or travel the world, I’ll support them."

"For you, 5,000 might not be much—it’s like five bucks to us—but for Silu, it’s a lot. Don’t you realize what happens when a new college student suddenly gets that much spending money? She won’t be able to control herself," Jiang Yixia explained.

Lu Fan replied, "Don’t worry. Silu and Sifan are far more mature than we think. Besides, the main reason I gave her the money has to do with Sifan."

"Sifan? What does this have to do with Sifan?" Jiang Yixia asked, confused.

Lu Fan explained, "Well, that involves another girl."

"Another girl?" Jiang Yixia grew more confused. She felt like Lu Fan was just trying to be mysterious, so she frowned and said, "Don’t play games with me. If you have something to say, just say it."

Lu Fan didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "It’s true," he said. "I told you before that Sifan was starting a business with a girl, right?"

"Mm-hm." Jiang Yixia nodded.

"The girl’s name is Wen Wan, from the Sichuan and Chongqing area. Her family is quite poor. She’d been working part-time jobs ever since she started college, until Sifan invited her to start a business with him, which also let her earn more than a campus job," Lu Fan added. "But it seems her family ran into some trouble recently, so Wen Wan had to start secretly working a campus job again."

"Why do you say she’s doing it ’secretly’? Is there something wrong with working a campus job?" Jiang Yixia didn’t understand.

Lu Fan chuckled. "Our son feels bad for the girl and told her not to take those campus jobs anymore. They’re exhausting and don’t pay well. That’s why Wen Wan started doing it secretly after she heard her family was in trouble."

Then Jiang Yixia understood.

She finished his thought for him. "So, you’re saying that to help that girl, Sifan lent her all his money, and he probably borrowed from Silu, too."

"That’s my woman for you. Your wits and quick thinking are a cut above the rest," Lu Fan teased.

Jiang Yixia frowned, clearly annoyed and at a loss for words.

’If that was the case, then it made sense why Lu Fan had transferred that money to Silu.’

So she thanked him. "Thank you for caring so much about them."

"Don’t thank me. They’re my children, too, after all." At this, he asked tentatively, "Yixia, do you ever regret having my children?"

Jiang Yixia shot him a look. "I didn’t have them for you. I had them because I felt their arrival was fated. I couldn’t turn my back on that destiny."

After saying her piece, she started walking forward again.

Seeing this, Lu Fan called out a reminder, "Yixia, slow down a bit! We agreed this was a stroll, not a race walk!"

"The sooner we finish, the sooner I can go back," Jiang Yixia said coldly.

"Yixia, you can’t always be walking around with such a long face. Don’t you know that smiling keeps you young?" Lu Fan said, catching up to walk beside her.

Jiang Yixia replied, "I wouldn’t know. All I want right now is to get back quickly."

"Hey, wait a second." Lu Fan suddenly stepped in front of her, blocking her path.

Jiang Yixia frowned. "Now what?"

Lu Fan bent down and, to her surprise, started tying her shoelace.

For a moment, Jiang Yixia’s face flushed red.

She wanted to say she could do it herself, but she bit her tongue before the words could escape.

And so, she just watched as Lu Fan tied her shoelace.

After tying the shoelace, Lu Fan slowly raised his gaze, letting it travel up her long, slender legs. He remarked with a sigh, "It’s been so many years, Yixia, and your legs are still just as slim."
